REGULATIONS OF THE 100 MILES OF AMSTERDAM 7 17 GENERAL The event is not designed as a test of speed, but of the reliability of the motorcar under harsh conditions, and of the consistency and skills of Driver and Mechanic. The objective is to complete the course, visiting all of the Control points along the way in the correct order and within the set time. The normal traffic regulations prevail always above the indications in these regulations. For your safety the cars will be scrutinised before the start. Please be sure to read what we wrote about it in the Bulletins and on the website. See Appendix 1 for the penalty points. The Organization can at all time give penalty points to those not complying with the Regulations, especially (but not exclusively) when to the judgement of the Officials safety is involved. Marshals can also remove participants from the competition if they do not comply with their instructions or if they create danger for others. The 100 Miles of Amsterdam consists of two Sections. Each Section will have a Time Control at the end. Cars will start at one-minute interval at Time Control 1. The first car will have a starting time of 18:01 and each consecutive car will have an Ideal starting time one minute later. As a consequence each consecutive car has an Ideal Time of arrival, which is one minute later then the previous starting car. You will be handed out the Road Book as well as the Control Cards while waiting in line for the start. In all situations where these regulations do not foresee, the judgement of the organisation will prevail.

RALLY SYSTEM The aim of the game is to drive the correct road from start to finish in the correct time. Everyone should be able to drive the route without excessive speed. If you feel that you will be late at the end of a section it is best to take a shortcut in order not to be disqualified. This happens when you are more than 30 minutes late. A few rules do apply: 1. Map Reading 1. You are only allowed to use roads that are shown on the distributed map fragments. 2. Only roads with two borderlines may be used. One of the borderlines may be dotted. NB: Tunnels have two dotted borderlines and may be used. 3. Within a circle drawn on the map fragments it is allowed to use all roads, whether on the map or not. The real life situation is often different from the one on the map. 4. Within those circles no Controls (see later) will be posted. 5. Roads on the map fragment marked with a blocking cross may not be used. 6. Newly constructed roundabouts can be considered as regular crossings and can be used as such. 7. Turning on the road is not permitted. 8. When turning on a set of roads or a roundabout do so counter-clockwise. 9. Original map signs and text on the map do not interrupt or block the road. This is also true for lines indicating an enlarged part of the map. 10. Text or flags added to the map do interrupt roads on the map. Arrows necessary to indicate a special location or action to be taken (i.e. turn left) do not interrupt de roads on the map. 11. If a road cannot be driven you should construct a new shortest road with roads, which are shown on the map fragments. This route should allow you to join the originally constructed route on the earliest possible moment. Turning should be avoided. 12. If it is impossible to drive an arrow entirely, drive as much as possible from it in the direction of the arrow. 13. The road sign dead end street does not close a road. 14. If you encounter the 100 Miles arrow, then you have to follow its direction.

2. Arrows and Flags The map fragments do have numbered arrows and flags drawn on them. 1. Flags indicate the start or end of a Section or the location of special stage. 2. From the start of a Section (indicated by a flag) to the next arrow, or from the last arrow to the end of the Section (indicated by a flag), the shortest route should also be chosen. 3. Taking into account the map reading regulations you should construct the shortest route from the tip of the arrow, which you are leaving to the foot of the consecutively numbered arrow. 4. Arrows have to be completed entirely and in one go from the foot to the tip. 5. It is not allowed to drive against the direction of an arrow (except when instructed so by a Marshal). 6. An arrow (or part of it) may be driven more than once. 7. There is always a road under the arrow. 3. Special Stages The rally will have several special stages. Please follow the instructions of the Marshalls, taking into account these regulations. 3a. Slalom At Tata Steel you will encounter the first such challenges. You will be getting a small map of the track you have to drive. Drive from start to finish (250 meters) the correct route. There might be control signs on the way. Stop is a Cheval. 3b. Ring Riding On a location in Amsterdam you will be asked to pick rings while driving the car. 3c. Know your car In the Amsterdams Bos (Amsterdam forest) you will be asked to drive a small stretch while not crushing any tomatoes. 3d. Slalom again You will be given a sheet with instructions for a small slalom. You are not allowed to stop or reverse. You will encounter RC s on the way.

