2 2/8 PEM130ENG 02/08 GENERAL INFORMATION - Check that the kit is suitable for the cable type. - Check the materials listed in the bill of materials for completeness. - Read the installation instructions carefully before starting the installation. - Install carefully and make sure the materials are clean during the installation. - Clean the working place after the installation. GENERA L INSTRUCTIONS FOR HEAT SHRINKING - Use a propane burner with a flame length of approx cm. Do not use too large or sharp flame. - Move the flame all around the cable on the shrinking direction. Move the flame continuously to avoid overheating. - Make sure that the ventilation is good and there are no flammable materials around. - Clean the cable surfaces before shrinking. - When shrinking, always follow the installation instructions and the relevant sequence to avoid trapped air. - Check that the tube has shrunk evenly around the cable before you continue shrinking. - If the tube turns around at the end of shrinking, straighten the tube by directing the flame inside the tube from the opposite direction. - After shrinking the tubes should be smooth and even following the shape inside. Remember this when dimensioning. 1. Clean the cables, cut them so that they remain next to each other according to measure A+B. 2. Mark the peeling spots according to the chart and draw the outer tubing on the cable. Peel the cable outer sheaths and, if necessary, bend the cores before cutting them to their final lengths, cut and peel the conductors according to given measures. 4. Roughen the cable outer sheath on the peeling spot about 150 mm with the grinding paper included in the kit. 5. Draw the inner tubings on the cores.

(The connector sleeve is not needed). Brush the Al conductors before installing the connectors. Set the connectors so that the boltheads face outwards. 7. SJK0.47: Tighten the screws with the allen key included in the kit until the key bends or until 5 Nm. 8. Other SJK and SJKK types: Use a socket wrench or a socket key to tighten the bolts. Support the cable joint with a holding tool included in the kit and tighten the bolts until they break. 9. Centre the insulation tubes on the connectors and shrink them from the centre. 10. Allow the tubes to cool down and then press them together.

5 PEM130ENG 02/08 5/8 11. SJK joint kit (with outer tube): Centre the outer sheath tube on the joint and shrink starting from the centre. 12. SJKK joint kit (with wrap around sleeve): Centre the wrap around the sleeve on the joint, close it and shrink starting from the centre. 13. The joint is ready but remember to let it cool down before exposing it under mechanical stress. Wrap some tape on the crutch of the 3+1 core cable. 17. Twist the Cu-wires of the concentric conductor together, if necessary bend it double first.
