1 I currently hold the position of Senior Legal Officer with H. H. The Ruler's Court The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department, where I advise various local governmental entities on their legal and commercial dealings with third parties. Prior to the current role, I held several legal positions in the private sector in both the Middle East and in Canada. Adeeb Jouhar Senior Legal Officer H.H. The Ruler's Court Since joining the CBC, I noticed a large number of motivated new and existing members that are as eager as I am to share their knowledge and experience with other members, while constantly looking for new ways of developing their professional capabilities. Mindful of this need, I decided to present my candidacy for the position of Legal Counsel on the Executive Committee. If elected, I hope to not only assist in looking after the legal affairs of the CBC, but also explore new ways to improve the existing channels of dialogue between members and the Executive Committee, enhance social networking events and implement practical professional development opportunities. I look forward to meeting each one of you during the upcoming events, and hope to receive your support in respect of my candidacy. The CBC is a great organization built on a solid network of people; together we can make it better. Al joined the Government of Dubai and Dubai's Investment Development Agency in May 2014 as the Group's Advisor. Al Hinton Advisor Dubai Investment Development Agency Al is from Toronto, Canada and has spent the past 12 years as the Area Director MENA Region for the Ministry of Economic Development & Trade, Government of Ontario, Canada where he had the responsibility of 21 countries promoting trade and investment on behalf of the government. Here he crossed into many sectors including ICT, Life & Health Sciences, Infrastructure (architectural & engineering, project management, construction and building products), Oil & Gas, and Renewable Energy. In 2013, the Dubai Government approached him to come to Dubai to work. Obviously they were successful! Al has been a member of the CBC for approximately 14 years through the Province of Ontario and now with the Dubai Government. Over the years, he has promoted the CBC through the partnership of many events which offered profile building for the CBC. Al is eager to continue this commitment and work with the CBC as a member of the Executive Committee. Page 1

2 Colin is Founder and Managing Director of Limelight Creative Services, a retail strategy and design consultancy based in Dubai. He brings a 20-year record of success to Limelight including strategic consulting, design concept development, competitive analysis, brand positioning and program implementation for Fortune 500 retailers, developers and brands around the world. Colin has an MBA in Marketing and a Bachelor of Architecture from University of Toronto and is a guest design critic at the American University of Sharjah. Ensuring the important work we have completed to develop the CBC brand and communications tools continues to improve in order to grow and expand our membership 2. Work with the Consulate, Board and our members to develop a compelling presentation for the EXPO sub-committee that clearly defines Canada s value proposition so that we have excellent participation by Canadian companies and individuals in the development of EXPO 2020 As the former CBC Chairman and a Board member for 4 years I bring an important body of knowledge, experience and history to the Board that will help focus our efforts in strategy, marketing, public relations, operations to bring greater value to our members and expand our membership base. Daniel Murphy, a native of Toronto, Ontario, has spent the past 13 years working with one of Canada's largest construction services company EllisDon Inc. During his tenure with EllisDon in Ontario, Daniel was responsible for the successful management of over $300 million in construction projects. Daniel Murphy Vice President Middle East EllisDon Project & Construction Management Before moving to Dubai four years ago to take on the position of Vice President Middle East, Daniel obtained his MBA from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia where he specialized in Strategy and Real Estate Development. A LEED Accredited Professional, Daniel plans to continue to grow EllisDon s already substantial project portfolio in the Middle East, particularly in the health care sector. Last year, he served the CBC in the position of Vice Chairman and held the events portfolio. He is a very active board member and increased the number of events to its highest ever over 30 during the year. Page 2

