Answer: In U.S. Saws arsenal of blades, the Tiger Tooth blades are best for removal of polyurea from joints. These blades are thin and have holes in the segments that prevent the blade from loading up. These are diamond blades with oversized diamond grit and step segments for longer life. They can be used dry, so it works perfectly with joint saws. Since the Tiger Tooth blades are thin you can stack the blades to achieve greater thickness. Tiger Tooth blades are offered in sizes from 4 inches to 10 inches for joint cleanout applications.

Project Of The Quarter This quarter s featured job is the beautiful, pearl metallic floor pictured below, located in Madison, Wisconsin.

The owner planned on moving her florist shop and was looking for a unique floor for the new location. Grote described his process for creating the effect.

4 Project Of The Quarter This quarter s featured job is the beautiful, pearl metallic floor pictured below, located in Madison, Wisconsin. Jonathon Grote and his team at HGS Protective Coatings from McFarland, Wisconsin transformed Red Square Flowers establishment into a work of art. This floor can be seen in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. The owner planned on moving her florist shop and was looking for a unique floor for the new location. Grote described his process for creating the effect. First, HGS Protective Coatings applied a clear primer to the floor. Next, they applied a base metallic color, in this case they used pearl metallic. Then, they applied the effect coat which was another solid coat of pearl metallic. After the effect coat, they immediately applied random patterns of a sterling silver coat and marbleized the two layers together with a Magic Squeegee. They let the swirled coats set over night. The following day, they applied their Micor urethane for added abrasion resistance and UV stability. Grote says, It s more of a large piece of art than a floor, and he is absolutely correct. 5 This Issue s Feature Product: Early Entry Saw The Early Entry saw is a compact, lightweight, and cost effective way to cut control joints in green concrete. It is powered by a 15 amp, right angle grinder. It s ideal for indoor jobs where exhaust fumes cannot be tolerated (has a 2 vacuum port). The wide, polyurethane wheels track perfectly straight and allow the saw to make accurate cuts up to 2 deep. The saw s up-cut rotation pulls the saw downward into the cut for consistent depth and its skid plate prevents the concrete from unravelling. Early Entry Saw Success U.S. Saws introduced its Early Entry Concrete Cutting Saw at the beginning of the year. Since then, customers have loved it. With the same classic body design as the popular Dust Buggy, we knew we would have a successful product when creating the Early Entry Saw. Cutting green concrete, however, presented challenges that the Dust Buggy never had. We knew the saw would need a lighter imprint on the green concrete so that no impression of the saw was left during the cut. So, we designed the Early Entry Saw with wider, polyethylene wheels and thicker axles. This alone was not enough to fix all of the problems we faced with cutting green concrete. We found that in cutting green concrete with the same foot plate as the Dust Buggy Joint Saw, the concrete unravelled at the freshly cut joint. So we began work on designing a special skid plate to fit under the saw. We fashioned the skid plate to have a narrower opening so that the likelihood of unravelling was decreased. The skid plate is on a spring-loaded system so that the plate moves with the curve or inaccuracies in the concrete. With all of these new features, we found that the Early Entry Saw tracked perfectly straight, left no imprint on the concrete, and did not unravel the joints. Now that we had a complete green concrete saw, we took it on a live job site. A customer of ours was contracted to pour a new housing development s driveways. This included cutting control joints in each driveway. Before the Early Entry Saw, the contractor used chop saws with a concrete blade to cut control joints. We offered him the opportunity to test the unit to find out if he saw a clear benefit using the Early Entry Saw. On this particular job site, dust control was not an issue, so no vacuum was connected, although there is a 2 vacuum port on the saw. He started at the top of the driveway. He set his desired depth, lowered the blade, and off he went. Within minutes, he had cut a control joint in the entire length of the drive. Needless to say, he was quite impressed. Not only did the Early Entry Saw method save him time, but it also...the Early Entry Saw [cuts] were perfectly straight and looked very professional.

New This Season: Updated Dual Component Polymer Pump Manifold U.S. Saws has changed the configuration of the dispensing manifold on the Dual Component Polymer Pump to allow the user to be able to clean it easier. The configuration also reduces the likelihood of blockage. The fluid lines now come into the back of the manifold and have a more direct angle to the tip, eliminating the 90 turns in the previous design. Because of the narrow design, a new wand extension must be replaced.