CONTROLS There are two kinds of Controls, Time Controls (TC) and Route Controls (RC). 1. Time Controls Along the route you will be encountering several Time Controls (TC). Also, each section starts and ends with a (TC). Time controls are marked by the sign Controle. In The Road Book the Ideal Time for each TC is given for the fictive crew with starting number 0 ; the Standard Time. Your Ideal Time depends on your starting number. If you are crew 36 your Ideal Time is 36 minutes after the Standard Time. The Control Cards will specify the Standard Time. In the next column you can fill in your Ideal Time. 2. Route Controls 2.a. Unmanned Controls Unmanned Route Controls, or in short Route Controls (RC), are there to check if you did drive the correct route. These are letters on the side of the road. The RC s are usually placed on the right side of the road. They are placed in such a way that you should see them easily and that it is clear to which road they belong. Not all the RC s, which are found on the way, are on the correct route. These are the so-called False Controls and should not be taken over on the Control Card. We do not want you to look around for a Control within city limits. However this does not mean there are none. They are either on the way directly in or out of town or on a numbered arrow within the city limits.

2.b. Manned Controls You can also encounter manned controls. A Marshall will ask you for your control card and put a stamp on it or give indications. Manned Controls are often inside a building and are indicated by the reflecting sign Controle. Manned Controls are often also TC s. PANALTIES 1. Originality of the car All electrical and mechanical parts as available up to 31 January 1940 and known from use in any road going or racecar in that time are allowed. The use of more modern parts or equipment can lead to 100 penalty points for each issue: - Lighting - Engine - Other major parts with the exclusion of the bodywork - to be judged by the organization. See Appendix 1 for more details. The use of modern navigation equipment or smartphones is not only not allowed but is very much against the spirit of the rally. It will be penalised heavily. Expect this to be checked during the rally! 2. At Time Controls For every minute that a car is late or early at a TC the participants will get a penalty of 1 points with a maximum of 30 points. Reporting at the TC between 1 and 60 seconds too early will thus yield you 10 penalty points. Reporting on your Ideal Time to 59 seconds after your Ideal Time is considered as reporting on exactly the right time and will not yield any penalty time. When late or early at a TC the Ideal Time for the next TC does change accordingly. At the end of Section 1 you have 30 minutes which may be used to recuperate lost time. When a car does not start within 30 minutes of its Ideal Time at the Start of the first or second Section, or when a car has more than 30 minutes delay at the end of a section, the car will be considered to have withdrawn from the event. At the end of each Section a given Ideal Time is set. Participants are allowed to come in 15 minutes ahead of their ideal time but must request the Marshal to write down their Ideal reporting time.

3. At Route controls Every RC missed or every False Control yields 30 penalty points. 4. Special Challenges 4a. Slalom You will be getting 1 Penalty points for each second (or part thereof), which it takes you to cover the distance of the test and stop à cheval. You will be getting 10 Penalty points for each cone you hit, overthrown or missed. You will be getting 10 Penalty points for not stopping à Cheval. Not performing the Slalom will yield 300 Penalty points. 4b. Ring riding You will get 15 Penalty points for each ring missed. 4c. Know your car Each tomato crushed will yield one penalty point with a maximum of 30. 4d. Slalom again Each time you stop or reverse you will be getting 15 penalty points.

CONTROL CARDS You will be handed out three Control Cards together with the Roadbook at the start of the rally. 1. A card for the TC s with on the back: 2. A card for the special stages 3. A card for the RC s Please fill in your starting number and name on each card. Ad 1. TC card The first square of each row has the location on the map (flag) where the time is taken. The second square has the Standard Time. You can fill in your Ideal Time in the next square. The other squares are for the Marshals. Ad 2. The special stages card To be filled in by the Marshals Ad 3. RC card The card has a number of fields where you can fill in the RC s. The RC s should be entered in these fields in numbered order by clear, non-removable ballpoint writing. Skipping one square, changing letters after these have been entered will be penalised by 30 points. When arriving at a Control the Control Cards should be handed over to the Marshall. At the end of a section the Marshal will write the time of arrival, or in case of early arrival, the requested Ideal Time of arrival. CLASSIFICATION The 100 miles of Amsterdam has one overall winner and winners for each class (see the Section on Age categories ). The winner will be the crew with the least amount of (penalty) points. If the overall winner is also the winner of one of the three age categories, the first prize for that category will go to the next best in that category. In case of an ex aequo the oldest registered car is supposed to have won. If this does not yield a winner the car with the lowest engine capacity will have won.

PROTEST It is possible to protest against the decision of the Organisation. This can be done up to 15 minutes after the proclamation of the winner. This should be done in written and be accompanied with 200 in cash. If the protest is granted the money will be refunded. Drive carefully and have fun!
