3 Introduction The importance of CAD tools in engineering is undeniable =>Utilization of CAD tool in microelectronics education is increasing Multitude of CAD tools and little support causes problems Students should not believe the simulation results without a doubt => Hand calculation skills are needed!! 10 Computer Aided Circuit Design Course in University of Oulu After the course the student can explain the operation and requirements of the common simulation algorithms choose the most appropriate simulation algorithm to any design task recognize, solve, and circumvent the commonly emerging problems in circuit simulations choose the correct excitations and build the necessary test benches for circuit simulations

15 Conclusion CAD tools are commonly used in microelectronics education but the support or CAD education is not very well organized => Students SHOULD know what method to use, how it operates and what are the restrictions The CAD education varies widely in the finnish universities => CAD tool development and education almost disappeared from Aalto University Research and industry needs reflects in the education => In Oulu we have CAD orientated research, which keeps the topic important
