Task: Write a short article to appear in your college/school newspaper. In the article, persuade the readers that it would be better for everyone s health if all students went back to taking proper school meals. Task: Individual Presentation on: a hobby, interest, career, ambition, etc. of your choice; AND/OR; a controversial/complex issue, which you feel strongly about. Task: Analyse and explain how the TWO different writers, in the TWO different extracts, use language and devices to achieve effects and engage/influence the reader. Mock Exam Rivers and Coasts Changing Weather and Climate The Restless Earth The search for a political solution in NI Mock Exam Pupils will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of ALL TOPICS covered in Unit 1 by completing a mock exam under test conditions. Unit 1:External Exam worth 37.5% Summer Exam which will reflect on the four topics studied throughout the year. Pupils will sit an external written examination in May. This will cover Unit 1 studied in Year 11. The examination is worth 30% of the overall GCSE qualification.

2 YEAR 11 S BTEC ICT Business & Communication Sytems Investigating online services, online communication and online advertising. Business Ownership why and how a business starts the types of business ownership and the advantages and disadvantages of each type of ownership. 2 Learning Aim A: Unit 10 Databases. Identify the uses of databases and explain how the tools and techniques are used in two different databases to improve productivity, accuracy and usability. Students are also required to discuss strengths and weaknesses of a database. Practical Word Processing Assessment on computer Word Processing check pupils ability to use MW to edit and create different documents such as letters, tables, flyers etc. 3 February External Exam (Unit 1) Online exam on The Online World. Practical Spreadsheet assessment on computer Spreadsheet Task check pupils ability to use ME to carry out formulas, insert/merge cells, insert functions & create charts etc. 4 Learning Aim B: Produce a detailed design for a relational database which includes: Alternative designs Mock Exam A detailed database structure know all the practical work covered throughout the year, and know how to use the following software packages: Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Microsoft Access Microsoft PowerPoint SUMMER ASSESSMENT Learning Aim C: Develop a Database for a Travel Agency demonstrating awareness of users requirements and accuracy. The database should include: Data entry forms Queries and Reports Onscreen Navigation Pupils will sit their BCS Practical GCSE examination in May. This will cover Unit 1 studied in Year 11. This examination is worth 40% of the overall GCSE qualification. GCSE Child Development Pupils need to be able to apply to a given scenario.
