The requirements of the Owner's General Conditions, Supplementary Conditions, Special Conditions, and Division 1 - General Requirements apply to the work of this Section. B. Coordinate the work of this Section with related trades. C. Verify applicable extents of work and dimensions at the jobsite. D. Furnish materials and perform labor required to execute this work as indicated on the drawings, as specified herein and as necessary to complete the work required by project conditions, including but not limited to: 1. Precast Concrete Trench Utility Trench Sections - Owner furnished, Contractor installed (OFCI) 2. Precast Concrete Steam Vaults - Owner furnished, Contractor installed (OFCI) 3. Bids shall be based upon the specified product(s). The specified product(s) have been used in preparing the Drawings and Specifications and thus establish minimum qualities that substitutions must meet to qualify as acceptable. In case of conflict between the Standard Specifications and these Specifications, whichever is greater and more stringent shall govern. H. Agency having jurisdiction: (AHJ) 1. When reference is made to the Standards it shall be understood that reference is to the Standard Specifications and Standard Detail Drawings of the jurisdiction herein indicated 1.03 PERFORMANCE, TESTING AND INSPECTION A. General: 1. Comply with manufacturer's standards. 2. Comply with Building Code. 3. Job site inspections shall be done as herein specified and as listed in drawings. 4. Testing shall be done as herein specified and as listed in drawings SUBMITTALS B. Submit O&M (Operation and Maintenance) manuals in accordance with Exhibit "C" Contract. C. General Conditions and as herein specified. D. Submit Manufacturers data and shop drawings. 1. Manufacturer's data: Submit complete data on materials including accessories and fittings. 2. Layout Drawings: Submit layouts of all utility trenches and vaults including all required openings. 3. Concrete mix design certificates and testing reports QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Contractor/Installer/Fabricator shall have been in business for five (5) years providing/installing/finishing projects of similar size and complexity. B. Manufacturer shall have been in business for five (5) years providing/installing/finishing projects of similar size and complexity. C. Pre-Installation Conference: A pre-installation conference shall be held prior to commencement of field operations to establish procedures to maintain optimum working conditions and to coordinate this work with related and adjacent work PRODUCT DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING 1.07 GUARANTEE / WARRANTY B. Furnish one (1) year written warranty signed by manufacturer and installer agreeing to repair and/or replace work which has failed as a result of defects in materials or workmanship. 1. Upon notification of Owner within the warranty period, such defects shall be repaired and replaced at no cost to the Owner.

Related work includes, but is not limited to the following: 1. Sitework. 2. Underground electrical 3. Existing street utilities 1.09 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE DATA A. Submit as part of project closeout: 1. Complete instructions regarding maintenance of the materials, etc SEQUENCING AND SCHEDULING A. Schedule work and sequence with General Contractor. B. Schedule required testing, prior to the installation of materials, components, etc. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS A. Single source responsibility, specified items shall be from one manufacturer for each product type. B. All products and materials indicated shall be installed according to current listed specification requirements and manufacturers specifications/recommendations. C. Refer to drawings, details, and other related specification section whether listed or not. D. Details shall set basic requirements for size and configuration of systems. E. Basis of Design: Provide all precast concrete components shown on the plans and as needed for a complete and proper installation. Provide basis of design product, or equal product approved by Engineer prior to bid in accordance with project bidding requirements PRECAST CONCRETE STEAM VAULTS - Owner furnished, Contractor installed (OFCI) A. Description: Precast steam vaults designed in accordance with ASTM C 858, comprising modular, interlocking sections complete with accessories. Jensen Precast Steam Vault or equivalent. B. Loading: ASTM C 857, Class A-16. C. Shape: As indicated on plans. D. Nominal Inside Dimensions: 10 feet x 8 feet. E. Inside Depth: 9 feet 6 inches. F. Base Section: Include 18 inch x 18 inch sump blockout. G. Top Section: Include 39 inch diameter grooved opening for frame and cover. H. Riser Casting: 6 inch, with step cast into frame. I. Frames and Covers: ASTM A 48; Class 30B gray cast iron, 27 inch size, machine finished with flat bearing surfaces. Provide cover marked STEAM to indicate utility. J. Ladder: Aluminum, with top hook to engage manhole step in riser casting. Provide one ladder for each vault. K. Sump Covers: ASTM A 48; Class 30B gray cast iron. L. Source Quality Control: Inspect manholes in accordance with ASTM C PRECAST CONCRETE JUNCTION BOX (TURN VAULT) - Owner furnished, Contractor installed (OFCI) A. General: Jensen Precast Junction Box or Pre-Approved Equal Model, meeting the following requirements:

