So I need your $25 0r $50 (weaving) deposits and signed workshop registrations forms by June 1. The remainder due August 1. I will collect for the meals and rooms in August. We have room available in the bunkhouse for the weaving workshop and staff housings rooms available for Judith s workshops earlier in the week. Let me know if you are interested. We did receive a joint grant with Klamath Falls guild. The workshop costs are $65 for each of Judith s plus her material fees and $110 for the weaving workshop plus Robyn s material fees.

2 Show and Sale with Raku Pottery August 11, , Environmental Center, Downtown Bend We are joining with the Raku Pottery group to have a show and sale this summer in downtown Bend. If you are interested in participating as a seller, please contact Linda Gettmann with what you will have to sell. It will be a Joint Sale, we will handle central checkout for all the handwoven, handspun items, they will do their pottery sales. The room will be co-mingled with handwoven items and pottery displays, as a boutique, retail display. We need volunteers to help set up, take down, and work a 2-3 hour shift over the weekend at the checkout table. Proceeds will be split with 20% going to the guild to pay for costs of the sale. Contact Linda Gettmann or Mary Wonser if you are interested in participating in any capacity. Sign-up sheets are available at the monthly guild meetings Exploring fiber in our Backyard Field Trip for COSW We spin, knit, crochet, weave with wool and camelid fibers. How many times have you wondered what the critter looks like? We are proposing a 1/2 day or full day field trip around central Oregon to see some of our sheep and camelids on their home territory. With the High Desert Wool Growers Assc., we have a ready list of folks who raise sheep and sell their fleeces. Logistics: We would meet at a central location to the actual trip and caravan/carpool from there. Plan on a sack lunch, picnic style. 9 2018 Oregon State Fair Exhibitor s handbooks, which include all the information you need to enter the 2018 fair, are now posted on the State Fair website. Just go to and click on competitions/textiles/felting, spinning, weaving. Using the theme, Where Fun Shines, the fair will be August 24 through September34 at the State Fairgrounds in Salem. Registration of proposed entries will begin May 15 at Intake days will be Friday and Saturday, August 17 and 18. There will be remote pickups in Central Oregon, Rogue Valley, Douglas County, Eugene, Beaverton and Portland so entrants don t have to bring their entries to Salem. In far-flung areas without scheduled remote pickups, WeGO will pay postage to send your guild s entries to the fair and the return. Judging will be in these categories: handwoven articles, handspun yarns, handspun yarn articles and felted articles. Prizes will include first, second and third-place ribbons in each category for beginners, intermediate and professional entrants, as well as baskets of fiber-related items for the best in each division. Weaving Guilds of Oregon (WeGO) presents gift certificates to the division winners and a magazine subscription to the best beginner. The fair awards a $250 cash prize to the best of show entry for the department. There is no fee to enter the fair. Exhibitors are limited to 20 entries, all of which must be made by the person entering the item and must not have been entered in a prior Oregon State Fair. However, there are no restrictions on when the item is made. There are divisions for kids and teens, as well as adults. Other departments within the textiles section of the fair are needlework and clothing and quilting. Those handbooks are also available on line. Claudia Gahagan of SFG and Carrie Rohn of the Aurora Colony Handspinners Guild are co-competition chairs for felting, spinning and weaving.
