5 Overview In collaboration between IEEE TAB/AHCAA and ComSoc a DL trip was identified and financed to address the needs of IEEE sections of Uganda and Kenya ushered to start on January 21 and end on Jan 28. Such an International trip compared to others (say in US), required more preparation and coordination including: Obtaining letter of invitation, applying for visa, vaccination as well as coordination of the sequence and logistics with local hosts. In parallel, this was followed by event preparing, venue section, promotion for the event, RSVP, collaboration with a potential sponsor, event execution, F&B and networking. Both events were highly interactive and of great success. He was a senior product manager for networking product release for enterprise, broadband edge and core nodes. Fawzi also served as the Director of Strategic Marketing for SoC networking & Communications product line. Fawzi is passionate about technology automation and has founded TelNet Management Consulting Inc. in 2009 offering consulting services in the areas of technology trends and positioning for smart networking and IoT/GIS solutions. 21 Recap The DL Tour wouldn t have been possible without the great support and coordination by many from IEEE Corporate IEEE ComSoc and Local sections from both Uganda and Kenya. The subject selected by the local sections and delivery was intended to share personal experience and examples how the advancement of collaborative technologies have impacted several markets and in-turn form basis generating disruptive approach via IoT and ecosystem solutions impacting businesses, environment and our lives for many years to come. The objective was to bring all attendees to a common level of understanding and be inspired to think creatively and collaboratively. It was proposed that a follow-up trip may be suggested to take this to the next level identifying innovative ideas that brings about collaboration and solution incubated and fostered by local institutions. After a few discussions, it was clear that both Uganda and Kenya may need to have a ComSoc chapter as means to enlarge ways of serving communities and build membership. Some of the upcoming events that can be supported would include Support to PACT 2017 in Nairobi in March with a detailed workshop filtering ideas into concrete initiative for incubation. IEEE participation in next year annual Expo event in Nairobi with robotic competition and other innovative projects. Fawzi Behmann, f.behmann@ieee.org
