2 Innovations and New Designs 2011 Premium Design Line The challenge for HAFI is to achieve a maximum of technically-possible results, in combination with the test criteria and requirements of the standards and accredited testing institutes of the DiBt (German Institute for Structural Engineering). The quality requirements of the newly defined test criteria PIV Cert plus (among other things, movement cycles subject to compliance with the Standard DIN EN 1906, status September 2010, compliance with the Corrosion Class 5 according to EN 1670) of the PIV (Testing Institute for Locks and Hardware in Velbert), have already been applied by HAFI in the certification of its products according to these criteria. In part, HAFI also goes significantly farther than required by these standards. As an example of this, we refer to the free-play tolerance stipulated according to standard (specification according to standard 6 mm HAFI achieves a value under 1 mm here), or the free angle movement (specification according to standard 5 mm HAFI achieves a value of less than 1 mm here). The product line Premium Design Line fulfills all Object-specific, standard specifications, and combines investment casting levers, which have the above-described technical properties, with the surface variants stainless-steel titanium-gray and AluSilver. HAFI gives a functional guarantee of 10 years on this Class 4 mounting technique. Public Line The already successful Public Line product line has undergone an optical and technical facelift. The cover plates now indicate a slightly sharper edge radius. The result reflects the designoriented spirit of the times, as can also be observed for example in automobile design. The product line Public Line fulfills all Object-specific standard specifications, and combines the technical properties described under the Premium Design Line product line with the surface variants satin stainless steel and polished stainless steel, as well as polished PVD brass and satin PVD bronze. HAFI gives a functional guarantee of 10 years on this Class 4 mounting technique as well. Business Line HAFI also sets standards with this new mounting technique in Class 3. As a result of the further development of our manufacturing processes and the associated reduction of tolerances and joint dimensions, the two-part cover plate is scarcely noticeable after assembly on the door. This effect is supported by a brushing pattern which is implemented, not as usual from below to above, rather using a so-called circular brushing a finishing redesigned by HAFI for the Objectsector. This optical upgrading is accompanied by sharper cover plate edges, which lends the HAFI Class 3 Object-line a look which provides for optimal repeat-identification in the assembled product on the door. HAFI offers complete test certificates for its products in this case as well. This guarantees the customer continuous internal and external monitoring supervision by PIV throughout production. This creates transparency and guarantees quality and sustainability for the customer. The customer can reexamine the standard conformity of the products online at any time, by means of the registration number, which is given by PIV Velbert for the respective certificate of the product. HAFI identifies its products and its packaging in accordance with DIN standard. The registration number is provided on the product and on the packaging.

A high-quality, stainless-steel alloy is the starting point. With the surface color-shading AluSilver, HAFI reflects the contemporary Zeitgeist. The hardness of the base material significantly reduces scraping and traces of use, as are well known in soft aluminum. AluSilver is characterized by surface tactile properties which are very pleasant and velvety. The extremely high surface quality of this innovation is documented throughout, where HAFI fulfills fully-comprehensively the quality requirements of the newly-defined test criteria PIV Cert plus of the PIV (Testing Institute for Locks and Hardware in Velbert). With this innovation, we also remain true to our philosophy of documenting the quality of our products by means of external expert appraisal and certificates. Door handle with Braille information With the Models 202 and 224 in stainless-steel investment-casting, HAFI converts the individual identification with Braille lettering in a way which is appealing and consistent with standards (e.g. consistent with fire-protection and DIN EN 179 standards). The text is translated by HAFI into Braille lettering according to customer specification, and then incorporated into the surface of the door handle through a special, mechanical manufacturing process. This process is patented by HAFI. This innovation is also certified according to the certification process PIV Cert plus. The result is an optimal solution for all users of a building. Within a building, HAFI optimally combines compliance with, and application of, all requirements as well as all standards pertaining to building law, with the aesthetic and functional desires of the architects and planners. Emergency-exit and panic hardware In the year 2010 HAFI invested in a completely new test and development center in Elchingen, for certified building products, in accordance with DIN EN179 and DIN EN In the area of products certified to DIN EN 179, HAFI has today one of the most extensive product ranges in the hardware sector. With its entry into the development and manufacture of products according to DIN EN 1125, HAFI strategically rounds off its hardware product range. To an ever increasing degree, HAFI serves customers domestically and internationally with these high-quality Object-fittings. Lifting-sliding door grips HAFI is always eager to fulfill its customer s desires with regard to products, and in respect to realization and application of their design requirements. The desire has been expressed again and again for HAFI to develop a functional and appealing lifting-sliding door lever. We now respond to these requests with our new lifting-sliding door lever series in the Models 202XL and 224XL, in 6 different surface variations (AluSilver, stainless steel titanium-gray, satin stainless steel, polished stainless steel, polished PVD brass, as well as satin PVD bronze).

4 Innovations and New Designs 2011 Surface hygiene In past years, HAFI has busied itself very intensively with the occurrence of infections through MRS (Multi-Resistant Staphylococci), such as e.g. Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), vancomycin-resistant enterococcus, Clostridium difficile etc., which are responsible for the so-called nosocomial infections in public buildings (hospitals, nursing homes etc.). HAFI has developed an anti-bacterial, oligo-dynamic functional surface, in which the materials copper and bronze have a germicidal effect. We would like to point out in this connection, that the anti-bacterial effect of this functional surface replaces neither in-part nor whole, any existing disinfection plans with prescribed cleaning and disinfection agents (cf. Robert- Koch-Institute).
