05 The future of subsea positioning and communications Proserv remains a world leader in supplying advanced underwater acoustic systems, which employs our patented, unique acoustic digital spread spectrum (ADS 2 ) technology to provide world leading subsea positioning and communications capability. Acoustic positioning and communication technology is a key part of our wider subsea services portfolio. Through organic growth and the acquisition of like-minded companies with shared strengths and complementary technologies, Proserv has taken on some of the best known acoustic brands in the industry Nautronix and Helle Engineering, which has strengthened our overall capabilities and expertise. The technology can be used to provide a broad range of standard and bespoke solutions for even the most challenging projects over the life of a subsea field. Positioning and communication technology can be provided as standalone options, integrated as a combined positioning and communication network, or integrated with other services provided by Proserv. ADS 2 SIGNALLING TECHNOLOGY CAPABILITIES Long range and deepwater Highly immune to man-made or natural environmental noise Highly robust in multi-path environments Versatile and configurable sensor interfacing Subsea data logging and data processing Allows for multi user access to positioning network High accuracy low latency real time positioning increasing both vessel and ROV productivity TYPICAL PROJECT TYPES Structure installation Rigid pipe and umbilical lay including cut to length calculations Multibeam survey, with INS integration if required Vessel DP reference Backup communication and control for BOP Field wide advanced subsea positioning system with a concept similar to GPS Primary control of subsea isolation device Corrosion monitoring Mooring line quick release Replacing failed wired communication links

WIRELESS SUBSEA COMMUNICATION Proserv uses advanced acoustic communication technology to provide a reliable and robust method of controlling and monitoring subsea assets over long ranges. From simple transfer of telemetry data to critical applications such as emergency BOP controls, NASCoM can provide a solution.

07 A versatile platform for a wide variety of applications With technology that has been established and proven in military and oil and gas projects, NASCoM uses ADS 2 signalling to achieve reliable, long range wireless communication for remote assets. NASCoM can bring benefits over the life of field, by supporting drilling, production controls and monitoring, asset integrity monitoring and extending the life of asset, as well as long term monitoring of abandoned assets. Proserv NASCoM technology has an established track record for remote subsea control and monitoring applications. This has been extensively proven in the application of emergency blowout preventer (BOP) controls, where NASeBOP provides a premier solution either as backup to primary MUX controls, or as primary control of subsea isolation devices. Showcasing its monitoring capability, NASCoM has also been deployed to monitor multiple reference electrodes as part of a corrosion protection system, ensuring optimal protection is provided to maximise the life of an asset. The range of acoustic communication, along with its reliability and robustness in noisy and multipath environments, ensures that NASCoM provides reliable communication and monitoring without the need for relay nodes. All of these applications are field proven and are being used to help extend the life of an asset and reduce costs to the operator.

Emergency disconnect control Proserv has a 30 year track record in supporting the international oil and gas offshore drilling industry by providing acoustic controls for emergency BOP functions. If umbilical failure occurs and MUX control of the BOP is lost, NASeBOP uses ADS 2 to provide highly secure and reliable wireless communication to instantly take control of the BOP and carry out an emergency disconnect sequence (EDS), if required. NASeBOP provides acoustic communication with controls capability for secondary control of a blowout preventer should primary control on the BOP be lost or cannot be reached safely. Rated to 4,000 metres, the system is fully redundant and includes a complete emergency backup system, which provides a key advantage of being able to monitor the BOP if an EDS is executed. To guarantee operation and timing, the EDS is pre-programmed into the subsea equipment, and on deck tests

09 and integrity tests are conducted on all seals prior to deployment for full peace of mind. NASeBOP features multiple user interfaces, from a feature packed master station installed on the vessel to portable units for emergency control from a lifeboat. An emergency response system can be stored off the vessel, as a backup system, should all other methods of initiating an EDS prove impossible. For full versatility, the system can also be integrated with NASDrill RS925 acoustic dynamic positioning reference system. Corrosion protection monitoring Proserv has applied its ADS 2 advanced acoustic communication technology to the application of monitoring multiple reference electrodes as part of a corrosion protection (CP) system. With NASCoM, measurement data of the corrosion protection status of assets can be recovered without having ROVs or divers in the water. Not only does this enable data to be recovered at a much greater frequency than before, but the cost of doing so is significantly reduced. The range of acoustic communication, along with its reliability and robustness in noisy and multipath environments, ensures that NASCoM provides reliable communication with all monitoring points without the need for relay nodes. Because the monitors are at fixed, permanent locations, errors are less prevalent and data quality, accuracy and repeatability is significantly improved. As a result, NASCoM CP monitoring can play a vital role in extending the life of the asset and reducing costs to the operator.

