1 Connecting the cable Preparing the coaxial cable and attaching the connector to the cable Make sure the outer mesh conductor (shield mesh) does not come in contact with the center conductor. Do not make any scratches on the center or mesh conductors. Do not stub yourself with the center conductor. Nippon Antenna Instruction Manual Terrestrial Digital Antenna Thin-Style Indoor/Outdoor UHF Antenna Preparation of the waterproof cap Cut the end of the cap accordance to the cable thickness (Diameter) Cut it off with scissors or knife Preparing for the cable (5CFB) The F-type connector is not supplied Tools: Cutter or knife, scissors, wire cutter, pliers Names of the parts outer cover Insert the waterproof cap before preparing for the cable. Mesh conductor shield wire center wire foil Cut the outer cover as shown (14mm long, 1mm deep) using a cutter or knife insulator aluminum ring waterproof cover F-Type connector peel off Connecting the cable to the antenna Peel off the end and insert the aluminum ring. Cutting the shield mesh off leaving 2mm from the edge of outer cover cut-off. Flip the shield mesh over the outer cover Cutting the aluminum foil and insulator off at 3mm from the edge of shield mesh conductor Insert the F-type connector between the aluminum foil and the shield mesh conductor. Secure the connector tightening the aluminum ring. Cutting the center wire diagonally leaving 1~2mm from the edge of the connector. Do not leave the center wire too long it may damage the connector terminals Cut it diagonally so it s easier to connect Make sure the center wire does not have any fitth on it, if so clean it off. Use the center wire diameter if it is under 1.5mm. If larger than the diameter, use the F-type connector that come with the center pin. * Use the same type of cable previously used when replacing the cable. Connect the coaxial cable to the antenna and tighten (2.0 N-m, or 20 kgf-cm) it using pliers. Place the waterproof cover over the connector. For areas that have heavy rain or salt-damages. Wrap some adhesion tape and vinyl tape around the connector then put the waterproof cover for additional protection. Thank you for purchasing our product. 2 Safety s Installation Precautions Picture indications The following symbols are indications of warnings and cautions for your safety and avoiding damages to your properties while installing the antenna. Do not touch the antenna or the cable while an electrical storm (thunder storm) is in progress Ignoring this may cause injuries to your body or damages to your properties Square vertical post Round vertical post Consult the specialist for the integrity of antenna structure and the performance after storms Have some space here Do not scratch the post Do nto use the antenna structure as a laundry umbrella Do not scratch the post Attach some strings on the parts and tie the other end to the antenna or to the post to avoid dropping them Warning Bolt stopper Small hole Large hole Away Place the mast between the bolts keep the antenna away from power lines as far as possible Always watch your steps while on the roof Do not drop any objects (such as tools) Metal Plate - B Place the bolt in the smaller hole of this hole and tighten it (It will not work well if it is placed in the larger hole) Mast Antenna Adjustment Install your antenna in a clear line of sight to the transmitting antenna Keep the antenna away from busy traffic, neon lights or high tension wires Turn it left a bit Choose the antenna position, direction and height for the best reception Keep the cable away from eves trough or roof shingles Adjust the antenna directions for obtaining the best reception before tightening the bolts Digital TV After connecting the antenna to a digital TV, tune to a digital broadcasting station. While monitoring the video quality, adjust the antenna direction for the best reception.
