Design: 4.. General: The allowable tension and shear loads for Powers power-driven fasteners installed in accordance with this report are shown in Tables A through 4B. The allowable tension and shear loads with required embedment depths and spacings, for fasteners installed in normal-weight concrete, are shown in Tables A and B. The allowable tension and shear loads for fasteners installed in sand-lightweight concrete and sand-lightweight concrete filled steel deck panels are shown in Tables 2A and 2B. The allowable tension and shear loads for fasteners installed into steel are shown in Tables A, B

3 ESR-2024 Most Widely Accepted and Trusted Page of 9 and C. The allowable tension and shear loads for sill plate fasteners installed into normal weight concrete are shown in Table 4A. The stress increases and load reductions described in Section of the IBC are not allowed for wind loads acting alone or when combined with gravity loads. No increase is allowed for vertical loads acting alone. Allowable loads for fasteners subjected to combined shear and tension forces are determined by the following formula: (p/p a ) + (v/v a ) where: p = Actual tension load, lbf (N). P a = Allowable tension load, lbf (N). v = Actual shear load, lbf (N). V a = Allowable shear load, lbf (N) Wood to Concrete and Steel: Reference lateral design values for nails with diameters less than or equal to the diameter of the fasteners, and with penetration into the main member of 0D, determined in accordance with Part and/or Table N of ANSI/AF&PA NDS, are applicable to the Powers fasteners. The wood element is the side member. The fastener bending yield strength is allowed to be taken as the value noted in the footnotes to Table N of the ANSI/AF&PA NDS, based on the diameter of the fastener. 4.. Sill Plate to Foundation Connections: 4... General: The fasteners described in Section..8 may be used to attach wood sill plates to a concrete foundation under the following conditions:. No cold joint exists between the slab and foundation, below the sill plate. 2. The sill plate is not installed on slabs supported by masonry foundation walls Design: The fasteners may be used to attach wood sill plates to concrete for structural walls in Seismic Design Categories A and B. Table 4A specifies the allowable fastener shear and tension loads for attachment of wood sill plates to concrete foundations. Washer thickness and bearing area are given in Table 4A. For shear loads, spacing of fasteners must be determined considering the lesser of allowable shear load from Table 4A and allowable load on the wood sill plate, determined in accordance with the NDS, with a fastener bending yield strength, F yb = 90,000 psi (62 MPa) and a concrete dowel bearing strength, F e =,00 psi (2 MPa). For tension loads, spacing of fasteners must be determined considering the lesser of allowable tension load from Table 4A and pull through capacity of the wood sill plate, based on Section.0 of the NDS, using the washer bearing area. The fasteners listed in Table 4B may be used to attach wood sill plates to concrete for interior, nonstructural walls [maximum horizontal transverse load on the wall must not exceed psf (0.24 kn/m 2 )] in Seismic Design Categories A through F, when installed as described in Table 4B Seismic Considerations: Use with Structural Components: Resistance to seismic loads is outside the scope of this report. Therefore, except as noted in Section 4...2, the suitability of the fasteners and assemblies for use with structural components that are subjected to seismic loads is outside the scope of this report Use with Nonstructural Components: Seismic load resistance is outside the scope of this report, except when use is with architectural, mechanical and electrical components described in Section..4 of ASCE, and as follows: Concrete base materials: The fasteners and assemblies installed in concrete may be used to support acoustical tile or lay-in panel suspended ceiling systems, distributed systems and distribution systems where the service load on any individual fastener does not exceed the lesser of 90 lbf (400 N) or the published allowable load in Table A, B, 2A or 2B, as applicable. Steel base materials: The fasteners and assemblies installed in steel may be used where the service load on any individual fastener does not exceed the lesser of 20 lbf (2 N) or the published allowable load shown in Table, 4 or, as applicable. For interior, nonstructural walls that are not subject to sustained tension loads and are not a bracing application, the fasteners may be used to attach steel track to concrete or steel in all Seismic Design Categories. In Seismic Design Categories D, E, and F, the allowable shear load due to transverse pressure must be no more than 90 pounds (400 N) when attaching to concrete; or 20 pounds (,2N) when attaching to steel. Substantiating calculations must be submitted addressing the fastener-to-base-material capacity and the fastener-to-attached-material capacity. Interior nonstructural walls are limited to locations where bearing walls, shear walls or braced walls are not required by the approved plans. The design load on the fastener must not exceed the allowable load established in this report for the concrete or steel base material. 4.2 Installation: The installation of fasteners requires a powder-actuated fastening tool, recommended by Powers Fastener, Inc., used in accordance with the manufacturer s published instructions. Fastener installation is limited to dry, interior environments. The fastener size, minimum penetration, minimum spacing, and edge distances must comply with Tables A through 4B of this report, as applicable. For fasteners installed into concrete, the fasteners must not be driven until the concrete has reached the designated compressive strength..0 CONDITIONS OF USE The Powers power-driven fasteners, ceiling clip assemblies, and sill plate anchorages described in this report comply with, or are suitable alternatives to what is specified in, those codes listed in Section.0 of this report, subject to the following conditions:. The fasteners must be identified and installed in accordance with this report and the manufacturer s published installation instructions. In the event of a conflict between this report and the manufacturer s published installation instructions, this report governs..2 Calculations demonstrating that the applied loads are less than the allowable loads described in this report must be submitted to the code official for approval. The calculations must be prepared by a registered design professional where required by the statutes of the jurisdiction in which the project is to be constructed.. Allowable tension and shear values must comply with Section 4.. of this report..4 Use of fasteners is limited to dry, interior locations.

4 ESR-2024 Most Widely Accepted and Trusted Page 4 of 9. The use of fasteners is limited to installation in uncracked concrete. Cracking occurs when f t > f r, due to service loads or deformations..6 Fasteners centered in wood sills must be a minimum of inches (44. mm) from the concrete edge.. Except for the mechanically galvanized 0.00 Head Drive pins described in Section.. and the mechanically galvanized washered pin assemblies described in Section.., use of fasteners in contact with preservative-treated or fire-retardant-treated wood is not permitted..8 See Section 4..4 for seismic considerations. 6.0 EVIDENCE SUBMITTED Data in accordance with the ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria for Fasteners Power-driven into Concrete, Steel, and Masonry Elements (AC0), dated February IDENTIFICATION The Powers power-driven fasteners are identified by a P stamped onto the head of the drive pin.
