1 Tango20 About Tango20 Tango20 is a math strategy card game for 2 players. The game consists of 32 cards; 20 cards valuing 1 point; 10 cards valuing 2 point; 2 Tango20 cards (1 for each player) Each card has their respective value written on their face. The Tango20 cards act as wild cards and can assume any value from 1 points to 3 points, as per the choice of the player. The player can choose to use these cards at any time during the game. The mission of this game is to dump the cards until the total of the dumping pile equals 20. Who wins? The player who makes the total of dumping pile equal to 20. How to play Tango20? 1. Divide the cards into 2 active-piles; 1-point pile and 2-points pile. 2. Next, decide which player makes the first move; let s call her Player Player 1 picks a card from either of the two active-piles and dumps it face up calling out loud the total value of the dumping-pile 4. Now, it is Player 2 s turn. She too picks up one card from either of the active-piles and dumps it simultaneously calling out loud the total of the dumping-pile. Say, Player 1 plays a 1-point card in the first turn and Player 2 plays a 2-point card, then the total of dumping-pile becomes The game continues in the similar fashion until the value of the dumping pile equals 20. Tango20 helps build your brain in the following ways: 1. Builds problem solving abilities. Both the players have one goal in mind, to make the total of dumping-pile equal to 20, and the same resources at disposal. 2. Improves critical thinking. Winning this game will require you to critically work out a strategy for which you will need to flex your brain muscles. 3. Upholds mental acuity.

2 This game is not only for kids; this will be equally challenging for adults too. Playing this game will give the brain adequate exercise and will keep it keen and sharp. 4. Improves math skills. Kids learn number recognition and addition. For adults, this game will be about recognizing patterns, logic, and ability to play around with variable in the head. 5. Enhances planning abilities. Every move in this game will lead you to your goal, but it requires planning ahead and heeding consequences of each action. 6. Betters logic and efficiency. The game improves logic as the players are constrained with respect to the number of cards and the card points and thus will think before making each move. Efficiency is built as there is competition involved and both the opponents have the same goal.

3 How to make your own Tango20 What you may need? 1. A memory stick. 2. Contact of a local print store. 3. Good quality paper cutter. 4. A small, durable plastic or cardboard storage box. Reasons why printing at a print store is better than printing it at home 1. Cards printed at print stores are longer-lasting. 2. Print stores will ensure that there is minimum paper wastage. What to do next? 1. Download and save the pdf in a memory stick and take it to your print store. 2. Opt for the 80 pound or 215 gsm paper cardboard for printing to ensure durability of cards. 3. Carefully cut the cards. Use a ruler while cutting to avoid frayed edges. 4. Store the cards in a good quality plastic or cardboard box to prevent them from getting misplaced.

4 What more? If the game seems too easy and you wish to introduce certain complexities, you can try the following: 1. The player making the move shall call out loud the correct renewed total of the dumping-pile. 2. The total shall be called out only once and shall not be repeated; the other player needs to be attentive. 3. At any time during the game, the players are not allowed to check the dumping-pile or the activepiles to find the total of the dumping-pile. In case any of the above rule is broken, i.e. If the renewed total called out by any player is incorrect; If the total call is repeated by a player; If any player checks the dumping-pile or the active-piles to find the total; The player s turn stands cancelled; The card played by the player goes back to the active pile; And the dumping pile total is reduced by 3 points (pull out a 2-point and a 1-point card from dumping-pile and return them to active-pile). If any of the rule is broken while the dumping-pile total is less than 3, then the game restarts. An alternate game Keep all the rules intact, just make the one who scores the dumping-pile total of 20 or more as the loser.
