A Special Note About Masonry SPACE FOR SEALANT WEATHER BARRIER TAPE SPACE FOR SEALANT WEATHER BARRIER TAPE The perimeter joint between window exterior and the exterior building material must conform to siding manufacturers recommendations. All masonry, stucco, or synthetic stucco systems require an expansion joint around the window perimeter that must be filled with sealant compatible with the building material and window components. Expansion joint space should be no less than 3/8" and not greater than 1/2" unless stated otherwise by your siding manufacturer. If there is a conflict, follow siding manufacturer s guidelines. Failure of this joint will cause structural damage unrelated to window performance. Recognize this symbol. This is the Safety-Alert symbol. When you see this symbol be alert to the potential for personal injury or product damage. Falling from window opening may result in serious injury or death. DO NOT leave openings unattended when children are present. Weight of window and door unit(s) and accessories will vary. Use a reasonable number of people with sufficient strength to lift, carry and install window or door unit(s) and accessories. Always consider site conditions and use appropriate techniques when installing. CUT HAZARD *Non-safety Glass. *May cause serious injuries if broken. *Do not install where tempered safety glass is required. Screen will not stop children, any one or anything from falling out window. Keep children and objects away from open window. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Read installation instructions completely before beginning procedure. Wear gloves, safety glasses, goggles or eye shields appropriate to procedure. iv

After the sill and jambs are removed clean all debris from the rough opening and inspect for: Rot or water damage. Squareness of opening. Measure diagonally from corner to corner. Measurements must be within 1/4" of each other. Check framing lumber for flatness and twist. Check rough sill and header for level. Check trimmer studs for plumb and alignment with each other. Remove any obstructions that would prevent window from fitting properly (FIGURE 6). IMPORTANT: Any problems found must be fixed before proceeding. To complete an effective installation the rough opening must be structurally sound, square, level, plumb and without twist or distortion. 4

W FIGURE 3 FIGURE 4 H ROUGH OPENING WIDTH FRAME WIDTH TOP VIEW Rough Opening Preparation FIGURE 2 SIDE VIEW FRAME HEIGHT ROUGH OPENING IMPORTANT: High-quality, exterior, neutral-cure, clear, silicone sealant (compatible with vinyl extrusion and exterior face of the wall) is to be used for all procedures in the following instructions which call for caulking or sealant. IMPORTANT: Check to make sure you have the correct window type and the correct size window (Width and Height) for your rough opening (). 1. Measure the rough opening to ensure that it is not more than 1/2" taller in overall Height or 1/2" wider in overall Width than the Frame Height or Frame Width in (FIGURE 2 & 3). 2. As a cross reference measure the frame Height and frame width of the new window (FIGURE 2 & 3). This provides a double check to ensure the new Visions ELS window will fit in the existing rough opening. 3. Make sure walls are plumb and not twisted (FIGURE 4). Make necessary corrections to ensure walls are plumb and straight (FIGURE 5). If siding exists on the exterior, and the brick mould is to fit within the siding, the offset of the rough opening to the siding may need to be increased. Measure siding opening side to side and top to bottom and compare it to the replacement window. Excess siding may need to be removed and/or the unit shimmed up or down to avoid interference with the replacement unit. FIGURE 5 5

FIGURE 6 Rough Opening Preparation (cont.) Improper use of hand and power tools could result in personal injury and/or product damage. Follow equipment manufacturers instructions for safe operation. Always wear safety glasses. FIGURE 7 CUT CORNER & FOLD DOWN ONTO SILL FIGURE 8 FOLD IMPORTANT: Maintain the continuity of any existing weather barrier (house wrap, sill seal, or felt paper) to provide weather integrity and proper drainage. 4. If existing rough sill is not protected with weather barrier self-adhering tape, cut a piece wide enough to lap horizontal run of existing weather barrier (below the rough sill) and provide enough material to fold up onto sill for at least 1" (FIGURE 6). Make piece as long as the rough opening width plus 16". Apply by partially peeling protective liner on one end. Start 8" up on side and press adhesive face onto framing and rough sill. Peel back the protective paper as you apply the self-adhering tape. Keep tape tight as you work along to minimize bulges and bubbles. 5. After application, cut tape along the corners and fold corners and extending flap to overlap any existing weather barrier or felt paper (FIGURE 7). 6. Apply a second continuous piece of weather barrier self-adhering tape on the top surface of the rough sill (FIGURE 8). Cut barrier tape the thickness of the wall and 12" longer than the width of the opening. Extend the edge of the tape 1" past the exterior wall surface. Start the piece (approximately 6") up the side of the rough opening and run it to the bottom of the opening, to the other side of the opening, and 6" up the other side. Cut the sill piece on both corners of the rough opening (as in Step 5), and fold along the outside wall (FIGURE 8). 6

