Parting Words from outgoing President Michael Kline I want to thank all of you for coming out and participating in our events. I also want to give a huge thank you to all of the volunteers that made this year possible. At times it can be a lot of hard work, but please know that volunteering your free time to make the Pentagon Chapter the I can hardly believe that we are two months into the new best it can be is greatly appreciated by me NCMA Pentagon Chapter year! I hope you all had a wonderful and everyone that attends our chapter summer break and I wish that this year brings you blessings functions. Without you, none of this would happen. Thanks everyboth personally and professionally. I hope everyone enjoyed one! I ll end with a special shout-out (thank you) to Angela the summer and was able to spend time with friends and fami(angie) Hughes, who has expended enormous effort putting togethly. I d like to take this opportunity to thank the board er every issue of our monthy newsletter since June 2015, as well as, members and to welcome those newly elected for launching and maintaining our new service and Chapter webour Chapter is gearing up for another exiciting year of prosite. Angie stepped down in her dual role as VP of Communications grams and speakers that we hope you will enjoy and increase and Technology effective June 30th. She will be missed dearly! your knowledge. Don t miss out on the upcoming events. In September, we will hold a bowling social that is sure to be a fun evening of networking! Come on out and meet the team. 2 New Officer Spotlight The new chapter program year runs from July 1, 2016 through June 30, Please review the background of our new officers, whom you will get to meet at our first event of the new program year, held in July. Ms. Lynn Sims (President) - Lynn is an Acquisition Manager with the Department of State. She has over 17 years of Contract Management experience with DOD and Civilian agencies. She received her Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Virginia Wesleyan College and an MBA from Liberty University. PHOTO NOT AVAILABLE Ms. Heather Dambly (President-elect) - Heather is a Contracts Manager for the Department of Defense Agencies and Commands Customer Group at SAIC. She has been a member of the Executive Committee since July 2015 and previously served as the Fellows Chair. Heather received her B.S. and B.A. at Tulane University and her J.D. at Duke University. Ms. Lisa Grant Tillman, CFCM (Treasurer) - Lisa was promoted to Senior Contracts Analyst with Information Technology Solutions & Consulting (ITSC). She currently supports the Defense Health Agency, Contract Operations Division, National Capital Region. She became a member of the Pentagon Chapter in July 2012 and started volunteering immediately. She has been a member of the Executive Committee since January 2013, the Elections Chair during Program Year , and Vice-President of Membership during Program Year Ms. Tillman has also led the Pentagon Chapter CFCM Study Group, from May 20 to July 29, Ms. Keisha Simmons, CPCM, CFCM (Secretary) - Keisha is a Senior Contract Specialist with the Department of Defense Washington Headquarters Services Acquisition Directorate. She received her Bachelor s in Acquisition and Contract Management and her Master's in Management from Strayer University. Keisha has successfully completed the Department of Interior Government-wide Acquisition Management Intern Program in September Keisha is DAWIA Level III Certified in Contracting, Level II Certified in Purchasing, and a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps. She became a member of the Pentagon Chapter in March 2012 and started volunteering immediately. She has held the position of Grants Chair for the past 3 years. Ms. Simmons has also been facilitating the Pentagon Chapter CFCM study group. Ms. Sara Brown (Secretary-elect) - Sara is a Proposal Contracts Representative who completed her Bachelor s Degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She has been with NCMA since 2015, volunteering as the Elections Chair during Program Year Business Excellence through Contract Management Excellence August 2016

Vendors could save millions with new GSA reporting requirement The General Services Administration (GSA) published a final rule in the Federal Register in June called the Transactional Data Reporting (TDR) rule. It requires federal contractors to report data on individual task orders and purchases made on GSA schedules, including part numbers, quantities, and prices paid. GSA senior procurement executive, Jeffrey Koses feels, the rule takes cost out of a cumbersome, duplicative federal contracting world and puts money in agencies hands so they can execute the best procurement possible to meet their missions. He feels it will result in an estimated annual burden reduction of $29 million for vendors. 5 NCMA Award Opportunities Do you know someone you would like to nominate for an NCMA Award? The following opportunities are available. Please forward your nominations to our Awards Chair, Rebecca Moriguchi, who can be reached at and Chapter Excellence Award The Chapter Excellence Award is designed to recognize the most outstanding chapters based on a set criteria for determination. Eligibility: All chapters are eligible to submit. Evaluations will be based on the total combination of the following categories, which occurred during the program year: Certification Education Fiscal Responsibility Member Recruitment and Retention Publicity and Programing Nomination: The self-evaluation form and cover letter should be submitted electronically to chapterrelations@ncmahq.org no later than July 31st to be considered for any category of the Chapter Excellence Awards. More info: Outstanding Chapter Volunteer Award The Outstanding Chapter Volunteer Award provides a means of giving special recognition at the national level to those volunteers who demonstrate dedicated service to NCMA and its members. The award honors the memory of Albert Berger and Arthur Muller. Mr. Berger was a former National President of the Association and one of the early leaders of professional development in contract management. Mr. Muller was one of the founding fathers and president of the original New York Chapter of the Government Contract Management Association (GCMA), which later merged with the National Association of Professional Contract Administrators (NAPCA) to form NCMA.ELIGIBILITY Any college or university that provides an undergraduate degree program, graduate degree program, or graduate level certificate program in contract management, acquisition, or procurement. Eligibility: Be a current member of NCMA Chapter presidents of the current program year are not eligible Did not receive compensation for service Nomination: Nominations may be made by current chapter presidents no later than July 31 st. Chapter presidents may nominate more than one person per program year. Self-nominations are allowed, but require two letters of recommendation from current chapter leaders.
