1 Consulting Engineers & Architects McCook, Nebraska Hastings, Nebraska ACME BUILDING DEVELOPMENT ADDENDUM NO. 1 SOUTHERN BELL HEARTLAND LLC HASTINGS, NEBRASKA WDA PROJECT # I. INSTRUCTIONS A. This supplement to the Plans and Specifications is issued prior to the commencement of construction. All work covered in this supplement will be considered one of the Contract Documents. B. All work performed under this supplement shall be subject to the General Conditions of the contract and the specifications for similar work in connection with this project. C. The proposed Contract Documents for this work are modified as follows: II. DRAWINGS A. All drawings in this addendum supersede the original set dated May 2018 comprising of only architectural drawings. This addendum drawing set contains all architecture with updates and now includes Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineering. This drawing set has been re-issued with the date June 2018 in the lower right corner of the drawing. III. SPECIFICATIONS A. SECTION Added section for precast concrete. B. 2 SECTION PRECAST CONCRETE PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 DESCRIPTION A. Work included: Provide precast concrete where shown on the Drawings, as specified herein, and as needed for a complete and proper installation. B. Related work: 1. Documents affecting work of this Section include, but are not necessarily limited to, General Conditions, Supplementary Conditions, and Sections in Division 1 of these Specifications. 2. Section 03300: Cast-in-place concrete. Section 05100: Structural Steel Framing Section 05500: Metal Fabrications 1.2. QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Use adequate numbers of skilled workmen who are thoroughly trained and experienced in the necessary crafts and who are completely familiar with the specified requirements and the methods needed for proper performance of the work of this Section. B. Qualifications of manufacturer: Demonstrate capability to make and provide the specified quality products by attestation of the Prestressed Concrete Institute under the Plant Certification Program. Plant must be A1 Certified Plant at the time of Bidding SUBMITTALS A. Comply with pertinent provisions of Section B. Product data: Within 45 calendar days after the Contractor has received the Owner s Notice to Proceed submit: 1. Materials list of items proposed to be provided under this Section; 2. Manufacturer s specifications and other data needed to prove compliance with the specified requirements; 3. Manufacturers certifications and laboratory test reports as required; 4. Shop Drawings, prepared in accordance with pertinent provisions of Section of these Specifications and showing complete information for fabrication and erection of the work of this Section including, but not necessarily limited to: a. Member dimensions and cross sections; locations, size, and type of reinforcement, including special reinforcement and lifting devices necessary for handling and erection; b. Erection procedures, sequence of erection, and required handling equipment; J:\614_ACME\SPECS\
3 c. Layout, dimensions, and identification of each precast unit corresponding to the sequence and procedure of installation; d. Welded connections, indicated by AWS standard symbols; e. Details of inserts, connections, and joints, including accessories and construction at openings in the precast units; f. Location and details of anchorage devices that are to be embedded in other construction. 5. Provide certification from a Nebraska Professional Engineer certifying the capacity of all ledgers, bearing points and connections for the loads shown on the plans. C. Samples: 1. Accompanying the above submittal, submit precast Samples approximately 12 x 12 x 2, showing quality, texture, and color of the proposed finish. 2. When so requested by the Architect, submit Samples of cast-in gaskets, anchorages, and other attachments and accessories. 3. Prior to start of production, and after the Architect s review of finish Samples, submit one 4 x4 Mockup of each required precast unit, delivered to the job site. 4. Architect s review of Samples will be for color, texture, and general condition only. Compliance with all other requirements is the exclusive responsibility of the Contractor PRODUCT HANDLING A. Comply with pertinent provisions of Section B. Delivery, storage, and handling: 1. Deliver the work of this Section to the job site in such quantities and at such times as to assure the continuity of construction. 2. Store units in a manner to prevent cracking, distortion, warping, staining, and other physical damage, and in a manner to keep markings visible. 3. Lift and support the units only at designated lifting points or supporting points as shown on the approved Shop Drawings. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 PRECAST CONCRETE A. Concrete strength, 5000 psi at 28 days. 2.2 REINFORCEMENT A. Prestressing steel to be ASTM A416, 270 ksi low-relation strand. B. Mild reinforcement to be ASTM A615, Grade 60 (FY=60 ksi) J:\614_ACME\SPECS\