Rough Opening Preparation (cont.) FIGURE Cut two pieces of self-adhering weather barrier tape long enough to extend from top of rough opening to bottom of opening. Apply to each side (FIGURE 9). Tape must be wide enough to meet the siding and have at least 1" that can fold onto the rough opening framing. 8. Cut and fold upper and lower corners of side pieces in the same way the sill piece was cut and folded. 9. Cut a piece of weather barrier self-adhering tape for the head. Make it long enough to cover the width of the rough opening and the side pieces just applied. Tape must be wide enough to meet the siding and have at least 1" that can fold up onto the rough opening header (0). Use only enough pressure to cut the excess tape while leaving existing weather barrier intact. 10. Using a utility knife, carefully trim along the rough opening edges to remove any excess weather barrier tape that would prevent window (brick mould or nailing fin) from sitting flush against the framing (1). 1 7

Check Rough Opening for Level and Square STRAIGHTEDGE LEVEL FIGURE 2 1-1/2" W x 4-1/2" L SHIMS IMPORTANT: For best results the straightedge must have straight parallel edges and must be shorter than the rough opening by no more than 1". 1. With a level on the straightedge, check level of the rough sill. 2. Place a 1-1/2" x 4-1/2" shim (under the straightedge) at the low end of the rough sill. Locate shim against the side of the rough opening (). Adjust the shim until level is achieved. IMPORTANT: To ensure that the sash operate smoothly, make sure that the sill is level and straight. 3. Measure the opening diagonally from corner-tocorner (FIGURE 2 & 2A). Use top of shim for the lower corner. The measurements should not differ more than 1/4". 4. Apply a generous bead of high-quality, exterior, neutral-cure, clear, silicone sealant (compatible with vinyl extrusion and exterior face of the wall) to the face of the wall around the entire perimeter of the rough opening (FIGURE 3). 14 Window Installation Units With Nailing Fin IMPORTANT: When accessories such as jamb extension have been ordered, apply according to the directions on Page 24 BEFORE you install the unit OR prep the rough opening. IMPORTANT: Before you begin, make sure sash is closed and locked. IMPORTANT: Remove all shipping and packing material. FIGURE 2 Improper use of hand and power tools could result in personal injury and/or product damage. Follow equipment manufacturers instructions for safe operation. Always wear safety glasses. Weight of window units and accessories will vary. Use a reasonable number of people with sufficient strength to lift, carry and install windows and accessories. Always consider site conditions and use appropriate techniques when installing. FIGURE 3 IMPORTANT: Rough opening prep and caulking steps described on Pages 5 through 8 must be completed before proceeding. 1. From the exterior lift and center window in the rough opening. While holding unit in place, level unit on the interior or exterior across the sill and head. If necessary to level the unit, place shims directly below the side jambs only. IMPORTANT: If unit is mulled it must be supported with shims under each sill mull jamb for proper support. 2. While holding unit in place, square and plumb jambs (FIGURE 2 & 3). This can be done from the interior or exterior. Check both side-to-side and inside-to-outside. Measure unit from corner-tocorner to check for square. To plumb, level and square, use a pry bar to shift unit and shim as needed. 9

Window Installation Units With Nailing Fin (cont.) FIGURE 4 FIGURE 5 FIGURE 7 IMPORTANT: If unit is to meet design pressure ratings, it must be installed the same way as it was tested at the lab. A maximum 1/4" shim space is required around the perimeter. Unit must be secured with #8 steel screws, long enough to penetrate framing material by at least 1-1/2", through ALL pre-punched nailing fin holes. Please refer to the test reports on line at or contact your customer service representative. 3. Secure a side top corner with a #8 steel screw long enough to penetrate the framing material by at least 1-1/2" (FIGURE 4). NOTE: If maintaining design pressure ratings are not a concern, roofing nails long enough to penetrate framing material by at least 1-1/2", may be used instead of screws. 4. Check again for level, plumb and square. Use a pry bar to slide bottom of window left or right until diagonal measurements are exactly the same (FIGURE 5). 5. Secure opposite top corner of unit and check again for level, plumb and square (FIGURES 7 & 8). Use shims and a straightedge to straighten the side and top jamb. When straight, fasten through the prepunched holes in the nailing fin. In a similar manner, straighten the sill and fasten through all of the prepunched holes in the sill nailing fin. Finish securing unit in opening by screwing through all the prepunched holes in the nailing fin. Fastener heads should not over compress the nailing fin. NOTE: If maintaining design pressure ratings are not a concern, roofing nails long enough to penetrate framing material by at least 1-1/2", may be used instead of screws. Continue nailing fin unit installation on Page 18. FIGURE 8 10

