1 INTRODUCTION Smart car technology is changing fast and PSAS needs to move along to compensate for the ongoing changes by becoming a more flexible and sensitive institution with the latest technology changes to ensure that its existence continues to be relevant. PSAS Hackathon 2018 is implemented in response to the challenges of the country's transformation into the IR 4.0 era. OBJECTIVES 1. Produce new ideas and applications in the development of smart car system (safety). 2. Provide opportunities for participants to exchange and share experiences and knowledge in the development of smart car system (safety). 3. Create healthy racing spirit among participants in generating new ideas and applications throughout this hackathon program. THEME SMART CAR SYSTEM (SAFETY) Details of the theme are as follow: Upgrading the existing passenger vehicle safety system. Mainly focusing on 3 aspects of ACTIVE SAFETY SYSTEM which defined as a system that is always active to help avoid and minimize the effects of a crash, namely : The ACTIVE SAFETY SYSTEM that interpret signals from various sensors to help the driver control the vehicle. The ACTIVE SAFETY SYSTEM may be activated by a human operator or automatically by a computer driven system. Example of ACTIVE SAFETY SYSTEM such as brake system, chassis assist, head up displays, handling systems, traction control, collision warning, speed adaption etc. 1 P age RULES & REGULATIONS

2 RULES & REGULATIONS OF PSAS HACKATHON 2018 A) GENERAL RULES 1. PSAS HACKATHON 2018 is a team based competition consists maximum of 3 people and is divided into 2 main categories which are for STUDENT and PUBLIC. 2. ALL teams must work together in 36 hours to produce source code (SOFTWARE) and real system (HARDWARE) based on the theme selected by the organizer. 3. The theme for PSAS HACKATHON 2018 is SMART CAR SYSTEM (SAFETY) where participants need to work together in their teams to developed active safety system for passenger car. 4. ALL Team should prepare the software and hardware for the project. The project should be full operated in a passenger car according to the organizer theme but at the same time within their own team budget. 5. For the STUDENT CATEGORY, team must be made up from secondary school students or IPTA/IPTS students which are currently enrolled in undergraduate studies who are not organizers, volunteers, judges, sponsors or in any other privileged position of the event. 6. While for the PUBLIC CATEGORY, PSAS HACKATHON 2018 is open for public who are not organizers, volunteers, judges, sponsors or in any other privileged position of the event. 7. Each team must come up with printed PROJECT PROPOSAL containing team information s (group name, group leader and members name, address and institution), the project description, the summary of the solution and the technology used. (PLEASE REFER ONLINE REGISTRATION FORM). The documentation is only for the judges references. 8. Teams need to bring their OWN EQUIPMENT such as laptop with power cable and other accessories, tools and material that needed to develop the project. Organizer will only prepare the basic hardware tools such as SMAW welding machine, MIG welding machine, hand grinder (without tool bit), power drill (without tool bit) and power outlet for machines/tools. 9. All codes and designs for the project must be created during PSAS HACKATHON Team are NOT ALLOWED to start coding before being told to do so. 11. Third party tools are allowed to be used in the project. 12. Please cite any material used (audio, image, video etc.) by providing the link of the source of the material to avoid any infringement issue. 13. There is NO LIMITATION on the programming language to be used. 14. All projects must be SUBMITTED & HAND OVER TO THE ORGANIZER at the end of the hackathon event and will be kept by the organizer. 2 P age RULES & REGULATIONS

3 15. Each team will be given 3m X 3m WORK STATION to develop the project throughout 36 hours of the competition. All team must STOP any work on the project when the 36 hours given time is over. 16. Teams are NOT ALLOWED to leave the competition area without the permission of the organizer. Teams that leave from the competition area will be DISQUALIFIED from PSAS HACKATHON FOOD (breakfast, lunch & dinner) will be PROVIDED throughout the hackathon. 18. REST AREAS will be provided by the organizers, however, teams need to bring their own sleeping bag, pillow, blanket, jacket etc. and some toiletries if needed. 4 B) JUDGING & PRIZES 1. PSAS HACKATHON 2018 judges are comprised of various people of automotive industries in Malaysia. 2. All judging will take place on SUNDAY 12 AUGUST 2018 and the winners will be announced after the judging processes within the same day. 3. The judging will be solely done for THE END PRODUCT AND THE PROCESS OF SOLVING THE PROBLEM ONLY. The quality of the codes will not be evaluated. 4. All projects from 36 teams will be judged based on the following SIX criteria: a) PROBLEM SOLVING (10 marks) (Objective, scope and problem statement) b) CREATIVITY (15 marks) (Novelty, improvement, modification of idea) c) INNOVATION ADAPTABILITY (15 marks) (Can be used directly/ need modification) d) OUTCOME (30 marks) (Effectiveness, efficiency, cost efficiency, easy to used and benefit to society) e) PRACTICAL SKILL (15 marks) (Final product appearance) f) PRODUCT TESTING (15 marks) (Product running) 4 P age RULES & REGULATIONS

5 5. There will be 3 PRIZES to be given out to the TOP 3 TEAMS for each category. a) PUBLIC CATEGORY i. First Prize : RM2500 ii. Second Prize : RM1500 iii. Third Prize : RM1000 b) STUDENT CATEGORY i. First Prize : RM1500 ii. Second Prize : RM1000 iii. Third Prize : RM The DECISION made by the panel of the judges is FINAL thus no appeal against the decision is allowed after the announcement of the winners is made. 7. Teams can be DISQUALIFIED from the competition at the organizer decision. Submission that consists of improper languages, images or content that is found offensive will not be accepted by the organizer. 5 P age RULES & REGULATIONS
