For the German-Chinese trade association, gaining entry into the University of Tübingen and CCT through the Erich- Paulun-Institute allows us to contribute to strengthening cooperations of our countries in this respect. 3 The German-Chinese musical band SinoGerman Sounds completes the inauguration ceremony experimentally. Prof. Helwig Schmidt- Glintzer, CCT-Director Ideally, the unique feature of CCT should be combining academic neutrality and independence with human closeness and respect for different cultures. The necessary distance that we scientists naturally keep towards the unknown, should also apply to us. Then something new may emerge. Embassy Counsellor Prof. DONG Qi underlines the importance of the new institute. The founding of CCT marks a new chapter of China research. In my opinion, this happens at exactly the right moment. Today, China and Germany have a partnership which is closer and more trustful than ever before. Both in the structure and in the choice of topics I can see an especially promising concept. Welcoming TU Weiming as guest speaker in the celebration hall of the Exzellence-University was a great honor for the University. 4 In his opening words, the founder Karl Schlecht also asked for support for the China Center through others. Supporting programme: Prof. TU Weiming and Karl Schlecht were happy to meet again and exchange views. Also business representatives like Prof. Dr. Hermann Schaufler, former Economic Minister of the State of Baden- Württembergs (left), came to the inauguration ceremony to exchange views about China. 4/5
