KEYNOTE SPEAKERS Xavier Badosa Xavier Badosa is the Web Manager of the Statistical Institute of Catalonia (Idescat).

He is also the developer of JSON-stat.org, an initiative that attempts to explore the benefits of using JSON as a format for the exchange of statistical data and metadata.

Jussi Karlgren Jussi Karlgren, adjunct professor of language technology at KTH, holds a PhD in computational linguistics and a Ph. Lic. in computer and systems sciences.

Jussi is one of the founding partners of Gavagai, a Swedish company that develops technology for text analysis of large data sets.

4 KEYNOTE SPEAKERS Xavier Badosa Xavier Badosa is the Web Manager of the Statistical Institute of Catalonia (Idescat). He has studied economics and philosophy and holds a degree in economics and business studies from the University of Barcelona. Xavier has been teaching online publishing in masters courses. He is also the developer of JSON-stat.org, an initiative that attempts to explore the benefits of using JSON as a format for the exchange of statistical data and metadata. The title for Xavier s course at NSM on Monday is How can we and our users consume Nordic Statbank data with JSON-stat? Jussi Karlgren Jussi Karlgren, adjunct professor of language technology at KTH, holds a PhD in computational linguistics and a Ph. Lic. in computer and systems sciences. Jussi has worked with research and development in information access-related language technology since Jussi is one of the founding partners of Gavagai, a Swedish company that develops technology for text analysis of large data sets. His research interests are modelling genre and stylistics, studying the negotiation of meaning in human communication, and on evaluating and validating information systems. The title for his key note on Tuesday is A universe of data (re) sources. Anna Rosling Rönnlund Anna Rosling Rönnlund is co-founder of the Gapminder Foundation. The aim of her work is to promote a fact-based world view through increased use and understanding of freely accessible public statistics. After a few of years at Google Anna moved back to Gapminder in Sweden. Her educational background (sociology and photography) is of great use in her daily work. Since 2014 Anna spends most of her workdays on her Dollar Street project where photography and data are combined to make everyday life of people all around the world easy to understand. The title for her key note on Wednesday is Speaking in pictures. Mikael Ahlström Mikael Ahlström is an entrepreneur in the communications business. He works closely with internet projects and focuses on business development issues and entrepreneurial opportunities in the industry. As co-owner of Hyper Island, a creative business school with a consultancy side specialising in real-world industry training using digital technology, Mikael is giving master classes in digital transformation for the advertising industry and large brands. He is a board member in organizsations in the fields of entrepreneurship, sustainability and education. The title for his key note on Wednesday is New data sources.

Fredrik Laurin Fredrik Laurin is a Swedish journalist working as editor for investigative journalism at the Swedish public service radio.

He has also spent five years at TV4, Sweden s leading commercial television company.

Fredrik was also awarded Guldspaden, also a prestigious award for investigative journalism, in 2000 and 2004.

5 Fredrik Laurin Fredrik Laurin is a Swedish journalist working as editor for investigative journalism at the Swedish public service radio. Fredrik was previously Special Projects Editor at Uppdrag granskning, Swedish Television s current affairs programme and correspondent for eight years at the same company. He has also spent five years at TV4, Sweden s leading commercial television company. Fredrik and his two colleagues Joachim Dyfvermark and Sven Bergman are the only Swedish journalists awarded with the prestigious Stora Journalistpriset three times, in 2005, 2007 and Fredrik was also awarded Guldspaden, also a prestigious award for investigative journalism, in 2000 and His latest scoop is the revelation of how the Swedish-Finnish telecom company TeliaSonera does business in Uzbekistan. Can Tongur Can Tongur is a senior methodologist at Statistics Sweden where he has been employed since He disserted in economic statistics in 2013 at Stockholm University where he also has been affiliated. His main fields of work are within Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Foreign Trade Statistics, two fields which he has been engaged in international development work. He was part of the working team that implemented scanner data in the Swedish CPI. The title for Can s open seminar at NSM on Monday is Statistics in the digital era reusing transaction data. The title for his key note on Tuesday is Data used/abused as source. Bi Puranen Bi Puranen is a docent in economic history at the Stockholm University, senior research fellow at the Swedish Institute for Futures Studies (IFFS) and from 1996 Secretary General for World Values Survey (WVS), a global network of social scientists studying changing values and their impact on social and political life. The WVS sums up surveys from nearly respondents in roughly 100 countries who together represent almost 90 percent of the world s population.
