2 Our riveting new fabric Rivet is a captivating new fabric which not only connects seamlessly with the modern collaborative workplace, but also forms a bridge between textile traditions and future innovation. Designed to blend the aesthetic qualities of luxury woollen apparel with modern performance sportswear, Rivet is a fabric creation borne out of the development of an entirely new yarnstring made from 100% REPREVE fibre, created from recycled PET bottles. The new yarn has been developed exclusively for Camira, and the fabric is woven at Camira s UK manufacturing plant into a lightly textured, hopsack construction which emulates the swathe and sheen of sophisticated suiting in a well-heeled synthetic. 01
3 From plastic to fabric Every year millions of plastic bottles end up in landfill, impacting our environment. PET bottles are taken and given a new life in the form of REPREVE yarn. REPREVE is a registered trademark of Unifi, Inc. 03 Unifi, a leading global producer and processor of polyester and nylon textured yarns, developed a proprietary process to transform recycled plastic bottles into REPREVE fibre, an eco-friendly fabric ingredient. REPREVE is made by transforming polyethylene terephthalate (PET) from recycled plastic bottle flake, which has the same chemistry as polyester. (PET bottles have a #1 symbol.) Over 4 billion recycled plastic bottles have been transformed into REPREVE through a process that involves melting bottle flake into resin, then extruding it into fibre that is spun and textured to create a variety of yarns used in thousands of different fabrics and products available globally. One of which is Rivet. Did you know: Just 22 plastic bottles (500ml in size) make one metre of fabric. 51,040 plastic bottles (500ml in size) make one tonne of Rivet yarn which when woven equates to 2,320 metres of fabric. 4 Combining colours With 33 colours to choose from, the Rivet palette unveils duotone colouration, inviting you to delve deeper to see the colour detail. 05 The yarn is made from a combination of colours, a black base combined with one or more colours to give a final shade, which creates the mélange effect seen throughout each colourway. The contemplative palette is made from 13 yarns and through different combinations, mixing and coordinating, new colours have been created. The hopsack weave allows for a textured pattern without compromising the overall colour direction. With muted, tonal shades and bold, darker colours, the palette has been developed to coordinate with other ranges from Camira, so there are no holds barred when it comes to pushing new boundaries for creating dynamic interior schemes.
