15 Prerequisites This course is designed for users who seek Autodesk Certified User status. To successfully complete this course and the certification examination, you must be able to launch Inventor 11 and use the essential commands necessary for professional drawing and design. You must be able to open Inventor drawings, access commands, and use commands. It is recommended that you have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0/Windows 2000, or Microsoft Windows XP. Drafting and design experience is a plus. Using this Courseware This preparation manual includes an overview of the steps required to perform the tasks assessed on the certification examination. Many sections also include exercises that will give you practice in performing critical application tasks. The manual is divided into sections; each corresponding to a section of the certification examination. Each section contains: Objectives and A listing of the skill objectives and performance tasks covered on the certification examination. Review all objectives in each section as preparation before taking the examination. Skill Overview An introduction to the skill or task, with information about successfully completing each performance task. Lessons and Exercises Practical, real-world examples for you to practice using the functionality you have just learned. Each exercise contains step-by-step procedures and graphics to help you complete the exercise successfully. CD Contents The CD attached to the back cover of this book contains all the data and drawings you need to complete the exercises in this course. The CD also contains a completed set of all exercise files for your review. It also includes a trial version of Inventor 11 you can use to practice the performance tasks assessed on the certification examination. Installing the Exercise Data Files from the CD To install the data files for the exercises: 1. Insert the courseware CD. 2. Browse to the root directory of the CD. 3. Copy the /Exercise Files folder and all of its contents to a working directory of your choosing. 4. Browse to the folder where the exercise files are installed and make the project file IV 11 User Prep Guide.ipj active. 5. You may also copy the /Completed Exercises folder to your computer. This folder contains a resulting version of every exercise file after the exercise is completed. Be sure to activate IV 11 User Prep Guide Complete.ipj to review the completed exercise files.
