1 RFABC CONFERENCE 2015 SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES John Bientjes John has been with Commercial Aquatic Supplies for 25 years. John is factory trained by ES (Engineered Treatment Systems LLC, the manufacturers of ETS UV water treatment systems) in UV and is fondly referred to as the old guy. Frank Britton Frank Britton is President & General Manager at Critical Environment Technologies Canada Inc. Florian Gabriel Florian is an enthusiastic Swiss economist, entrepreneur and fan of sustainable technologies. Florian has led key initiatives for the Swiss Government and swisscleantech and the Global Cleantech Cluster Association and managed several key export projects and successfully established strategic partnerships across all levels of government and the private sector. Florian holds a teaching degree and a degree in economics from the Lucerne School of Business. Florian s current focus areas are on international business development and transfer of sustainable technologies, cluster collaboration, green building, water treatment, waste and resource management and integrated mobility. Florian gets his energy from yoga, cycling and kayaking along the waterways of the Pacific Northwest.

2 Mark Jeanes, Director of Rooms - Delta Grand Okanagan Resort and Conference Centre Originally from South West England, Mark has always had a passion for hospitality, likely as a result of being around several family members who were involved in operating pubs and managing resorts. As soon as he completed his Hotel & Catering Management Diploma in the UK, he was off to see the world! First stop Switzerland, where apart from chocolate and cheese, the Swiss have a well-earned reputation for exceptional service. Next stop Canada, where Mark further honed his guest service skills in several leadership roles at iconic properties such as Jasper Park Lodge, Hotel Vancouver and Fairmont Chateau Whistler. Prior to joining Delta in 2011, Mark worked internationally as Director of Operations at the Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives, Executive Assistant Manager at the Crowne Plaza London The City in London, England and Director, Food & Beverage, Fairmont Olympic, Seattle. Mark s service philosophy is simple, Happy Staff = Happy Guests, combined with always looking for continuous improvement in anything you do in terms of creating a memorable guest experience. Marin Katov, Ph.D., Architect AIBC Marin has decade of specialized sport and recreation expertise. He has focused on stadiums, professional and community field projects including all field sports and track & field facilities. His portfolio is rounded out with the design of sports program facilities including gymnasiums, sports medicine clinics, field houses and team rooms. Marin is a core sector leader at A49 responsible for sport project design through to construction. He provides strong multi-disciplinary team and specialist consultant and supplier co-ordination and is involved on projects at a detailed level from start to finish. Ian McKay ARCHITECT AIBC, MRAIC, LEED AP BD+C Ian McKay is a Principal at Architecture49 with over 40 years of extensive architectural experience in institutional, community and sport and entertainment projects. He joined the firm in 1986, and since that time has been a senior project manager for most of the major projects designed by the firm. As a LEED Accredited Professional, he heads up all of the firm's sustainable design initiatives. Ian's experience includes a full range of design, technical and management skills that extend from feasibility studies through to construction administration. He also has extensive experience in user group meetings and public meetings, and is responsible for preparing presentations and facilitating a design process in which stakeholders and users are engaged in a meaningful way.

3 Jim McKillip Jim McKillip started with DesertAire in 2013, bringing with him over thirty years of experience in design and provision of HVAC/Dehumidification equipment for pool facilities. Along with a degree in mechanical engineering, his extensive experience was cultivated from owning a manufacturer s representative firm that specialized in pool dehumidification and worked with over 700 pool facilities in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, to provide design, equipment, and start-up services. Jim sold the company in 2013 to join DesertAire as Western Regional Manager. DesertAire has been building dehumidification equipment since 1984 and is the largest manufacturer of DX dehumidification equipment in the US. Dale Miller Dale has worked in the BC aquatic recreation field since 1974 in Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Quesnel and Langley. For the past 21 years, he has been Executive Director for the B.C. & Yukon Branch of the Lifesaving Society. He served as Chair of the Aquatic Recreation Branch of BC Recreation & Parks Association for seven years and as a BCRPA board member for two years. Dale has taught the BCRPA Pool Operator course since 1986 and has been an instructor-trainer since He recently assisted in the development of a pool worker safety course known as PoolSafe BC. Dale s leisure time includes playing soccer & squash and spending time with his four grandchildren. Bobbi Neal Bobbi Neal, Community Development Coordinator for West Shore Parks & Recreation in Victoria BC has 30 years of experience in recreation programming and community engagement. She is a leader in project, event and facility management. Bobbi is known for her expertise with community involvement, fundraising and grant writing. Bobbi leads with a pragmatic, strategic, values based approach; with a focus on universal access, community and diversity. Bobbi s role is it to build capacity and resources within the organizations and the communities in which she serves. In her years of experience Bobbi has been employed with the City of Calgary, the District of Saanich, the James Bay Community School Centre and City of Victoria with involvement with multiple School Districts, community agencies and non-profit organizations. 4 Recent projects include being a lead member of the award winning User-Friendly Trails Initiative, a partner in the accessible Rotary Picnic Playground build and a steering committee member for the West Shore Parks & Recreation Program review. As a facilitator, presenter, trainer and coach Bobbi strives to provide you with the tools and the skills to proceed with your own community initiatives in a sustainable way. Benoit Rodier Benoit is a licensed professional Engineer who graduated from Sherbrooke University in 1988 with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. Benoit started his career as an accounts manager for a HVAC manufacturer. He then moved up the ladder from heat exchanger manufacturer to industrial compressor manufacturer as sales manager. In 1999 he was recruited by Cimco and had various positions from Sales manager, to General Manger. Benoit has been involved with and has building experience with Natural refrigerant for 25 years. He cumulated a lot of experience designing and selling integrated projects using all aspects of HVACR. Benoit has also been teaching part time HVACR for the past 25 years. Highly involved in many local and regional associations, Benoit has been the leading figure for Cimco in evolving towards CO2 refrigeration and new technology while maintaining their leader s position on the ammonia industrial and recreation market. Lane Sherman Lane Sherman is an organizational development consultant, trainer and team builder. His primary focus has been on collaboration and leadership that inspires collaborative teams. He has worked with over 4,500 teams and teaches teamwork to MBA students at Royal Roads University. He has an MA in Leadership, is a certified mediator, and has worked in the field for over twenty years. Art Sutherland Art graduated from Nova Scotia Technical College with highest marks in the province and an honors diploma in refrigeration technology. Journeyman Refrigeration Technician with North American Certification, Industrial Instrumentation diploma, Industrial Pipefitting diploma, Industrial Refrigeration Energy Analysis certification through University of Wisconsin, with over 30 years of designing and installing industrial refrigeration systems, and system start up specialist on more than 100 projects internationally. He has been Past President of the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute, Past Refrigeration Committee Chairman of ASHRAE Victoria Chapter, Refrigeration Advisor for BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology), Author of four refrigeration manuals, distributed worldwide, Author of 2004 British Columbia Refrigeration Operators training program

5 Robbie Westgard Robbie has extensive experience in business consulting, project and event management and small business and non-profit development. She created and launched this company in 1996 and has worked in several markets in Canada including Vancouver Island, Ottawa, and the Okanagan along with International markets. Her specialties include: international client and program management, small business development and business development in the travel and aviation industries. Robbie has a strong background and successful outcomes in volunteer management and media relations with a particular interest in customer service training. Her clients include governments, large corporate, non-profit and small business operators. Robbie also facilitates business programs for new entrepreneurs and enjoys coaching new business owners to think strategically, employ effective strategies and achieve success.