11 Asset control and monitoring NASCoM provides a versatile combination of hardware options, enabling remote control of actuators, solenoids, subsea valves, chemical injection and remote releases. It also enables monitoring of subsea assets for pressure, flow, temperature, volume, orientation, depth and switch inputs. With NASCoM, the cost of umbilical installation is avoidable providing significant savings over the life of field. NASCoM s ADS 2 signalling technology ensures no interference from unwanted manmade or natural sources, making it the perfect partner for long range, high integrity remote control and monitoring of subsea systems. The multi user, long range capabilities of NASCoM allows communication with peripheral montioring points such as pipelines, as well as allowing communication with multiple monitoring points from a single topside location. The system is field proven, and performs in both shallow water around structures and deep water. The acoustic communication path is highly secure and cannot be accessed or interfered with by other systems. Multi-user, multi-asset operation is easily achievable, while dual redundant equipment may also be deployed. The subsea control unit (SCU) includes significant intelligence, allowing it to provide analysis of data, or autonomous operation including fail to safety functionality. Subsea accumulator modules Remote releases or activation Chemical injection Replace failed wired connections Actuators/solenoids/valves Pressure sensors Flow sensors Temperature sensors Volume sensors Depth/orientation sensors Switch inputs reading

ACOUSTIC POSITIONING At Proserv, we provide a range of advanced subsea acoustic positioning systems, including vessel based and seabed systems. Our unique signalling technology overcomes many of the limitations of alternative systems, providing both multi-user, accurate and reliable positioning in all water depths with no acoustic interference or frequency management.

13 Accurate positioning, substantial savings. Proserv offers a range of positioning systems to suit different applications. Proserv s acoustic positioning systems provide clients with accurate positioning and substantial cost savings. NASNet uniquely offers broadcast only long baseline (LBL) positioning for field wide positioning activities. The system combines LBL and GPS concepts to give accurate, reliable, true multi user positioning at all water depths, requiring less seabed assets. Proserv s NASDrill product range is ideal for all LBL, short baseline (SBL) and ultra short baseline (USBL) activities, where multiple redundancy and reliablity is required in vessel dynamic positioning. NASDrill RS925 is a combined LBL and short baseline SBL system. The system is vessel based with an array of, typically, four or six subsea beacons. Distances can be measured between multiple vessel surface transducers and the subsea array being positioned to determine a position relative to the vessel. NASDrill USBL systems are similar to SBL but uses one multiple element surface transducer on the vessel. Suitable for riser angle monitoring and ROV positioning, NASDrill USBL is a cost effective, easy to install option that requires less hull penetrations and subsea beacons.

NASNet LBL Positioning The NASNet advanced subsea positioning system is designed both for long term, field wide deployment in deepwater environments as well as for corridors and smaller areas, making the system ideal for vessel positioning or tracking objects in a water column. The versatile features of the system means it is ideal for meeting deepwater, construction and general hydrographic survey operations. The system employs a broadcast technique to determine accurate range measurements between the calibrated NASNet array and passive receivers on tracked objects. NASNet overcomes the limitations of conventional LBL systems with the ability to simultaneously position unlimited objects at fast update rates with no acoustic interference. A range of seabed stations, ROV and vessel mounted solutions supports all operational requirements including dynamic position reference (DPR), ROV and structure positioning. Making use of buoy mounted transmitters, NASNet is highly accurate over extremely long ranges (up to five kilometres) meaning less seabed assets to install and no need for frequency management. Long range and high

15 integrity communications using ADS 2 signalling Supports integration with inertial navigation solutions and sparse LBL capability Simple system installation including optional single lift and deployment capability for the installation of NASNet stations Mini and compact versions available for full project flexibility Patented buoy tracking system NASDrill combined SBL/LBL positioning NASDrill RS925 deepwater acoustic positioning system was developed to meet the demands of the offshore industry for a reliable and robust acoustic DP sensor and ultra deepwater positioning system. To satisfy this requirement, Proserv applied its ADS 2 technology to the acoustic environment. ADS 2 acoustic signalling is the key to the impressive range, accuracy and update rate performance provided by the RS925. NASDrill RS925 differs from NASNet in offering a combined SBL/LBL methodology that creates multiple independent SBL and LBL solutions, which allows for independent position outputs to the DP system. By using the two most accurate acoustic techniques available, NASDrill RS925 offers a high level of system redundancy, and is able to operate under conditions of extreme acoustic noise, delivering ultra-reliable and stable performance. NASDrill RS925 already holds a number of deepwater drillling and coring records and is proven and operating worldwide. Offfering simple and fast calibration, the system is fully compliant with international DP sensor requirements including Petrobras specifications and integrates seamlessly with the NASeBOP emergency BOP control system. NASDrill USBL positioning For ultra short baseline requirements, NASDrill USBL accurately measures and displays the position of a surface vessel relative to seabed beacons and/or subsea locations, relative to the vessel. The system requires only one subsea beacon and one shipboard hydrophone to determine the position of the beacon relative to the vessel. NASDrill RS925 has a range of up to 4,000 metres, working withing a 60 degree operating cone. The system employs a USBL pinger or transponder based system, offering a position update rate of up to one second. The NASDrill USBL acoustic system is an ideal tracking system for BOP, riser and ROV position activities, and provides a reliable position and riser angle solution for drilling rigs. The directional hydrophone mounts through a ten inch (250 millimetres) gate valve and provides tracking and positioning within a full 180 degree hemisphere, without the need for mechanical tracking mechanisms or electronic beam forming. It also has also the option to display ERA data.