Window Installation Without Nailing Fin PLEASE READ Visions ELS windows, without nailing fins, can be installed either by fastening through the balance pockets or by using installation clips. Both methods will be explained. Improper use of hand and power tools could result in personal injury and/or product damage. Follow equipment manufacturers instructions for safe operation. Always wear safety glasses. IMPORTANT: When a Visions ELS window is installed without a nailing fin, a fulllength drip cap MUST be installed at the time of window installation. See Page 12. SCORE WITH UTILITY KNIFE Remove Nailing Fin (if required) 1. Place window exterior side up on a smooth flat surface. Score each fin, next to the brick mould, with a utility knife (). Use a hacksaw or tin snips to make an initial cut into a fin (FIGURE 1A). Now bend the fin, adjacent to this cut, up and down with locking pliers until it breaks off (B). Continue this method until all fins are removed. A B Extra Caulking Required For Install Without Nailing Fin SILICONE SEALANT 3 SEALANT BEADS. 1/2" DIA., 1" APART, 4" LONG. SPACE EACH SET 16" TO 20" APART OR RUN FULL WIDTH OF SILL. In lieu of mechanical fasteners at the sill, set(s) of silicone sealant are required. Place sealant on the sill in groups of three beads that are 4" long, 1/2" in diameter, with each bead spaced 1" from each other. Space silicone bead sets on the sill every 16" to 20" along the width of the unit (). For shorter width units, place the bead set at the middle. If rough opening height prevents 1/2" diameter caulk beads from making an effective seal, add solid full-length material to reduce rough opening height. See an alternative method under the caution on the next page. 11

Window Installation Without Nailing Fin Screw In Through Balance Pocket IMPORTANT: When accessories such as jamb extension have been ordered, apply according to the directions on Page 24 BEFORE you install the unit OR prep the rough opening. IMPORTANT: Before you begin, make sure sash is closed and locked. IMPORTANT: Remove all shipping and packing material. Weight of window units and accessories will vary. Use a reasonable number of people with sufficient strength to lift, carry and install windows and accessories. Always consider site conditions and use appropriate techniques when installing. FIGURE 3 FIGURE 2 CAULK UNDERSIDE OF DRIP CAP. APPLY BEAD FULL LENGTH & AT ENDS. IMPORTANT: All Steps on Pages 1 through 8 and the extra caulking described on Page 11 MUST be completed before proceeding. Install Drip Cap 1. Measure width of unit and cut drip cap so it is 1/8" longer than width of top brick mould. 2. Apply a generous, continuous bead of sealant to the back side of the vertical leg of the drip cap (). 3. Insert top lip of drip cap under siding and push snugly to top (FIGURE 2). Apply caulking as shown. Center drip cap side-to-side in the opening. Do not wipe extra caulk off sill while installing unit. As an alternative, don t caulk sill as instructed on Page 11. Insert window into rough opening (drip cap must be in place). Use temporary shims to lift the unit high enough to apply a generous bead of sealant under the unit, along its full width. After this sealant is installed, use a pry bar to remove the temporary shims and lower unit onto sealant bed. Then proceed as in Step 4 below. Insert Window Into Rough Opening 4. From the exterior lift and center window on the rough opening. Insert head brick mould under drip cap, centering window from side-to-side, and then slide remaining body of window into the rough opening. Insert unit far enough into the rough opening so the back side of the brick mould is embedded in the sealant applied around the exterior face of the rough opening and the sill rests on the sealant bed. IMPORTANT: If unit is mulled it must be supported with shims under each sill mull jamb for proper support. When installing unit, bracing, clamps, another person or some way to hold unit in opening is required until unit is fully secured with screws or installation brackets. 5. While holding unit in place, level it on the interior or exterior across the sill and head. From the interior, add shims between rough opening and window frame to hold window firmly in alignment. Square and plumb jambs from the interior. Check both side-to-side and inside-to-outside. Measure unit from corner-to-corner to check for square. To plumb, level and square, use a pry bar to shift unit. Add more shims to hold window firmly in place for the next steps. 12

