Matters arising from previous meetings The Fathers Day Breakfast was a success. 150 th Celebrations Everything is ticking along. There will be a school celebration on 17 th March and a 150 th dinner on 12 th May. Work is underway on the print by Esther Showit. Screen on the Green It was a success. In future the junior movie will be will be run in the gym it was hard to see on the screen being so early. 7. Correspondence Holly Andre, Head Prefect, thanked us on behalf of the prefects for our donation for the Screen on the Green. 8. Finance As presented. It was moved that payments totaling $33,999.00, as per the report, be approved for payment. We will follow up with Stuart whether the payment of the camera for the movie night has been paid. 14 2 9. Reports Principal s Report Year 11 and 12 are on study week, exams start next week. It was noted that the leavers Mass was quite small and not well attended. The invitations were limited because last year there were a large number people. This year was also a small year group. Numbers will be better managed in future. Kinder orientation is next week. Head of Junior School Report PAT testing is underway. Next week is step up orientation day. Swimming is coming up. End of year concerts are coming up. TCSPC Southern Region Parent Representative Not presented. 10. General Business The dates for the Parents and Friends meeting next year are: February 13 th; March 19 th; April 16 th; May 14 th; June 25 th; No July; August 13 th; September 10 th; October 15 th Designated Fair Meeting; October 29 th AGM; and November 12 th. The meetings will start at 5:30pm. Other dates for the calendar include: Welcome Night 22 nd February; Mothers Day Breakfast 10 th May; Fathers Day Breakfast 29 th August; and 150 th School Fair 21 st October. The Constitution will be reviewed at the next AGM. It was agreed not to sponsor a year 11/12 academic award, it is better to disperse our funds across the whole school.

17 2 Head of Junior School Bookweek had been held and was a great success. Bruce and Denis Morcombe had been and presented to the children as part of the Day for Daniel. Australian Federal Police had presented to staff. New student interviews have been held. Jump Rope for Heart will be held on Thursday. St Marys has been chosen for a NAPLAN online trial. TCSPC Southern Region Parent Representative Not presented 9. Business Jo Messer was presented with a gift and thanked for her contribution to the P & F. Moving forward we need to confirm dates for the Welcome Night, Father s Day Breakfast and confirm the meeting dates for the next year. The request for a bed for the sick room was discussed, there are currently bean bags available. It was advised that the sick room is a room of transition and there was not enough room for actual beds. The request was denied. Discussion was held as to whether the Parents and Friends could sponsor a grade 12 award. Helen and Bridget will discuss. Finance It was moved that the P & F purchase blocks for play equipment to the value of $1, Moved: Andrew Pinelli Seconded: Simon Edwards There was a doubling up of payment of invoices. Moving forward the school will forward copies of invoices that are paid on behalf of the P & F to the P & F to eliminate the doubling up. Helen will confer with Stuart the amount for the playground equipment and we will move a motion for payment next meeting.
19 2 The school will send an invoice for the kiln. It was moved that $55, be rolled over in term deposit for 1-2 months. Moved: Jo Messer Seconded: Phil DeCesera. Reports Principal Some staff and students have been unwell lately there is a lot of illness in the school. The school is currently hosting Japanese exchange students and next week Chinese exchange students will be visiting. The Assumption Mass is next week. The Presentation Alliance Conference will be held here next year. There is currently a review of the Lantern Program. Next year the parent portal will be rolled out. Grade 10, 11 and 12 exam results went out last week. Parent teacher interview are underway Naplan results go out next week. There is only a 50% takeup of the newsletter, they are working on improving communication. Head of Junior School Thanked the P & F for the funds for the outdoor seating, bean bags. New dressups have been purchased for outside. Jump rope has kicked off. The jump off is 7 September There is a push for cyber safety. Hydro is coming in for 3 days to do electrical safety classes in the junior school Book Week is coming Escape to everywhere is the theme. There will be a new pre-kinder program for 2018 enrolments, starting 28 November Parent Teacher Interviews went well, the staff are looking at how they communicate with parents. A question was put about junior school assemblies and whether they could be moved to 2:00pm so they can finish at pick up time. Bridget will look into this. TCSPC Southern Region Parent Representative Not presented 9. Business Simon Edwards will make a plaque for the piano and some spares for additional items. Fathers Day Breakfast 30 August 2017, 7:30 serving time. Jo, Mandy, Katrina and Karen can all assist. An invitation will be sent out to gauge numbers.
