2 Part II Course Details 1. Abstract (A 150-word description about the course) The course aims to provide an understanding of the concepts and techniques associated with drafting using free-hand and instruments in architectural design with special emphasis on general drafting terminology, usage of mechanical drafting equipment, basic types of architectural drawings with two-dimensional and three dimensional drawings, an introduction to shades and shadows. Students will start from simple drawings involving basic techniques. Studio works on hands-on experience with drafting tools will be delivered. As the semester progresses, the difficulty and complexity of assignments will be carried out. Drawings will be discussed and demonstrated and applied in design studios. Students will be equipped with the knowledge of graphic standards and drawing conventions of the architectural profession, as well as the capabilities to independently complete comprehensive and quality drawings. 2. Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILOs) (CILOs state what the student is expected to be able to do at the end of the course according to a given standard of performance.) Real cases, professional drawing documents used in construction industry, will be used for discussion. 3. Students are encouraged to identify the linkage between what they learned in studio and those presented in the real case. 4. Different documents, with high/medium/low quality, will be provided.
