Long-term predictions, however, are still difficult as consumer demand seems permanently dented and the explosion of public deficits and debts pose serious future challenges. In an uncertain world decision makers rely on up-to-date information and a platform to exchange opinions and ideas more than ever. This fourth annual conference for executives of Austrian subsidiaries organized by the Austrian Trade Commissions in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles will provide both. It is organized by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology and the Office of Science & Technology at the Austrian Embassy in Washington. The conference brings together Austrian scientists and scholars in North America from all disciplines, in particular life, natural, computer sciences, technology and engineering, humanities and social sciences, with a delegation of representatives from the government, universities, research institutes and industry. It provides participants with an opportunity to learn about recent R&D policy developments in Austria, to discuss new career and funding opportunities at universities, research institutions and in the private sector in Austria, and to facilitate the establishment of research collaborations between North America and Austria.