Acoustic Comms Case Study Wireless Sensor Monitoring Client: Deepwater EU Ltd Location: UK Continental Shelf Equipment: NASCoM

21 The environment is challenging for acoustics, with significant multipath effects and noise from mechanical sources and surface conditions. ADS 2 is designed to cope with such conditions, and acoustic communication reliability on this project has been in excess of 89 percent. Background Proserv was contracted by Deepwater EU Ltd to develop a solution making use of acoustic communication for the purpose of long range cathodic protection (CP) monitoring, an industry first for this type of remote CP monitoring. Deepwater provided an impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) system with acoustic remote CP monitoring as a pilot project for Shell, to be installed on the Leman Alpha production platform complex in the North Sea. Solution NASCoM, Proserv s acoustic control and monitoring system, was identified as the ideal solution. NASCoM subsea control units (SCUs) were deployed to wirelessly monitor Deepwater reference electrode sensors, allowing measurement of distribution of protection across the structure. Installation included the provision of Deepwater s specialist heavy duty RetroClamps, providing an integrated installation package of monitoring equipment, enabling the installation contractor to install subsea monitoring equipment quickly and effectively. NASCoM uses ADS 2 signalling to achieve robust and reliable wireless subsea communication. When required, a portable transducer is lowered into the water, connected to a NASCoM portable unit, allowing the user to interrogate each SCU for sensor readings. The environment is challenging for acoustics, with significant multipath effects and noise from mechanical sources and surface conditions. ADS 2 is designed to cope with such conditions, and acoustic communication reliability on this project has been in excess of 89 percent. The SCUs adopted enhanced power control of electronics to minimise power consumption between sensor readings, maximising battery life. Based on log data to date, battery life is predicted to exceed the five year deployment target, subject to continued use of power saving techniques. Plastic housings along with PEEK connectors were implemented to avoid corrosion issues over the expected deployment duration, avoiding the need for ROV service or intervention. Scope January 2016: Awarded contract May 2016: FAT competed at Howe Moss, Aberdeen July 2016: Offshore deployment Conclusion No need for ROV surveys Take CP sensor readings on demand Feed sensor readings into ICCP analysis software No permanently deployed cables through the splash zone No relay stations required for outlying monitoring locations In excess of five year battery life Significant cost savings over the five year deployment duration

Positioning Case Study Aasta Hansteen Development - Subsea Positioning Client: Subsea 7 Location: Norwegian Sea Equipment: NASNet positioning system Sea temp: -1.2 C Water Depth: 1,200 metres

23 The NASNet array at Aasta Hansteen provided acoustic positioning for over 200 vessel days spread across six different vessels over a two year period, supported by NASNet trained survey services personnel. Background In 2015 Subsea 7 selected NASNet to provide field wide acoustic positioning throughout Statoil s Aasta Hansteen field. An array consisting of 17 NASNet stations was installed along with various NASNet MTrx QC references. ROV and vessel deployed VTrx systems provided ROV positioning and enabled system management functions to be performed. Project Description The NASNet equipment was mobilised and installation of the subsea array was completed by March The NASNet array was successfully used by a range of construction vessels for various construction and survey tasks, including the installation of suction anchors and umbilicals. The end of July 2015 marked the end of the first phase of the project, after which three NASNet stations were recovered from the seabed array in areas no longer requiring coverage. The remaining stations were put into standby mode until they were required for the second phase of the project, in March As the campaign re-commenced, vessels were deployed to install turn-point anchors and continue their construction operations over a four month period. Once the project was completed the 14 remaining NASNet stations were recovered from the seabed and returned to Proserv s Howe Moss facility. All in field construction activities were completed using NASNet. ROV positioning, which made use of the NASNet VTrx system, with the dunking version being used as necessary from the vessels decks. To facilitate safe deployment of the dunker, Proserv supplied a NASNet deck deployment system (DDS). Structure installation and position quality verifications were performed using NASNet MTrx, providing position and telemetry data acoustically to the ROVs. Scope Proserv s NASNet equipment was shipped to Sandnessjøen, Norway where the client s vessel mobilised for the installation and calibration of the NASNet array. Despite challenging environmental conditions, NASNet stations were deployed and positioned, averaging at less than four and a half hours per unit including calibration. A series of campaigns with multiple vessels and operators used NASNet during the project. Tasks undertaken include the installation of foundation and mooring piles, templates, jumpers and general ROV positioning in support of construction and in-field umbilical installation. Conclusion The NASNet array at Aasta Hansteen provided acoustic positioning for over 200 vessel days spread across six different vessels over a two year period. Throughout the project Proserv has supported offshore operations with the NASNet project team and NASNet trained Survey Services personnel.