AASHTO M 198 and ASTM C 990, bitumen or butyl rubber PRECAST CONCRETE UTILITY TRENCH - Owner furnished, Contractor installed (OFCI) A. General: Jensen Precast Utility Trench Sections or Pre-Approved Equal Model, with provision for sealant at joints, meeting the following requirements: 1. Shape/Size: As indicated on plans. 2. Loading: ASTM C 857, Class A Depth of Bury: As indicated on plans. 4. Lateral Soil Pressure: 60 lbs/cft. 5. Earth Dead Load: 120 lbs/cft plus 1.15 Soil Interaction Factor. 6. AASHTO M 198 and ASTM C 990, bitumen or butyl rubber 2.05 PRECAST CONCRETE MATERIALS AND MIX DESIGN A. General: Precast concrete according to NPCA Quality Control Manual. B. Reinforcing Materials: 1. Reinforcing Bars: ASTM A 615/A 615M, Grade 60 (Grade 420), deformed. 2. Low-Alloy-Steel Reinforcing Bars: ASTM A 706/A 706M, deformed. 3. Steel Bar Mats:ASTM A 184/A 184M, fabricated from ASTM A 615/A 615M, Grade 60 (Grade 420), deformed bars, assembled with clips. 4. Plain-Steel Welded Wire Reinforcement: ASTM A 185, fabricated from as-drawn steel wire into flat sheets. 5. Deformed-Steel Welded Wire Reinforcement: ASTM A 497/A 497M, flat sheet. C. Concrete Materials: 1. Portland Cement: ASTM C 150, Type I, II or V. 2. Blended Cements: ASTM C Supplementary Cementitious Materials: 4. Fly Ash: ASTM C 618, Class C or F. 5. Aggregates: ASTM C 33 free from deleterious or reactive substances. 6. Water: ASTM C 1602, free from deleterious material. Use of reclaimed/recycled process water is acceptable. 7. Air-Entraining Admixture: ASTM C Chemical Admixtures: ASTM C 494/C 494M, water reducing; high-range water reducing; water reducing and accelerating; and water reducing and retarding. Do not use admixtures containing chlorides CONCRETE DESIGN MIXTURES A. Prepare design mixtures for each type of precast concrete required, by qualified independent laboratory or by manufacturer's qualified personnel at plant serving project. B. Proportion normal-weight concrete mixes to provide the following properties: 1. Minimum Compressive Strength: 5000 psi (34.5 MPa) at 28 days. 2. Maximum Water-Cementitious Materials Ratio: 0.40 maximum. 3. Air Content: 5.5 to 7.5 percent for concrete exposed to freezing and thawing, 2.5 to 4.5 percent elsewhere. C. Concrete Mixing: Comply with NPCA Quality Control Manual D. Finishes: Standard for formed surfaces. Trowel unformed surfaces. E. Replace precast concrete units deficient in strength, manufacturing tolerances, and finishes FABRICATION A. Fabricate precast concrete units according to NPCA Manual. B. Reinforcement: Comply with NPCA Quality Control Manual for fabricating, placing, and

5 Page 5 of 6 ADDENDUM #1 supporting reinforcement. 1. Fabricated cages of reinforcement either by tying bars, wires or welded wire reinforcement into rigid assemblies 2. Position reinforcing as specified by design, meeting minimum concrete cover requirements. Concrete cover minimum tolerance shall be one-third of that specified but not more than 1/2 inch (12 mm) but not less than 1/2 inch (12 mm). C. Comply with NPCA Quality Control Manual for measuring, mixing, transporting, and placing concrete. D. Print Manufactures Name, Job, Trench, Vault, and Casting Date on each precast structural concrete unit on a surface that will not show in finished structure. E. Discard and replace precast concrete box culvert units that do not comply with requirements unless repairs meet requirements and engineer's approval SOURCE QUALITY CONTROL A. Testing Agency: Owner will engage a qualified testing agency to evaluate precast structural concrete fabricator's quality-control and testing methods. B. Testing: Test and inspect precast structural concrete according to referenced design standards. C. Defective Units: Discard and replace precast structural concrete units that do not comply with requirements 2.09 OTHER MATERIALS (ACCESSORIES) - Contractor furnished, Contractor installed (CFCI) A. Provide other materials, not specifically described but required for a complete and proper installation, as selected by the General Contractor subject to the approval of the Architect. B. Joint Baker Material: Closed cell baker-rod and soft backer rod, closed cell polyethelene foam. ASTM C 1330, Type c. C. Sealant: One part polyurethene elastomeric sealant/adhesive. ASTM C-920, Type S, Grade NS, Class 25. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 EXAMINATION A. Verify that field measurements are as indicated. B. Verify routing and termination locations of utility trenches and vaults prior to excavation for rough-in. C. Verify locations of existing vaults prior to excavating for installation. D. Identify conditions detrimental to proper or timely completion of work and coordinate with General Contractor to rectify. E. Examine and verify that receiving conditions of substrate have no defects or errors, which would result in poor or potentially defective application or cause latent defects in workmanship. F. Utility trench routing is shown in approximate locations unless dimensions are indicated. Route as required to complete system. G. Vault locations are shown in approximate locations unless dimensions are indicated. Locate as required to complete utility trench system routing INSTALLATION OF PRECAST CONCRETE TRENCH SECTIONS A. Install precast concrete structure sections with sealants per ASTM C 990. B. Install precast concrete units to lines and grades indicated. Lift units by suitable lifting devices at points provided. Install units in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. C. For multi-cell installations, install multiple units in parallel utilizing compacted earth fill, granular fill, flowable fill, or grouting to establish positive lateral bearing. D. Commence setting units at downstream end of line, with grooved ends of box bottom segments facing upstream. Place bottom of each segment in full contact with prepared bedding. After joining units, check for alignment and grade. E. Keep interior of units free of dirt and other foreign material as setting of units progresses. Leave installation clean at completion of work. F. Reset units not in true alignment, which show settlement, or are damaged.

6 Page 6 of 6 ADDENDUM #1 G. Joint units in such a manner that ends are fully entered and inner surfaces are flush and even, with maximum allowable gap between joints of 0.5 inch. Check joint and gap immediately after laying each unit. H. Install trench sections at slope and elevation as indicated on plans. Coordinate installation with steam condensate piping requirements. I. Provide suitable fittings to accommodate expansion and deflection where required. J. Seal joint between trenches and vaults with backing material and joint filler to form water tight connection INSTALLATION OF PRECAST CONCRETE VAULTS A. Install precast concrete units in compliance with manufacturer's instructions. B. Install precast concrete units to lines, grades, and inverts indicated. Lift units by suitable lifting devices at points provided. Install units in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. C. Place bottom of each precast concrete unit in full contact with prepared bedding. Check for alignment and grade. D. Tests and Inspections: Verify bearing substrate preparation and compaction. Verify unit placement and joints meet requirements of referenced design and quality control standards FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Perform tests and inspections and prepare test reports. B. Tests and Inspections: Verify unit placement and joints meet requirements of referenced design and quality control standards. C. Remove and replace components of the precast concrete sections that do not pass tests and inspections and retest as specified above. D. Repairing Minor Defects: 1. Boxes which are cracked, checked or damaged shall not be placed and will be removed from the work unless appropriate repair procedures are submitted and approved. 2. Fine cracks and checks on the surface of the member which do not extend to the plane of the nearest reinforcement will not be cause for rejection unless they are numerous and extensive. Cracks which extend into the plane of the reinforcing shell shall be repaired in an approved manner. 3. Small damaged or honeycombed areas, which are purely surface in nature, shall be repaired in an approved manner. Excessive damage, honeycomb, or cracking will be subject to structural review. All repairs shall be made sound, properly finished, and cured according to the pertinent repair procedure. When fine cracks or hair checks on the surface indicate poor curing practices, the production of precast boxes shall be discontinued until corrections are made and proper curing is provided PROTECTION AND CLEAN UP A. Subcontractor will keep the work areas in a clean and safe condition so his rubbish, waste, and debris do not interfere with the work of others. B. Protect work and materials of this Section prior to and during installation, and protect the installed work and materials of other trades. C. Perform work in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations, as herein specified and in accordance with drawings. D. In the event of damage, immediately make all repairs and replacements necessary to the approval of the Architect and at no cost to the Owner. E. After completion of work in this section, remove all erection equipment and implements of service, and debris. 1. Leave entire area in a neat, clean, acceptable condition. END OF SECTION