3 It is with great excitement that I submit my candidacy to the executive board for 2016 and 2017 with my relevant experience for the job. Eric Koeman L&D Consultant (Previously Al-Futtaim Retail Centre of Excellence Lead) I have been working and living in this region for over 13 years with the last 11 spent here in Dubai. As a previous board member from 2006 to 2009, I am well aware of the expectations and deliverables that are required from this important appointment as I look forward to building on the vision that was set forth by the previous board members. I am pleased to have set aside the required time to commit to the membership in my duties as an independent consultant. Fluently bilingual, I would humbly describe myself as a highly accomplished and international leadership professional with an extensive GCC senior management experience and network combined with a background in L&D, B2B sales and Fortune 500 brand marketing. I am also heavily involved with the Canadian community through my role as referee-in-chief for the Dubai Sandstorms which I intend to us as a platform to promote our CBC interests. Along with my family, 2 years ago, I moved to UAE to join Network International1 (NI). My wife is a teacher and we have two lovely boys 10&7. I am business professional with 18+ years of global experience in payments industry performing roles in corporate relationship management, operations management, Lean, product development, and program management. 4 Mariam Hasan is currently the Finance Director, Canadian Business Council in Dubai and has served previously for a three year term and led the development of the corporate sponsorship program, currently in place. Mariam has procured and signed large scale contracts with Canadian entities utilizing their technologies and knowledge platforms as part of the service delivery. Healthcare remains to be a strategic priority for Canada UAE trade relations. As a Dubai Business Leader- Building Community ties with Government and Regulatory Bodies is integral to be a provider of healthcare services in the community. Prior to Enayati Mariam was the Regional Manager for InterHealth Canada, and relocated to Saudi Arabia in 2012 to support the growth strategy in the Middle East Region after serving as Director of Planning for more than 5 years. Born and raised in Canada, Mariam is of Palestinian descent. Ms. Hasan is a McMaster University graduate and completed her MBA after a 10-year nursing history in Burns/Trauma, Critical Care, and Long Term Care. Rami is a Canadian Entrepreneurial self-starter & sales professional with more than 17 years of experience in sales and business development of software, hardware & cloud solutions. He has a proven ability of selling, communicating and executing across business units in a multi-national environment. Currently working as Regional Manager, ME at Infor, with previous experience as Director of Sales Middle East & North Africa at Ariba an SAP company And Territory Manager Public Sector at Oracle. Rami Khoury Regional Manager, Public Sector ME INFOR I m looking to be part of the CBC board to work on having more Canadian businesses owners involved with our CBC, to enhance the way we can do business between UAE and CA, encourage more Canadians to start their own businesses in the UAE. I have been in UAE since 2009 and managed to build very strong connections in the market of Dubai and across the ME. I will work to connect the CBC to companies in Dubai and the region to boost the sponsorship program. I m ethical and enjoy high integrity in my own business and professional lives. I am always prepared and keep commitments. I speak my mind and I am a resource rich person, I am also enthusiastic for giving, focused and think outside the box. Page 4

5 A seasoned professional with over 20 years of work experience across Asia, Europe, North America and the Middle East, including over 10 years within the UAE, I specialize in the development and implementation of branding, marketing and communications strategies for organizations. I work with a 360-degree mindset, focusing on all the aspects of brand building and its implementation. Saadia Asif CEO Fulcrum Being a part of the CBC over the past year has been instrumental in reforming and strengthening the connections with Canada. Each event at the council offers an opportunity to meet and interact with fellow Canadians in different areas, offering a combination of business development, networking and even more so, an opportunity to learn and grow. As a part of the CBC Board one of my primary areas of focus would be to increase the awareness of the work that the CBC does and the opportunities it offers to businesses, both Canadian and local to engage and work together. The aim would be to create greater opportunities for learning and development while using social and digital marketing to build and enhance communications to members and prospects to attract and retain a broader member base to the council. I am a long time resident of this region. I worked for Saudi Aramco, Qatar Gas, and ADGAS-ADNOC, and now I am managing Provectus Middle East here in Dubai, UAE. I am from Halifax, NS and holds Master Degree in Global Marketing from SMU in Halifax, NS. I am a regular speaker for Human Capital Development (Emiratization Program), CSR, and Sustainability. Zack H. Abdi Managing Director Provectus Middle East I was involved as a panelist for the Green Building Congress in 2011 for Dubai Big 5 Exhibition. I conducted a presentation and workshop for the Big 5 Event in Dubai, Big 5 in Jeddah, and scheduled for Big 5 in Kuwait this year. I am also conducting the presentation for Sustainability Day for Canadian University of Dubai. The event is conjunction to bring awareness for Green Economy and Green Job initiative. We are into Alternative Energy, Environmental Solutions, CSR Training, and Competency Development for Sustainable Human Resources. Our Robotics Program is selected in making the TV Reality Show called The Inventors by MBC 3. Most of the sustainability solutions are registered under STDC thus promoting Canadian products and services.
