1 Using Cypress Resume (Thank you to Valleyview Municipal Library for sharing their document with Peace Library System.) Cypress Resume is an easy-to-use resume creating software available for free as part of your Library Card privileges. It s easy to create your own resume in just a few minutes by following the steps below. To access Cypress Resume visit your library s website: Find and click the eresources link which will take you to a list of eresources available free with your library card. Click Business & Career then Cypress Resume which will take you to the Cypress Resume log in screen. Log in with your Library barcode number no PIN # is required. You can view the Video Tutorial just below the Login field if you wish, or just jump in and give it a try! STEP 1: Create Your Resume You can see that there are three sections here: Create Your Resume: Start creating your resume (GO); Supporting Documents: To create cover letters and references; Manage My Profile: If you have a Library Card, you can create a personal profile to login and it will give you the ability to save your documents to the Cypress Resume server for up to one year.

4 When you select a Job Title, Cypress Resume will give you a job or list of jobs related to the job title you chose. When you find the job most similar to the one you are applying for, click Select this job Step 3: Choosing Statements to Describe Yourself to an Employer There are a variety of statements that you can select to describe yourself to an employer. You can select the statements from the lists provided. Each statement can be edited by clicking the Edit button next to them. You can edit or delete these statements to fully customize them. Once you have finished this section and hit Next Section Cypress Resume will create your resume. You will be brought to the Document Manager Screen

5 Document Manager: In the Document Manager window you will see a list of documents. See example (left) where I have created two different resumes. From this screen, you can view your resume, edit it, delete it, or publish it to a website. NOTE: Your resume is still not saved. If you wish to save it, you will need to Click here to save where you will be taken to a profile creation page and you can save your resume in your personal profile on the Cypress Resume server for one year. You can click View to open your resume in your web browser. When you ve opened your resume, you can download the resume in different formats: Rich Text Format (rtf), Portable Document Format (pdf) and Text (txt) You can print the resume from this screen, or, if you think you may want to save the resume and edit it later, save in either Rich Text Format or Text format. If you save as a pdf, you will not be able to edit your resume further, however, if you are submitting your resume to employers online, PDF format keeps your resume intact as some websites will change formatting on text documents. You will be able to save your resume this way to your computer or to a USB memory stick. Cover Letters: If you want to create a Cover Letter, Click Cover Letter (Create a New Cover Letter) References: If you want to add a References Page, Click References (Create New Reference Document) If you are logged in with a personal profile, you can save your cover letters and references, otherwise, you will have to download and print the pages just as you did with the resume above.
