Wooden Frames Lethaby has redeveloped the common weak points found on standard wooden umbrella frames to create its heavy duty wooden frames. Key features include: Slow growing hard wood 48mm pole, made to handle the weight of the fabric and wind Super sized ribs, 28mm x 20mm thick Solid brass connectors for extra strength on the main pole Solid brass or aluminium/brass coated fitting for increased rust resistance. Aluminium Frames The aluminium frame has been strengthened even more than the wooden frame. Utilizing its extensive knowledge and history, Lethaby uses a thick aluminium main pole and reinforces the extra heavy duty ribs. Key features include: 48mm main pole with extra wall thickness Super sized ribs, 30mm x 20mm thick plus reinforcing inside of the ribs All fittings have been designed to increase rust resistance.

Immediately upon purchasing, open the umbrella fully and lie on its side. Spray with an appropriate fabric guard, allow to dry. Two coats is ideal. To maintain, hose off the umbrella to remove dirt and then, when dry, re-apply another layer. The treatment is particularly effective on Planosol fabric. Avoid leaving your umbrella up if unattended. When not in use, protect from the elements with an umbrella sleeve. Ensure the umbrella is dry before covering or storing. During winter or periods when not regularly in use, we recommend storing indoors (cover with sleeve to protect from dirt/ dust). Do not use solvents or abrasive detergents, simply allow the umbrella to dry and then brush off loose dirt. If required, clean with a natural soap in lukewarm water and rinse several times with clean water. What Size Umbrella Suits? Measure the total area you want your umbrella shade to cover. As a guide, the umbrella should extend out about 2 feet (half a metre or so) on all sides of your table / seated area.
