McCarty Victor Nicholas Brian Ridley Sonta Roach Orie G. Williams President & CEO Aaron M. Schutt Communications Message to Shareholders Dear Shareholders, Doyon is closing out our fiscal year Despite the weak oil field business environment in Alaska during the year, Doyon is expected to have the second strongest fiscal year in its history due to better than budgeted results from Doyon Drilling and Doyon Utilities. In addition, we issued our 30th consecutive shareholder dividend on December 6, in the amount of $5.99 per share or $599 per 100 shares. Details of Doyon s financial performance will be in the 2016 annual report, which will be mailed to shareholders on January 24. In November, shareholders were mailed a postcard informing them of Doyon s recent initiative to household mailed materials to help reduce costs. Householding means one copy of mailed items, such as newsletters, annual reports and proxy statements, will be mailed to a household unless a shareholder opts out. Items that will not be householded are proxy cards and dividend checks. Questions about householding can be directed to shareholder records at ext To opt out of householding, please fill out the form at I would like to thank all of our shareholders who made it to the polls in November, and I m very proud of Doyon s participation in the Get Out the Native Vote. Doyon is very pleased that Alaska voters agreed to pass Ballot Measure 1, which will increase access to the polls across our state by making sure each and every eligible voter is registered and ready to vote on Election Day. I understand that this year s election was a long road and somewhat divisive. I encourage you to stay engaged as we move forward with our elected leadership. As we close 2016, I want to thank employees throughout the Doyon Family of Companies for their service and dedication. Without them, Doyon would not have the success we have today. From my family to yours, may the spirit of the holidays be with you throughout the New Year. Respectfully, Aaron M. 3 Shareholder News 2016 Dialogue with Doyon Update The Dialogue with Doyon visits to the villages just wrapped up for Doyon, Limited staff and board members visited Allakaket, Koyukuk and Tanana in October and Beaver in November. Dialogue with Doyon is an opportunity for community members to spend time with staff and board members, ask questions, and share comments and concerns. Often, staff from shareholder outreach, lands, records and human resources can be found in attendance. The meetings are also a time for Doyon to gain an understanding of the topics that are important to shareholders, while sharing updates and information about Doyon. Board members and staff make presentations on the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act and its impact on Doyon, important things to know about the records department, and Doyon FY 2015 highlights. In addition to the presentations, there are $50 cash giveaways for shareholders present at the meeting. Dialogue with Doyon will continue in Anchorage on January 20, 2017, and conclude in Seattle on January 28, For more information, please contact shareholder outreach at (in Fairbanks), (toll-free) or outreach@doyon.com. Christmas is for Kids in the Works for Holiday Season rural areas of the Doyon, Limited region receive gifts for local children during the holidays. This year, the program will send gifts to children in the communities of Allakaket, Grayling and Northway. The villages selected and the number of villages receiving gifts varies from year to year depending on the number of children in selected villages, costs and donations. The selected communities provide the Doyon Facilities team with a list of local children, and gifts are personally chosen for each child based on age and gender. As the cost of goods and shipping continues to increase, this is just one way that Doyon and the community can give back to shareholders and celebrate the holiday spirit. Travis Charlie, one of Santa s elves, prepares fry bread tacos at last year s fundraiser benefiting Christmas is for Kids. The annual Christmas is for Kids program planning is well underway! Christmas is for Kids is a program supported by donations and volunteers, and coordinated by the Doyon Facilities department. Every year, a number of villages in 2017 Annual Meeting continued from page 1 Shareholder of the Year awards will also be presented at the 2017 annual meeting. To fundraise for the program this year, the Doyon Facilities team sold fry bread tacos at the Tanana Chiefs Conference arts and crafts fair on November 18, and fundraised at the Doyon Holiday Bazaar on December 1 and 2. Doyon employees donate their time to wrap gifts for the annual program and local airlines often donate shipping costs. 5 Shareholder News Shareholder Spotlight: Jamie Nollner Doyon, Limited shareholder Jamie Nollner is exceptional, not only in her personal life, but in building her career. Nollner is the daughter of the late Judi Nollner and Wayne Huntington of Galena. She is the granddaughter of Margaret Nollner of Kokrines, the late Gabriel Nollner, Sr. of Louden, the late Flora Elliott of Huslia, and the late Jimmy Huntington of Hog River. Nollner noted that she was very blessed to be raised by her maternal grandparents in the village of Galena. Her fondest memories were of being out in nature, staying at camp, and picking berries with her family. Berry picking, she claimed, is the only cultural thing she does well. Doyon in the Community Doyon was pleased to be involved with several important community events this past month. Doyon executives Geri Simon and Charlene Ostbloom