Shim the top and bottom ends of the side jamb on the left or right (FIGURE 2) to get the diagonal measurements ( & 1A) of the entire window assembly exactly the same. Using a level as a straightedge, place shims between the frame and the rough opening to straighten the side jamb and sill (FIGURE 2). Loosely insulate between the window frame and rough opening. IMPORTANT: Straighten and support mull unit sills with wood shims under the ends of the jambs. IMPORTANT: Do not over pack insulation. IMPORTANT: Do not use expandable foam. Installation is ready for interior wall finish and trim. Check Sash Operation and Alignment FIGURE 3 Sash is Equal on Both Sides 1/2" 1. Unlock window and raise sash until it is fully open. Lower the sash to within 1/2" from the sill (FIGURE 3). The gap should be equal on both sides. 2. If gap is unequal the unit requires adjustment. Follow procedures in the section Square and Straighten the Interior. Check gap after each adjustment until an equal reveal is obtained. 19

The lock cams must engage lock slot insert in the meeting rail. 2. Unit is unlocked when sash lock lever is rotated as far as it will go COUNTERCLOCKWISE (FIGURE 2). 3. (FIGURE 3) shows a top view of the sash with locking cam exposed and lever halfway between lock and unlock. UNLOCKED FIGURE 3 LOCK UNLOCK 20

Sash Removal Single Hung Tilt If removing or tilting sash in and returning to closed position while standing on a ladder or step stool, be careful not to loose your balance. Sash can be heavy and caution should be used when removing. It is recommended that the sash be removed with adequate number of persons. FIGURE 2 FIGURE 3 SLIDE LATCHES TOWARD CENTER OF WINDOW TILT INWARD Use care when working on ladders and scaffold, falls could occur. Follow all safety procedures recommended by ladder, scaffold and tool manufacturers. Use care when working around window openings, a fall could occur. 1. Unlock and raise sash approximately 4" (). 2. With index fingers, slide tilt latches (on top of sash) towards center of window until latches clear the side jamb (FIGURE 2). 2. Pull or tilt top of sash in toward you (FIGURE 3). Sash now tilts in, for cleaning, while remaining hinged at the bottom. 3. To remove the sash, tilt sash in so it is at right angles to the window frame (FIGURE 4). Grasp the sash firmly on both sides and lift one side straight up to disengage the sash pivot pin (FIGURE 5). Lift the opposite side up and out of the liner. FIGURE 4 FIGURE 5 21

FIGURE 2 INNER TRACK BALANCE SHOE FOR SASH Sash Re-Install NOTE: ON SINGLE HUNG TILT UNITS Only the lower sash is removable. IMPORTANT: When placing sash into side jambs, the sash pivot pins MUST BE ABOVE the balance shoes so the latching mechanism in the shoe will engage pivot pins when the sash is lowered onto the balance shoes. 1. Grasp the sash so that the exterior surface is up (FIGURE 2) and the bottom edge of the sash faces the window (pivot pins are located at the bottom edge of the sash) (FIGURE 3). 2. With one side of sash angled up (FIGURE 2), place pivot pin so it sits on the top of the balance shoe in the side jamb (FIGURE 3). Lower opposite side of the sash, so that its pivot pin is above opposite side balance shoe (FIGURE 3A). FIGURE 3 BOTTOM EDGE OF SASH BOTTOM OF SASH BALANCE SHOE PIVOT PIN LOCATION EXTERIOR SURFACE A PIVOT PIN SEATS HERE BALANCE SHOE SLOT If pivot pins are placed below balance shoes the pivot pins will not be supported. Sash will have no counter balance and could fall rapidly possibly causing personal injury or property damage. When inserting sash in frame, pivot pins MUST BE ABOVE balance shoes. 3. Align the pivot pin with the slot on the balance shoe (FIGURE 3 & 3A). 4. Slide sash down until each pivot pin fully engages the balance shoe slot. 5. After pivot pins are fully engaged in balance shoes, tilt or push the top of the sash up and away from you (FIGURE 4) until the tilt latches on top of sash snap into both side jambs. Tug gently inward on top of lower sash to check tilt latch engagement. Be sure tilt latches on BOTH sides are fully seated (FIGURE 5) to keep window from unintentionally falling inward. FIGURE 5 FIGURE 4 TILT OUTWARD SASH CLOSED WITH TILT LATCH FULLY ENGAGED 22

