3 CAS Publications - I 12 issues/year Scope: publish regular papers (14 pages maximum length in double column format; page charges of 110$/page after page 9) in all domain of the CAS society Specific topic: general theory of circuits and systems; neural networks, CNNs; nonlinear circuits and systems, chaos and bifurcations; power electronics and systems; numerical, graphical and symbolic computational methods; adaptive, blind and statistical signal processing and learning paradigms; multimedia signal processing; multidimensional signals and systems; wavelets and filter banks; (wireless) communication and sensors networks; analog, digital, mixed-mode and RF circuits; MEMS, optoelectronics, quantum and nanoelectronics; biologically motivated circuits devices and associated computing paradigms [ ] Publishes several special issues in emerging topics (System Biology) 3

Journal of rapid publication (6 months from submission to publication for a good paper) of new ideas Specific topic: same as TCAS-I From 2008 Starts publishing special issues as well on advancement of established fields, but: similar to a special session to the most prestigious conferences short time from submission to publication (6-7 months) 4

5 CAS Publications - III 12 issues/year Scope: publish short and full papers (5/14 pages maximum length in double column format; page charges of 110$/page after page 9) related to video and image processing; Specific topics: Video A/D and D/A, display technology, image analysis and processing, video signal characterization and representation, video compression techniques and signal processing, multidimensional filters and transforms, analog video signal processing, neural networks for video applications, nonlinear video signal processing, video storage and retrieval, computer vision, packet video, high-speed realtime circuits, VLSI architecture and implementation for video technology, multiprocessor systems--hardware and software-- video systems architecture, video quality assessment, and other video-technology-related topics Publishes also special issue 5

Specific topic: bioelectronics; implantable and wearable electronics; biotechnology sensor circuits; smart sensors; micropower imaging technology; biomems; lab-on-chip bio-nanotechnology; organic semiconductors; biomedical engineering technology; genomics and proteomics; neuromorphic engineering; low power micro- and nanoelectronics; mixed-mode system-on-chip; wireless technology in medicine; gene circuits and molecular circuits; system biology; electronics for brain science; healthcare information technology. Will publishes also follow-up of selected conferences such as BioCAS ( 6

7 CAS Publications - V 12 issues/year Scope: publish short and full papers (5/14 pages maximum length in double column format; page charges of 110$/page after page 9) realted to CAD and Electronic Design Specific topic: Methods, algorithms, and human-machine interfaces for physical and logical design, including: planning, synthesis, partitioning, modeling, simulation, layout, verification, testing, and documentation of integrated-circuit and systems designs of all complexities. Practical applications of aids resulting in producible analog, digital, optical, or microwave integrated circuits are emphasized. Special issues are published on selected conference (DATE, ICCAD, ) as well as on selected topics 7

8 CAS Publications - VI 4 issues/year Scope: publish articles (average of about 10 published pages) presenting novel results, special insights, or survey and tutorial treatments on all topics having to do with the theory, analysis and (computer aided) design, and practical implementation of circuits, and the application of circuit theoretic techniques to systems and to signal processing. Specific style: 1) articles should be readable to the entire CAS membership; 2) an effective use of graphs, diagrams and pictures is highly recommended. Starts publishing special issues as well (first on Wireless Reconfigurable Terminals) focused on hot topics (similar to the SP Magazine) 8

10 Manuscript must be written in English What to submit Recommendation: seek the assistance of a English mother-tongue colleagues or use a Presubmission Editorial Services such as the one offered (for a modest fee) at IEEE (see This is very important: if your paper does not meet a minimum English quality it will be returned without review Manuscript should clearly describe your idea and compare it with previously know solutions Answer to the questions: What I am doing? Is there any advantage w.r.t. what is already present? Why this is the case? This is very important: is your manuscript does not contains these key features, it will be most likely rejected Pay attention to other people work and cite it. In other terms pay attention to your reference list. Make a good use of databases (IEEEXplore for instance, also in the forthcoming section) 10

13 A few tips Scope: Try to submit your paper to the most appropriate transaction in terms of scope. Use EDICS (list of keywords) to establish that if you cannot find a good keyword, maybe this is not the right journal. If you have a doubt write to the EIC. Read the instructions for Authors in the part describing the scope of the journal. What if my paper is rejected? Take advantage of the reviewer comments and implement them. You may consider submitting an improved version of the paper somewhere else, but do not do so verbatim! Do not submit your paper (or 2 similar version of your paper) to 2 different journals. This is not a proper scholar behavior and will be hardly sanctioned if discovered. 13
