3 Ammonia Refrigeration System Pipe Marking Complies with IIAR (International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration) Standards IIAR standards require the posting of a component identification and abbreviation reference chart to explain pipe marking in areas that are conspicuous to operating personnel. The reference chart shall be made of durable material that will remain legible. (IIAR #114 Section 7.0) ABBREVIATIONS Abbreviations for Ammonia System Components - Print abbreviations in black on yellow. 2. PHYSICAL STATE LIQ - Liquid - Black or white printed on orange VAP - Vapor - Black or white printed on blue* LIQ/VAP - Use both if both states exist *DuraLabel Sky Blue Premium Vinyl is recommended. 3.
