Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Pune The journey of Symbiosis Center for Management Studies began at Pune in 2004 and it has seen a progressive growth every year in terms of curriculum design and student intake. The Institute has been ranked second in India in the field of under graduate management education by the India Today Neilson Survey for the year 2014 and With state of the art infrastructure and a fully operational campus, SCMS-Pune is emerging as an internationally recognized fully integrated management institute of higher learning. The institute strives to develop an innovative academic environment through the synergy between faculty, students, industry and technology. The institute encourages constant interaction with the industry and other leading management/ research institutes. The Finance Conclave is one such endeavor.

3 This Conclave brings together stalwarts from the Industry who will share their rich experience and insights with faculty and students and will shed light on themes which are causing a paradigm shift in the world of Banking and Finance. 01 THE FIRST : Implications of implementing IFRS ( International Financial Reporting Standards) Financial Reporting in India is being influenced by IFRS which is already impacting business decisions. What are the challenges and implications of this convergence and finally how will it create a paradigm shift in accounting and finance? 02 THE SECOND : : The unabated rise in stressed assets of the Indian Banking Sector is a cause for concern for many. The RBI governor, Dr. Raghu Rajan has given banks a deadline of March 2017 to clean up. According to a report in the Economic Times, this zeal for clean up could either bring Indian Banking back to life or push it into coma. We are already witnessing the impact as reported in the media, on the 30th of April, ICICI Banks fourth quarter s net profits went down by 76% on account of provisions for bad loans. This report could be a sign of times to come but what s certain is that asset management in banks is all set for a paradigm shift. 03 THE THIRD : Technology today is disrupting and simultaneously creating new platforms for customers and service providers in every sector. Mobile Apps, Social Media, and Big Data are causing a paradigm shift in operations, customer expectations and other segments of the banking sector. However, there s much more to the technology story than its direct effects on customers experience. Data Analytics is having a profound impact on how firms operate and make decisions. Is the internet creating newer and more nimble business organizations?
