2 Program Cover Contest When preparing for the program cover contest, please comply with the following rules: 1. The program cover MUST be designed and/or crafted by students. 2. The program cover should NOT exceed 8.5 x The program cover may be folded. 4. The design on the cover must represent the state theme or any one or all of the state target. 5. The back of the cover may have design also. 6. The design MUST be clear and print ready. It may be a black-line drawing or computer generated graphics. Color is optional. Final product will be black and white copy. 7. Appropriate lettering should be used. 8. Front cover should include: FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) District X Current Date of the meeting 9. Attach a 3 x5 index card to the back of the program cover. Include the following information: (No division is needed since there is only 1 program) School/Chapter name Advisor s name State theme or target represented Name (s) of the designer, creator, workers 10. Mail your entry to the advisor at the school in charge of the program cover contest. It must be postmarked by the October 29, 2010 deadline

4 Hand Constructed Banner Contest When preparing for the banner contest, please comply with the following rules: 1. The banner MUST be designed and/or crafted by students. 2. Banners should NOT exceed 2 x Banners can be continued of any type of woven or nonwoven fabric. (NOT PAPER) 4. The design on the FRONT of the banner must represent the state theme or one of the state targets. 5. The banner MUST have a backing. Each chapter has the option of leaving the backing plain or may represent their individual school (name, mascot, etc.) on the back. 6. The following items are UNACCEPTABLE for use in the design: Commercially made letters (iron-ons) Commercially made transfers or graphics (iron-ons) Commercially made details Commercially made pins (buttons) 7. The following items are ACCEPTABLE for use in the design: Permanent markers Paint Glue Glitter glue or paint Ribbons, string, yarn, other items, fringes, and cut fabric 8. Items may be attached with glue, pins, stitch witchery, Wonder Under, machine or hand sewn. 9. Attach a safety pin a 3 x5 index card to the back of the banner. Include the following information: School/Chapter name Division (Jr. or Sr.) Advisor s name State theme or target represented Name (s) of the designer, creator, workers 10. 6 Machine/Computer Designed Banner Contest When preparing for the computer generated banner contest, please comply with the following rules: 1. The banner MUST be designed and/or crafted by students. 2. Banners should NOT exceed 2 x3. 3. Banners can be constructed on any type of woven or nonwoven fabric. (NOT PAPER) 4. The design on the FRONT of the banner must represent the state theme or one of the state targets. 5. The banner MUST have a backing. Each chapter has the option of leaving the backing plane or may represent their individual school (name, mascot, etc.) on the back. 6. The design may be generated on a computer and transferred to the banner fabric using a heat transfer method. The design may be created on a computerized sewing machine and sewn onto to the banner fabric. 7. The following items are UNACCEPTABLE to enhance the design: Commercially made letters, transfers, graphics (iron-ons), details Commercially made pins (buttons). Glitter 8. The following items are ACCEPTABLE for use in the design: Permanent markers Paint Glue Glitter glue or paint Ribbons, string, yarn, other trims, fringes, and cut fabrics 9. Items may be attached with glue, pins, stitch witchery, Wonder Under, machine or hand sewn.

All T-shirts will be sized large or X-large. (this is to have adequate space to work on a design.) 3. T-shirts MUST be white, round neck. They must be 100% cotton or a cotton-polyester blend. 4. The design on the FRONT of the T-shirt must represent the state theme or one of the sate targets. 5. Each chapter has the option of leaving the back undesigned, or may represent their individual school (name, mascot, etc.) on the back. 6. The following items are UNACCEPTABLE for use in the design: Commercially made letters, transfers, graphics, patches, (iron-ons) Commercially made details Commercially made pins (buttons) 7. The following items are ACCEPTABLE for use in the design: Permanent markers Paint Glue Glitter glue or paint Ribbons, string, yarn, cut fabric, shoe laces, zippers, sewn on buttons or other trims 8.
