Advanced fuselage and wing structure based on innovative Al-Li alloy Numerical trade off study and experimental stiffened panel validation 2. Strain Monitoring in Composite Stiffened Panels Using Sensors 3. Investigation of Bird Strike criteria for Natural Laminar Flow wings In 2 proposals LTSM served(s) as a coordinator 1. Advanced fuselage and wing structure based on innovative Al-Li alloy Numerical trade off study and experimental stiffened panel validation, 2. Strain Monitoring in Composite Stiffened Panels Using Sensors, 3. Investigation of Bird Strike criteria for Natural Laminar Flow wings 2 out of 3 proposals have won the Topic

6 Experience of LTSM in the programme Positive experience: LTSM highly appreciates the continuation of the programme. LTSM appreciates the open calls procedure and the fact that many topics lie at low TRL level, thus allowing for innovative research. LTSM appreciates the fact that success rates are still acceptable.

7 Remarks - Suggestions Broader Topics allowing for synergies would be more beneficial for both the contractors and research teams. Topic Descriptions must be more precise. Topics should not be over-split in small contracts. Sometimes the Required Special Skills are not necessary to perform the work. On the other side, it limits de facto the competition. Better justification of budget of the Topics in order to avoid underestimation of budget and make carrying out of the work manageable.

8 Remarks - Suggestions Development of a tool that will assist the formation of consortia at each Topic. Organize Workshops to present and discuss results from JTI projects in a regular basis: Dissemination and Exploitation will be enhanced and future synergies will be promoted.

9 Suggestion In countries with limited industrial activities in aeronautics but with high research performance, such as Greece, the key players are Universities and small SMEs. It would be beneficial to allow participation of Clusters between Universities and small SMEs from these countries in JTI Calls.
