2 nd Year TG Portfolio Inside you will find: What is required of you for each portfolio sheet. An assessment rubric for each portfolio sheet to guide you towards maximum learning. You will need an A3 display folder for your portfolio. This is separate to your classwork folder.

2 nd Year TG Portfolio Information Each portfolio sheet must be lined out allowing space for teacher feedback, peer feedback and self assessment. Each sheet will contain the solution to a given drawing question, a handwritten Key Principle that explains the underlying principle of the drawing or topic, a freehand sketching exercise and one or more definitions of Key Terms related to the topic. The layout and presentation of each sheet are up to you. If you keep on top of your portfolio work, the sheets will be very manageable and will be a valuable revision resource.

2 nd Year TG Portfolio Information On each brief you will find the following: Drawing Key Term(s) Key Principle(s) Question This is the question you must solve on the sheet. This is a sketching exercise you must complete. These are words related to the topic that you must explain. These are the underlying principles explaining the solution. Sometimes instead of explaining a Key Principle you ll be asked to answer a question. You ll be expected to do this using a mixture of sketches and writing.

2 nd Year TG Portfolio Information Following each brief will be an assessment rubric telling you exactly what you should be aiming for in order to reach maximum learning potential. These rubrics will contain three learning levels: Novice; Adept; and Expert. An example of a rubric is shown below Sheet No. 1 Novice Adept Expert Drawing Some effort evident at solution. Neatness and accuracy needing a lot of work. No labelling or indexing present. Positioning of the solution is incorrect or ineffective. No annotation. Complete solution with some mistakes in measurement or positioning. Partially labelled and indexed. Neatness and accuracy are good but could be better. Some annotation evident. Complete solution with no mistakes. Excellent neatness and accuracy. Fully labelled and indexed. Correct and effective positioning of drawing. Annotation is present and explains the process of achieving the solution Sketch is out of proportion. No colour or shading used. Little effort made in sketching the projections of the object. Sketch is not annotated. The sketch is in proportion. Some effort made at colouring/shading the sketch with room for improvement. Projections of the object are visible. Sketch is annotated. A fully rendered and proportional sketch. Projections of the object are excellently drawn and link to the object. The sketch is fully annotated and labelled Key Terms Some effort made at defining the key terms. No examples given. Writing is messy. No guidelines used. No sketches used to help explain the key terms. Key terms are defined correctly. Vague examples given. Writing is good Some sketches used to explain key terms. Key terms are fully defined with clear examples given. Writing is excellent with accompanying sketches which compliment the definitions and help explain them.

2 nd Year TG Portfolio Sheet 1 Ellipse 1 Drawing The figure below shows an entrance gateway. The design is based on a semi-ellipse with major axis 120mm and minor axis 70mm.
