1 Roleplay 1 BOSS is heading to the door, ready to leave. EMPLOYEE walks past him, carrying a drink, looking very exciteable. EMPLOYEE: Hey, where are you going? BOSS: Uh, home..? EMPLOYEE: Aren t you coming to the social club party? BOSS: No, no, a bit old for that I m afraid. EMPLOYEE: Ah well, your loss. But just quietly, it. Is. Going. To. Be. HUGE. BOSS: Ha, well, enjoy! BOSS moves to leave, then stops, and turns. BOSS: How huge, exactly? EMPLOYEE: Hey, I m probably the wrong person to ask - I can t even remember most of the last one! But you know, with everyone being so stressed over the last few months, I get the feeling that bar tab is going to be hit HARD. BOSS: Right But, it finishes up at midnight, doesn t it? EMPLOYEE: Oh sure, officially. But you know, we ll just stick around until they kick us out - or until you guys stop paying the tab! BOSS: Wow, I feel really old now. Don t you get tired? EMPLOYEE: Ha, that s what these babies are for! <Shows a plastic bag full of pills> BOSS: Okay, I really, really don t want to know. Just let s pretend we never had this conversation, okay? EMPLOYEE: Like I said, I won t remember anything by tomorrow morning anyway!

2 Roleplay 2 BOSS and EMPLOYEE are at a bar. BOSS is drinking but Employee is sipping a Diet Coke. BOSS: So I d been working here one week. And the partners just don t stop buying me drinks, you know? Vodkas, beers, shots - I couldn t get them down fast enough before the next one arrived. And of course, trying to make a good impression, I just kept drinking whatever they put in front of me. So we get to midnight - I ve been dancing on the table with my secretary in between vomiting on my receptionist s shoes - and we get chucked out. And you know what my boss made me do? EMPLOYEE: Uh, no? BOSS: Drive him home! He lived in Rockingham for God s sake! And you know what? I woke up the next morning on the side of the freeway with a note from my boss taped to my forehead. You know what it said? You ll fit right in. EMPLOYEE: Wow, you were lucky you didn t crash. BOSS: Ah, we did it all the time in those days. Anyway, we better talk about you, hey? They tell me you want to be made an associate? EMPLOYEE: Uh, well, I was hoping to get an idea of where my strengths and weaknesses are you know, the things I need to develop to be considered for the associate position. BOSS: Sure, sure. I m all about that generation Y stuff. Here, the best way to discuss these things is over a beer, I guarantee it. EMPLOYEE: Oh, well, I wasn t really intending to drink. BOSS: Nor was I, but crazy things happen, huh? Go on - between you and me, this is how all the promotions in this city start. EMPLOYEE: It s just that I ve got to drive home. BOSS: Just take the back streets, you ll be okay. EMPLOYEE: Well, I also have to pick my son up from daycare on the way home Actually, I know this is really rude, but I do need to head off by five to get him. BOSS: Oh, right <looks at watch> Right on five Oh well, priorities, right? That s... every day is it?

3 EMPLOYEE: Oh, well, I mean, I do a lot of work from home BOSS: Hey, that s fine flexible workplace and all that. Generation Y, I totally get it Your son can t walk home? EMPLOYEE: He s five years old. BOSS: So walking s definitely out then? EMPLOYEE: Yes. BOSS: You re sure? Right so, you want to be an associate. EMPLOYEE: Well BOSS: Are you sure you don t want a drink? EMPLOYEE: Well, I guess just one can t hurt. BOSS: Perfect! <to the bartender> Scotch for each of us - neat, with actually look, just bring the bottle and two glasses, we can sort the rest out. We ve got important things to discuss. That s more like it! To the future! EMPLOYEE: Ha to the future They clink their glasses and drink.

4 Roleplay 3 MALE EMPLOYEE is at the bar with FEMALE EMPLOYEE. It is clearly late - they are drunk. MALE EMPLOYEE: Oh wow, what a night. FEMALE EMPLOYEE: Yeah, you guys have massive Friday nights! MALE EMPLOYEE: Hey, we should go dancing. FEMALE EMPLOYEE: Really? MALE EMPLOYEE: Don t be deceived by my age. I am a masterful dancer - and the amazing thing is, I get better the drunker I get. FEMALE EMPLOYEE: I heard your wife wasn t too happy after we went out last Friday... MALE EMPLOYEE: Hey now, I won t hear a bad word about my wife. She gives me 100% sound advice - 99% sound, 1% advice. FEMALE EMPLOYEE: Uh-huh... MALE EMPLOYEE: Hey, do you know what they call a wife who s lost 95% of her intelligence? Divorced! FEMALE EMPLOYEE: Yes, yes, hilarious. MALE EMPLOYEE: Come on, I m just fooling around. That s what us older guys do. But you know what they say - a man s only as old as the woman he feels. FEMALE EMPLOYEE: Oh God, not this again. MALE EMPLOYEE: Hey, what food can diminish a woman s sex drive by 90%? Wedding cake! FEMALE EMPLOYEE: This is pathetic. Is this how every Friday night is going to end? MALE EMPLOYEE: Hey, what? What s wrong? I m just joking. FEMALE EMPLOYEE: See you Monday. FEMALE EMPLOYEE leaves quickly. As she leaves, MALE EMPLOYEE takes a photo of her butt.
