To our Shareholders, Customers & Friends We are pleased to present the Annual Report of Peoples State Bank, which covers the operations for the year 2017, and to share other information with you as we begin During 2017, the bank grew from $736 million in Total Assets to $770 million, a 4.67% growth. More importantly, loan growth was 8.75%, a total of $41 million over last year, and bank deposits grew by almost $12 million, or 1.86%. This growth was due to the hard work and customer service provided by the entire staff of the bank. Financially, the bank remains very strong, with a Capital:Asset Ratio of 10.3% at the end of Concerning the key ratios, Return on Average Assets (ROA) was at 1.59 in 2017, compared to 1.47 in Return on Average Equity (ROE) was 15.65% in 2017, compared to 14% in Profitability was up 18.8%, with net income at $12 million in 2017, compared to 10.1 million in Overall equity capital grew approximately $8 million in 2017, with the total capital for the bank at $79 million at year end. In September, we opened our Operations Center, located in Prairie du Chien across the street from our Main Office location. This move gives us much needed space as we continue to grow with new staff, additional products and additional services. This past year, the bank welcomed H. Brooke Grinde as a new Director. He brings both production agriculture and agri-business experience to the bank. Growing up on a small livestock farm in West Central Wisconsin, Brooke graduated with a degree in Animal Science from the University of Wisconsin Madison. He and his wife, Jocelyn, live and farm near Potosi. Message from Mark 2018 will be a challenging year, with both the prospect of rising interest rates, and softness in the agricultural economy due to low commodity prices. We feel the bank is positioned well to react to the rising rates, both on the deposit side and the loan side. The agricultural economy side will have a greater impact; however, the bank has underwritten the agricultural loan portfolio conservatively, and we will work with our customers to get through this low commodity price cycle. Overall, the Southwest Wisconsin and Northeast Iowa economy is strong and the unemployment rate is low. The national economy, and stock market, is doing very well and this should contribute well to the local economy. It is important that we thank everyone who has been so closely involved in our success, and the support of our stockholders and customers has been tremendous. We can also appreciate the contributions of our entire organization of Directors, Officers and Staff.

Community Involvement Peoples State Bank s slogan is Community Minded just like You. In 2017, Peoples State Bank stayed true to that slogan by donating towards, volunteering at and sponsoring over 268 different community events, local charities and fundraisers. Throughout the year, many Peoples State Bank employees volunteered their time at local fundraisers and events such as Eagles Heart & Cancer Telethon, at local school districts during Teach Children to Save Week, helping clean up after storms came through the area, Viroqua s Bowl for Kids event, Wild West Days, Athletic Club Concessions in Dickeyville, Relay for Life, County Fairs and many more.
In April, each branch set goals to reduce the amount of paper statements sent out each month: reducing paper usage and saving trees in the process. Branches that reached their goal planted a tree in their designated community to give back. Community Involvement Just during the holiday season, Peoples State Bank donated $13,000 to our local food pantries to help provide food and supplies to those in need. Other fundraisers such as mitten trees and can food drives took place at designated branches during the Holidays as well.
Employee Jeans Days Not only does Peoples State Bank give back to the community, so does their employees. Throughout the year, employees raise funds on Jeans Day Friday. All together in 2017, Peoples State Bank employees raised $3, This money was donated back into the community to six deserving organizations, benefits and fundraisers.
In September, we opened our Operations Center, located in Prairie du Chien across the street from our Main Office location. This move gives us much needed space as we continue to grow with new staff, and additional products services. This building is not open to the public. New Operations Center Attached to the Operations Center is a drive-up ATM, available for customer use 24-7.
Financial Literacy To us, part of being a community bank means providing opportunities for community members to better themselves. We want to help people make wise financial decisions starting from an early age and throughout adulthood. MoneyIsland teaches financial concepts through gamification. Show your kids (or classroom) how to manage money early for free - and even better, it's fun!... During Teach Children to Save week, many of our staff members go into local schools to read books with financial concepts to young classrooms. Find answers to your adult financial questions on MyMazuma or stop in.... We participate in local Reality Days for high school students to share about life in the real world.... Several of our staff members will go into classrooms to teach about financial concepts when asked.
New Products & Services Mortgage Bot allows you to submit a mortgage application online. The process takes as little as 20 minutes and a Peoples State Bank Loan Officer will follow up to answer your questions. DesignIt! enables you to personalize your debit card background.
