1 Art 202-Intermediate Drawing M: 5:50-10-pm CAC 1. Office CAI 221 or CAC 1: M, T, Th 4:45-5:45, W: 4:20-5:50, F. 2:10-3:10 Professor Barbara Kerwin: This is an intermediate course in color drawing that furthers student problem-solving describing basic and complex forms with various drawing methods. The Elements and Principles of Art and Design are used and shall be employed through out the course to create satisfying compositions. The components of color are value (addition of white OR black), intensity (which neutralizes a given color by adding the complement, or color opposite on the color wheel), and Hue variation (by adding colors next to the given hue on the color wheel). Color assignments will be carried out with oil pastel (sometimes + turpenoid) and Q-tips, watercolor pencils, colored pencil, (chalk) pastels, and warm and cool markers. Art 202 Students will learn to draw heads, hands, and feet of the figure, with correct anatomical proportions. Students will become adept using 1-point and 2-point freehand perspective within light systems using warm and cool markers. 202 students are expected to develop a portfolio that includes color drawing in a variety of media--in addition to black and white studies. CLASS PROCEDURES Studio sessions will be accompanied by lectures, slides and demonstrations. Because this is an intermediate class, students are expected to be familiar with basic drawing techniques (PREREQUISITE--ART 201 C or better). Class discussions and critiques of completed assignments will assist students in evaluating their own work and in communicating their observations of classmates work in a supportive manner in which to learn. Assignments will be carried out in class. Homework will include 4-or more hours/week. EVALUATIONS AND GRADING: (LATE ASSIGNMENTS = ONE GRADE REDUCTION PER DAY LATE!) A. Class progress one point per full lab 15 points B.
