Portfolio Ting Pradthana Jarusriboonchai This portfolio comprises a series of design, research, and development that Ting has been involved. The work is categorised into 4 themes: mobile technology in co-located interaction, children and interactive technologies, wearable technology, and industrial products. p.jarusriboonchai@gmail.com

Social Display Mobile Technology in Co-located Interaction A screen on the backside of a mobile phone automatically displays visual cues about the current activity on the phone. The concept addresses the privacy of mobile interfaces that has hampered social observability and chances for serendipitous interactions. The concept of Social Display was introduced in focus group sessions with multiple use case scenarios as stimuli to discuss about practicality, opportunities, and challenges of the concept. Co-design the content of the Social Display, how the activity on the phone should be presented to others. Screen captures of different mobile applications were provided as stimuli. Social Display prototype was used by a number of users on daily basis for 10 days. Pre- and post-interview as well as daily questionnaire were used to evaluate the user experience. Doctoral research Concept design: Ting Pradthana Jarusriboonchai & Thomas Olsson Delivery: Ting Pradthana Jarusriboonchai & Aris Malapascha

Who s Next Mobile Technology in Co-located Interaction A multi-player turn-based quiz game, using personal information of players as the main content of the game. The game is designed as an alternative ice-breaking activity, addressing issues such as one individual dominating the activity or participants feeling uncomfortable interacting with strangers. The game offers various levels of personal exposure to strangers. A working prototype of the game was built and evaluated in trial sessions. The sessions were simulated to be similar to a typical first encounter, which an icebreaking activity then takes place. The trial sessions were video recorded. The videos were analysed for interactions that took places between participants. A group interview with users were conducted to get feedback and objective experience about the game. Doctoral research Concept design: Ting Pradthana Jarusriboonchai, Aris Malapascha & Thomas Olsson Delivery:Ting Pradthana Jarusriboonchai & Aris Malapascha

Mobile Technology in Co-located Interaction Collaborative Camera A photo taking method that requires collaboration of two people. Collaborative camera concept uses two devices as a simple camera. One functions as the trigger, another functions as the pointer. The concept was evaluated with users in a field trial using an existing mobile application on Google Play. The application is intentionally designed for taking selfies. The trial sessions were video recorded. The videos were analysed for interactions that took places between participants. A group interview with users were conducted to get feedback and objective experience about the concept. Doctoral research Concept design: Ting Pradthana Jarusriboonchai Delivery: Ting Pradthana Jarusriboonchai

Children and Interactive Technologies Playing with Technology Ethnography studies in 4 schools (one week in each school) to understand young children s free-play. The outcomes from the studies will inform future design of technology that support and enhance free-play. Flexible social space, easily imitate, and rapidly extendable are relevant implications for design emerged from the findings. Ethnographer: Ting Pradthana Jarusriboonchai A series of four workshops that combined typical crafts and play with digital technology. The goal is to understand how existing toolkits and technology could fit to typical children s play and identify aspects relevant for future design. Concept design/delivery: Ting Pradthana Jarusriboonchai & Teresa Almeida

Wearable Technology Organic Wearable Display Music affects our emotions. It is a way for people to express themselves. We design Organic Soft Headphone with an intention to provoke conversation around aesthetic, technology, and self-expression. In the design, music is considered as an indirect way for a user to express him/herself. Organic Soft Headphone is a headphone in a form of a hooded scarf with dynamic decoration pieces. Organic Soft Headphone is intentionally designed for a woman who wants to keep organic feeling in her look even when technology is integrated into her life. Hooded scarf is feasible to be used both inside and outside. The hood allows users to create private space in public, giving a similar impression as when a person put on a headphone. The decoration pieces comprise of leaf patterns and colour beads. These decoration pieces change their appearance responding to music listening on the headphone as a form of self-expression. The display consists of colourchanging fabric leaves and moving beads as visual feedback These mediums provide visual responses at different paces. The leaves react to changes in music at slow pace, gradually showing a green colour. The beads could react almost spontaneously and move every time strong beats are played. Concept design/delivery: Ting Pradthana Jarusriboonchai & Emma Napari

Industrial Products Software with Tangible Interface on Multi-Touch Surface Designed interactions and developed a software with a tangible interface on Microsoft Pixel Sense for an interactive mobile phone catalogue for the biggest mobile operators in Thailand. The system was installed in flagship stores across the country. Designed interactions and developed a software with a tangible interface on Microsoft Pixel Sense used in an event to promote Bangkok Airways airline. The product was installed in a theatre lounge. Lead software developer: Ting Pradthana Jarusriboonchai Exzy Company Limited, Bangkok, Thailand