4 C. Welded wire mesh to be ASTM A185. D. Welding shall conform to AWS D1.4 Structural Welding Code Reinforcing Steel with E70XX electrodes. 2.3 STRUCTURAL STEEL A. Plates, angles and rolled sections used for precast embedded connections, loose attaching precast hardware, and precast to precast hangers shall be ASTM A36 Steel (Fy=36 ksi). B. Welding shall conform to AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code with E70XX electrodes. 2.4 INSULATED SANDWICH PANEL A. Extruded polystyrene insulation complying with ASTM C-578, Type IV with the following properties: 1. Thickness: As indicated on plans. 2. AGED R Value: 5 per inch (minimum) at 75F mean temperature 3. Compressive strength: 25 psi (minimum at yield or 10 percent deformation per ASTM D1621) 4. Water Absorption: 0.1 percent maximum per ASTM C272 B. Wythe Connectors: Carbon Fiber Shear grid manufactured to connect wythes of precast concrete panels. C. Fabricator qualifications: PCI Member Plant certified in product group CA, Category A-1. D. Fabrication Standards: PCI MNL-117. E. Design Standards: PCI MNL-120 and ACI THICK BRICK AND ACCESSORIES A. Thin Brick: ASTM C216, Type FBX or ASTM C 1088, Grade Exterior, Type TBX. Thickness not less than ½ inch (13mm) or more than 1 inch (25mm) thick, and as follows: 1. Dimensional Tolerances: Plus 0 inch (0mm) or minus 1/16 inch (1.6mm) for any dimensions 8 inches (203mm) or less and plus 0 inch (0mm) or minus 3/32 inch (2.4mm) for any dimension more than 8 inches (203mm). 2. Out-of-Square Tolerance: Plus or minus 1/16 inch (1.6mm). 3. Warpage Tolerance: Plus 0 inch (0mm) or minus 1/16 inch (1.6mm). 4. Variation of Shape from Specified Angle: Plus or minus one degree. 5. Modulus of Rupture: Not less than 250 psi (1.7 MPa) when tested according to ASTM C Tensile Bond Strength: Not less than 150 psi (1.0 MPa) when tested before and J:\614_ACME\SPECS\
5 after freeze-thaw test according to ASTM E 488 as modified. Adhere a steel plate with a welded rod on a single thin-brick face with epoxy for each test Hour Cold-Water Absorption: Not more than 6 percent when tested according to ASTM C Freeze-Thaw Resistance: No detectable disintegration or separation after 300 freezing-and-thawing cycles when tested according to ASTM C 666/C 666M, Method B. 9. Chemical Resistance: Tested according to ASTM C 650 and rated not affected. 10. Efflorescence: Tested according to ASTM C 67 and rated not effloresced. 11. Surface Coating: Thin brick with colors or textures applied as coating shall withstand 50 cycles of freezing and thawing; ASTM C 67 with no observable difference in applied finish when viewed from 10 feet (3m). 12. Black Surface Texture: Scored, combed, wire roughened, ribbed, keybacked, or dovetailed. B. Special Shapes: Include corners, edge corners, and end edge corners. C. Face Size: Modular. D. Face Color and Texture: Refer to Exterior Elevation Sheet A2.10. E. Sand-Cement Mortar: Portland cement, ASTM C 150M, Type I, and clean, natural sand, ASTM C 144. Mix at ratio of 1 part cement to 4 parts sand, by volume, with minimum water required for placement. F. Pointing Grout: Packaged, polymer-modified, sanded grout complying with ANSI A Colors: As selected by Architect from manufacturer s full range. 2.6 GROUT MATERIALS A. Sand-Cement Grout: Portland cement, ASTM C 150/C 150M, Type I, and clean, natural sand, ASTM C 144 or ASTM C 404. Mix at ration 1 part cement to 2-1/2 to 3 parts sand, by volume, with minimum water required for placement and hydration. Water-soluble chloride ion content less than 0.06 percent by weight of cement when tested according to ASTM C 1218/C 1218M. B. Nonmetallic, Nonshrink Grout: Packaged, nonmetallic, noncorrosive, nonstaining grout containing selected silica sands, Portland cement, shrinkage-compensating agents, plasticizing and water-reducing agents, complying with ASTM C 1107/C 1107M, Grade A for drypack and Grades B and C for flowable grout and of consistency suitable for application within a 30-minute working time. Water-soluble chloride ion content less than 0.06 percent by weight of cement when tested according to ASTM C 1218/C 1218M. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 SURFACE CONDITIONS A. Examine the areas and conditions under which work of this Section will be performed. Correct conditions detrimental to timely and proper completion of the Work. Do not proceed until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected J:\614_ACME\SPECS\
6 3.2 COORDINATION A. Coordinate as required with other trades to assure proper and adequate provision in the work of those trades for interface with the work of this Section. 3.3 INSTALLATION A. Install the work of this Section in strict accordance with the original design, the approved Shop Drawings, pertinent requirements of governmental agencies having jurisdiction, and the manufacturer s recommended installation procedures as approved by the Architect, anchoring all components firmly into position for long life under hard use. B. Bearing pads: 1. Provide flexible bearing pads where indicated on the approved Shop Drawings. 