The company has a strong communicative, conceptual and visual focus as Akoesta director Floris Hollander explains: We are builders who have an understanding of acoustics, structures, materials and architecture. We provide solutions for permanent environments like office spaces, hospitals, call centres, schools, cafés, restaurants and residences as well as temporary solutions for things like exhibition stands. We have a variety of standard products, but what really sets us apart are our creative customised solutions. What do you want to achieve in a specif ic environment in terms of communications? When addressing this question, we keep the client s acoustic wishes at the forefront. We specialise in visual solutions that also improve and optimise the acoustics of the space. 3 What do we provide? Efficient use of spaces Today many sleek clean spaces are designed with a multitude of hard materials. These include spaces where large numbers of people gather. Under the influence of the new way of working, there is a growing trend towards open-plan offices with flexible workstations, where everyone works in one space. The rationale behind this is to use spaces more efficiently and encourage greater interaction among employees. It s clever, but it turns out there s also a problem. When insufficient thought has been given to the acoustics, employees can be disturbed and distracted by each other. Expensive and major renovations are often unnecessary! Akoesta provides a variety of solutions such as soundproof ceilings, wall panels and partitions. Cupboards with acoustic fronts are also even possible. Sometimes the solution will be a standard product, other times we will create a customised solution for you. Understanding the acoustic situation In order to understand the acoustic situation fully, it may make sense to have a measurement carried out beforehand. The most important variables which influence the acoustic experience are: The reverberation time The noise levels There are target levels for both maximum noise levels and ideal reverberation times for specific spaces. Akoesta will suggest what improvements can be achieved. Acoustic measurement: the reverberation time Each room needs specific acoustic values in order to sound good. When measuring the acoustics, it is important to measure the reverberation time. The reverberation time is closely related to the total surface of the sound absorbing material present, the acoustic properties of that material, as well as the manner in which the material is distributed throughout the space. Acoustic measurement report The acoustic measurement can be carried out by Akoesta or an independent expert and the results are recorded in a measurement report. The report comprises: An explanation of the acoustic parameters and the target levels applied The executed measurement An assessment of the acoustics of the space Advice on possible improvements

6 Case Vodafone Akoesta supplied the acoustic panels for the customer contact centre at Vodafone s call centre in Maastricht. Desks are now separated by comfortable side partitions and the telemarketers can call undisturbed. A combination of good acoustics and the corporate identity of the company and/or customer produces an attractive working environment with optimal brand experience: the two birds with one stone effect! It goes without saying that we also took the best height into consideration so that now employees not only enjoy their privacy but can maintain good eye contact with each other as well.

7 It was almost impossible to carry on a normal conversation while eating at the table. Hanging a wonderful big photo panel of the children on the wall has made the house more warm and intimate.
