Tanzania (mainland) maintains import restrictions in the form of a requirement for specific licence against imports of products listed below. Most of the items are subject to specific restrictions for the protection of local infant industries.. In the case of some of the items, import licenses are granted above a certain value which is deemed not to compete unfairly with similar local production. 3. All goods originating in Japan and countries which are not members of GATT or Commonwealth and with whom there exist no bilateral trade agreements, require a specific import licence.