take part in fundraising for local radio station KRFF 89.1 FM, also known as the Voice of Denali. While still in high school, Nollner began working for Gana-a Yoo, Limited as a resource assistant. This is where she first learned about computerized mapping. Nollner s mapping skills would later play a role in her being selected for an internship with Doyon, Limited. Later hired as a full-time employee in Doyon s lands and natural resources department, Nollner stayed with the company for 10 years, gaining valuable career knowledge and experience. In her position with the lands department, Nollner helped manage over 12.5 million acres of land, worked as a liaison between the Department of Defense and Native interests, and helped educate the general public about privately owned Native lands. Doyon is what ties the Athabascan people and our land together. It is a physical manifestation of our bond, Nollner said. Nollner is also a graduate of the Doyon Management Training program, now known as Doyon Leadership Training. Of her training experience, Nollner exclaimed, My life improved exponentially and my career became supercharged! In the program she envisioned herself being in a faraway place, in front of computer screens, and coordinating work with people in the field. She set her intention and took an enormous leap of faith by chasing her dreams to Texas. She explained that she trusted that this was the Creator s plan and that everything would work out as it was meant to. In Texas, she ended up obtaining the job that she envisioned (thanks in part to her mapping ability). Get Out the Native Vote Interior hosted a candidate mixer for the community at the Chief David Salmon Tribal Hall in Fairbanks on November 4. Indigenous artist duo Mike Bone also attended the mixer before their performance, which followed the event. Doyon Facilities held a fry bread taco sale at the Tanana Chiefs Conference arts and crafts fair at the Chief David Salmon Tribal Hall in Fairbanks on November 18. The sale was a fundraiser for the Christmas is for Kids holiday program. When your work allows you a lifestyle that you could only continued on page 6 doyon.com 5

6 Doyon, Limited Doyon Associated, LLC President Appointed to AGDC Board In September 2016, Alaska Gov. Bill Walker announced the appointment of Doyon Associated, LLC President Warren Christian to the Alaska Gas Development Corporation (AGDC) board. Christian replaces former Fairbanks North Star Borough Mayor Luke Hopkins, who resigned from the position to run for a state Senate seat. Christian joins the AGDC board with over 30 years of experience working in pipeline construction and oil field services on the North Slope as well as in Fairbanks, where he oversees Doyon Associated pipeline projects and operations. According to its website, the AGDC is an independent, public corporation of the state of Alaska. The corporation s purpose is to maximize the benefit of Alaska s vast North Slope natural gas resource through the development of infrastructure necessary to move the gas into local and international markets. It s an honor to serve the state of Alaska as a board member of AGDC, Christian said. I look forward to working with the team that has been tasked to bring Alaska s natural gas to market and to Alaskans. This is a very large and challenging project, definitely a game changer for the state, that will bring many jobs to Alaskans and opportunities for Alaska businesses. More information about the AGDC can be found at Doyon, Limited Announces November Employee of the Month Doyon, Limited s risk management analyst, Maria Amer, was recently named employee of the month for November. Amer is responsible for claims management for several Doyon subsidiaries and assists with claims management for Doyon, Limited. She is also responsible for managing certificates of insurance, which insures that Doyon contractors maintain adequate levels of insurance while performing work for the company. Amer was nominated by her supervisor for her instrumental work in promulgating policies and procedures for Doyon s new subsidiary, Northern Laundry Services, LLC (NLS). In addition to her normal position requirements, Amer has taken on exemplary duties to build relationships and create processes that will assist NLS in providing efficient services in day-to-day affairs. Her strong background in OSHA compliance ensures that we, as a company, remain compliant and are always meeting all regulations all this while maintaining an incredibly sunny disposition and service attitude. I cannot stress enough how lucky we are to have her on our team and anticipate a continued exemplary service record, said Bruce Miller, Amer s supervisor and Doyon s senior risk management analyst. Records Department continued from page 4 quarter, Doyon will award one $300 cash prize, one $200 cash prize, and five $100 cash prizes. Shareholder Spotlight continued from page 5 dream of as a child that s when you know how blessed you truly are, she said. Envisioning is very important to manifesting your dreams. You must envision something and set an intention to go after it. You can be the biggest dreamer out there, but if you don t set that intention your dreams have nowhere to go. You must also believe you can do something and love yourself enough to get it, Nollner said. Her advice to youth, Walk to the beat of your own drum, be grateful, have fun, dream big, and set those intentions! Nollner recently relocated to Anchorage and now works for ConocoPhillips Alaska in their exploration land department. She loves being so close to family again and is enjoying her adventures. 6 December 2016
