Banded Pitta Pitta guajana 10/03/ Poring hot springs - ssp schwaneri - 1 flushed and seen bad near the river on the waterfall trail. The trail follows the main river for a while at that point. 17/03/ DVFC full day 1 - ssp schwaneri - 1 reacted to playback but was seen badly on the Waterfall trail. No Banded Pittas were heard calling during 4 days on this trail, but luckily this one was so good to react. 18/03/ DVFC full day 2-1 was seen very well after playback on the Waterfall trail on the same spot. The spot can be recognised by two fallen logs (distance approx 10 meters) that are perpendicular on the direction of the trail and that are cut through (to clear the trail). Blue-headed Pitta Pitta baudii Vulnerable (VU) 20/03/ DVFC full day 4-1 female reacted to random playback and gave good views. Not a single Blue-headed was heard for 4 days on the Waterfall trail, nor on the grid trail (were less time was spent). Blue-banded Pitta Pitta arquata 10/03/ Poring hot springs - HO - At the first patch of bamboo going up the Langanan waterfall trail, after the second river crossing. Only calling briefly and no response to playback. 20/03/ DVFC full day 4 - NC - Not seen by myself - Joris saw a flash of red and blue over the trail while I was exploring the bamboo at the end of the Waterfall trail. Most probably this species. Banded Pitta Pitta guajana 10/03/ Poring hot springs - ssp schwaneri - 1 flushed and seen bad near the river on the waterfall trail. The trail follows the main river for a while at that point. 17/03/ DVFC full day 1 - ssp schwaneri - 1 reacted to playback but was seen badly on the Waterfall trail. No Banded Pittas were heard calling during 4 days on this trail, but luckily this one was so good to react. 18/03/ DVFC full day 2-1 was seen very well after playback on the Waterfall trail on the same spot. The spot can be recognised by two fallen logs (distance approx 10 meters) that are perpendicular on the direction of the trail and that are cut through (to clear the trail). Blue-headed Pitta Pitta baudii Vulnerable (VU) 20/03/ DVFC full day 4-1 female reacted to random playback and gave good views. Not a single Blue-headed was heard for 4 days on the Waterfall trail, nor on the grid trail (were less time was spent).

Most probably this species.