2. Set pads on level and uniform bearing surfaces. Maintain in correct position until all precast units are in place: C. Welding: 1. Comply with AWS D1.0 and D12.1, including prequalification of welders. D. Powder actuated fasteners: 1. Do not use powder actuated fasteners for surface attachment of accessory items except as specifically approved by the Architect and specifically accepted by the precast unit manufacturer. E. Grouting: 1. Use only the grout system or systems recommended by the manufacturer of the precast units and approved by the Architect. 2. Provide forms or other acceptable method to retain the grout in place until it is sufficiently hard to support itself. 3. Pack spaces with stiff grout material, tamping voids completely full. Place the grout in a manner to finish smooth, plumb, and level with adjacent concrete surfaces. 4. Keep grouted surfaces damp for not less than 24 hours after grout has taken its initial set. Promptly remove grout material from exposed surfaces before it hardens. 3.4 CLEANING: A. Clean mortar, plaster, fireproofing, weld slag, and other deleterious material from concrete surfaces and adjacent materials immediately. B. Clean exposed surfaces of precast concrete units after erection and completion of joint treatment to remove weld marks, other markings, dirt, and stains J:\614_ACME\SPECS\
7 1. Perform cleaning procedures, in necessary, according to precast concrete fabricator s written recommendations. Protect other work from staining or damage due to cleaning operations. 2. Do not use cleaning materials or processes that could change the appearance of exposed concrete finishes or damage adjacent materials J:\614_ACME\SPECS\
8 SECTION FINISH HARDWARE 1. Scope of Work A. The work required under this division shall include all material and services necessary for the proper furnishing of all finish hardware. It is the intention of these specifications to provide complete finish hardware to equip all doors for perfect operation. 2. General Requirements A. The firm supplying the hardware shall employ a member of the American Society of Architectural Hardware Consultants or a consultant approved by the architect for this project. He shall be available during all phases of construction for consultation and technical assistance. B. The finish hardware supplier must furnish through the general contractor, within thirty days after the awarding of the contract a complete detailed schedule of all hardware requirements. This schedule must show the architect's hardware heading numbers and must show all door and frame types, materials, size, hand, and hardware manufacturer. Review of the finish hardware schedule and of the materials supplied will be subject to review by the architect's consultant for architectural hardware for the project. C. If requested by the architect, physical samples shall be submitted for each item. Such samples shall remain with the Architect until hardware installation is substantially completed. The samples may be installed on this project. D. The supplier shall furnish schedules, templates, or any other pertinent information required to the door and frame manufacturer(s) within ten days of receipt of the approved Finish Hardware Schedule. Any hardware to be supplied by the door manufacturer shall be shipped prepaid by the hardware supplier to the manufacturer's plant. One copy of the door supplier's shop drawings should be available to the hardware supplier. E. No hardware shall be ordered or sent to the job until the architect has approved the schedule. Approval of the schedule by the architect does not relieve the hardware supplier of the meeting of all terms of the specifications. F. Each item of hardware delivered to the job must be new, in the manufacturer's original package, and free from defects. It must be properly marked in accordance with the approved schedule. 3. Product and Performance Requirements A. The architect will require the following guarantees and performance: 1. A meeting with the owner and the hardware supplier to resolve keying requirements: This may be waived by the architect if such planning is not required. June 8, J:\614_ACME\SPECS\
9 2. The hardware supplier shall, on or accompanying his letterhead, transmit through the General Contractor to the Architect/Owner: 4. Keying and Key Control a. Certification that he has inspected the hardware installation and that all hardware is in perfect operation. This shall be done after all hardware is installed and prior to the architect's final inspection. b. A written guarantee of five years on all door closers and of one year on all other finish hardware. c. A binder which contains a finish hardware schedule, catalog cuts and maintenance and adjustment manuals for all hardware items supplied. The binder should also give graphic analysis of the keying of the project and should clearly identify the hardware supplier. A. All cylinders shall be keyed in accordance with the owner's requirements. All cylinders must be factory keyed. Master keys, grandmaster keys, or great-grandmaster keys will be supplied in quantities required by the owner and shall be stamped "Do Not Duplicate". Furnish three keys per keyed lock. B. All keys must be machine stamped with their DHI key group designation. C. All locks to be construction master keyed. 5.