20 3 The BBQ will consist of egg and bacon burgers for the dads and sausages for the children, with juice and coffee to drink. A footy margin ticket could be run to raise funds. Christmas Disco The staff were not comfortable with a disco for the grand 3 and 4 children, they think they are too young. The staff will organize something more around sport for the children. Mr Weston thanked the P & F for the piano. 1. Welcome & Opening The meeting opened at 7.00 pm. President, Jo Messer, welcomed all attendees. 2. Apologies Sophie Broomfield, Mandy O Connell, Roby Partridge and Kylie Price. 4. Confirmation of previous meetings minutes 9 th May 2017 Motion: That the minutes be adopted as a true and correct record. Moved: Simon Edwards Seconded: Fil De Cesare 5. Matters arising from previous matters Request for Parents and Friends Funding Document. Jo presented a final draft version to Bridget and Helen. It was then decided to add an amendment, a question about other funding is to be added. Mother/Daughter Afternoon Mary Morgan Wing. Sunday, 13 th August 2-4pm. Entertainment Books. 199 memberships 66 digital $2, to 4 months to go. 3-6 Disco. It was decided to hold a disco on 8 December Christmas theme. Years 3-4 first following on to 5-6 later. Fathers Day Breakfast. Wednesday, 30 September It was agreed that the P & F would run the Fathers Day Breakfast. We could have some Footy Margin tickets for the AFL grand final. Parking. Parents are parking in the bus stop. Technically it is allowed for them to park in the bus zone. Helen will send out another advising not to park in the bus area.
22 2 6. Correspondence Nil 7. Finance As presented An amendment was made to the previous motion to deposit $60, into term deposit. The amount to be deposited is now the sum of $55, Moved: Simon Edwards Seconded: Jo Edwards 8. Reports Principal The council came ad looked at the car parks at the front. The building program is officially finished. The prep play area is nearly finished. We are in the middle of course choices for 9-11 which will general timetables for next year. The Cross Country Carnival was very successful. Vertical home rooms are going well, positive results from survey but also some comments that we have work to do, still developing. 150 th Fountain is being moved to make way for statue of Nano Nagle. Head of Junior School We have a visiting teacher from Singapore and an Italian exchange student. 3 training teaching are coming from Italy. Most of the white board projectors are in and by the end of term every classroom will have access to that technology. Teachers have started report writing. Interviews will be early next term. The next phase of the playground will be years 3-8. A funding request for around $2, was presented to Jo for playground equipment. 9. Business 150 th celebrations Clean skin wines with the print from Esther Showit could be a project of the P & F. The official dinner will be on 12 May The Junior School will do tea towels and aprons. Movie Night The prefects have suggested an outdoor movie night which we could assist with. The money for the night could go towards some seating etc for the K-12. Scott Weston suggested he could help with the sound and projector. The school also has a license for copy write which could cover the screening of the movie. Mothers Day Breakfast There was not enough time and commitment to organize this. It was noted that in future if you propose an idea you must be willing to organize and run it. It was noted that we need to concentrate on the Kindergarten parents for future candidates and helpers. Utilizing days such as the welcome day and evening. 24 2 We have sold 82 x memberships so far - 37 digital apps and 45 books) which equates to $1, in funds. We are slightly under in sales as we were this time last year. 150 th Celebrations On Thursday there is a meeting with Esther Showit, she will be producing a piece of art for the school 3-4 Disco Bridget to talk to staff about dates and themes Parking Update The Kiss and Go signs have not be in place since the holidays, Jacki will talk to Stuart. There are currently no signs towards the top court, the higher part, with parking restrictions. Its currently all day parking. This is a council issue. Water Polo caps have arrived and they look beautiful. The teams are wearing them with pride. 6. Chapel A tour of the new chapel will be organized prior to the next meeting.
