3 «Classes de mer» The sea classes are the stay, the accommodation and the educative activities of a full class during one or two weeks in the center, supervised by the teachers and the maritime educators of the center. The pupils (primary or secondary school) discover maritime environment, economy, culture and watersports. Benefits for the pupils o an educational approach that brings the fundamental school activities nearer to nature and reality, o a school of citizenship and living together o a major tool for the discovery of the marine environment by children.

If maritime culture is too weak among the Atlantic people (or too segmented, or too closed, or to elitist, or not concrete...): Lack of interest of the people in maritime issues, mistrust, ignorance Obstacles to development, barriers to projects Non-prioritization of maritime issues by society, businesses, researchers, politicians,... Barriers to the development of human resources, skills,... We must act for Dissemination, democratization of maritime culture, Diversity, openness to the future, modernity of the marine culture Maritime awareness and education of all young people
