1 RESTRICTED GENERAL AGREEMENT ON %$L*» r 1963 TARIFFS AND TRADE Limited Distribution Original: Spanish CENTRAL AMERICAIN? ECONOMIC INTEGRATION Annual Report (1963) by the Government of Nicaragua The secretariat has received from the Government of Nicaragua the following report on Nicaragua's trade with the other members of the Central American area (except Costa Rica) under the General Treaty for Central American Economic Integration of 13 December i960 (cf. document SR.20/5, page 63).. ;'! '. This report covers imports and exports during the period of 1 January to 31 December At the same time '," details are furnished of the amount and percentage of Nicaragua's imports from and exports to the other countries in the Central American area, the appropriate deduction being made in respect of imports and exports not covered by the General Treaty. The report also indicates Nicaragua's total import and export trade with all countries and the percentage constituted by imports and exports within the Central American area as compared with total imparts and exports. This report is submitted in compliance with the Nicaraguan Government's undertaking to report to GATT on Nicaragua's import and export trade with the countries of the Central American area. 2 Page 2 4,932, Total imports l,27l,8l Imports not covered by- General Treaty- US $3,66l, Imports covered by General Treaty for Central American Economic Integration Imports covered by the General Treaty are broken down into those amounting to more than $5,000, which reached a total of $3,174,173«09, details of which are given in the report, and imports amounting to less than $5,000, which are grouped together and reached a total value of $486,927.93' As may be seen from the foregoing data, out of total imports from the Central American area registered by Nicaragua, per cent were covered by the General Treaty for Central American Economic Integration, and per cent were not covered. Nicaragua's total net imports from the Central American area represent 3.65 per cent of Nicaragua's total imports from all countries; if the percentage of imports is computed without any deduction, they amount to 4.92 per cent. Nicaragua's total net exports to the Central American area represents 3.10 per cent of Nicaragua's total exports to all countries; if the percentage of.exports is computed without any deduction, they amount to 3«l6 per cent.
