4 settlement and land use, economic activity including trade links, and the distribution of natural resources including energy, food, minerals and water Art and Design Locational knowledge locate the world s countries, using maps to focus on Europe (including the location of Russia) concentrating on their environmental reigons, key physical and human characteristics, countries, and major cities. Use maps to identify the position and significance of latitude, longitude, Equator, Northern Hemisphere, Southern Hemisphere, the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, Arctic and Antarctic Circle, the Prime/Greenwich Meridian and time zones (including day and night) All art work to be underpinned by sketchbook work and DRAWING. Children to experience: Paint/Print/3D/digital media/ textiles throughout the year. These experiences to develop an understanding of the artistic elements: Line/colour/tone (sometimes referred to as value ) /pattern/texture/shape/form/space. Work should be individual and collaborative and encourage children to work on a variety of scales. Continuity and progression in art should be assured when the revised progression of skills is referenced at the planning stage of a unit of work. Autumn Term - Memory Boxes linked to Strange Day in July Summer Term Design and make set for Wind in the Willows Drawing and Painting Pencil sketching and water colour techniques linked to Joseph Cornell Memory Boxes. I can make different marks, lines, patterns Printing I can create printing blocks by simplifying a sketch book idea I can use relief or impressed methods for making prints I can create prints with two or more overlays 3D and Sculpture I can shape, model and construct from observation or imagination I can use recycled, natural and man-made materials to create sculptures

5 and shapes within drawing using a range of media I can use different techniques for different purposes e.g shading, hatching within own work I can develop my own style using tonal contrast and mixed media Painting I can show an awareness of how paintings are created, primarily through the study of the work of other artists eg.