Screen Removal FIGURE 2 CHANNEL ON MEETING RAIL SCREEN IN CHANNEL AT SILL View from outside with screen in place. FIGURE 3 View from inside. LIFT TABS AND PUSH BOTTOM OUT Screen will not stop children, any one or anything from falling out window. Keep children and objects away from open window. NOTE: Screen is held at the the top by a channel in the meeting rail and at the bottom by a channel in the sill (FIGURES 1 & 2). 1. Unlock sash and raise fully. Follow previous instructions for unlocking sash. Maintain firm grip on screen so wind or other conditions will not pull it from your grasp, endangering people and objects below your window. 2. From the inside, firmly grasp tabs at bottom of screen and pull upward until bottom of screen clears screen channel in sill (FIGURE 3). 3. While holding screen, push screen outward and down until top drops out of channel in meeting rail. 4. Carefully transfer your grip to the sides of the screen. Then rotate the screen and bring inside. FIGURE 4 Screen Re-Install 1. Orient screen with tabs down and to the inside and springs up. 2. With sash fully raised maneuver screen through opening and insert top of screen into channel in meeting rail. Center screen side-to-side in the window frame. 3. With top of screen in meeting rail channel, lift screen up enough to compress springs (FIGURE 4). 4. With springs compressed, pull bottom of screen inward until bottom seats in sill channel. 23

Jamb Extension Option FIGURE 2 FRAME HEIGHT FRAME WIDTH IMPORTANT: Jamb extension must be applied to the window unit BEFORE the unit is installed or the rough opening is prepared. Place unit and jamb extension pieces (interior facing up) on a clean flat surface (). NOTE: A Visions 2000 Casement window is shown, however the Jamb Extension application procedure is the same for all vinyl windows. NOTE: For non-dpr installations only. Rough opening may need to be enlarged 3/8" to 1/2" to provide clearance for accessories and insulation. DPR installations MUST maintain the 1/4" shim space on all sides (see Page 10). How To Measure When Lineal Jamb Extension is Ordered To find the horizontal and vertical lengths when jamb extension is ordered in lineal pieces, measure the frame width for the horizontal pieces (FIGURE 2). Cut back the vinyl snap-in-clip by 11/16" on each end of the horizontal jamb extension only (FIGURE 3). The length for the vertical pieces is the frame height minus 1-3/8" (FIGURE 2). To Apply Jamb Extension 1. Lay the pieces of jamb extension, so that the vinyl snap-in-clip faces the window (FIGURE 3). FIGURE 3 SNAP-IN-CLIP FACES WINDOW IMPORTANT: On mull or stacked units, in order for the jamb extension to run the full length or width of the units, the snap-in-leg must be notched (FIGURE 4A) where the units intersect (FIGURE 4). FIGURE 4 4A CUT BACK BY 11/16" 24

Jamb Extension Option (cont.) FIGURE 5 FIGURE 6 Flush To Frame's Edge 5A Improper use of hand and power tools could result in personal injury and/or product damage. Follow equipment manufactures instructions for safe operation. Always wear safety glasses. NOTE: Install the horizontal jamb extensions so their ends are flush with the ends of the window frame (FIGURES 5 & 5A). 2. Using a rubber mallet, fully secure each horizontal jamb extension snap-in-clip into the full length of the window s interior accessory groove (FIGURE 5). 3. Set the vertical jamb extension pieces between the horizontal pieces. Apply both vertical pieces of wood jamb extension using a rubber mallet to exert enough force to snap the snap-in-clip into the interior accessory groove (FIGURE 5). 4. Align the side of the vertical piece with the end of the horizontal piece or use a small square to square the vertical extension. While holding items aligned with each other, drill 2 holes in the back of the horizontal piece. Fasten the horizontal piece to the vertical piece with #7 x 1-1/4" Phillips head stainless steel flat head screws (FIGURE 6). Repeat for each corner where vertical and horizontal jamb extensions meet. 25

Recommended Finishing Instructions Always follow chemical manufacturers safety instructions when using chemicals to avoid injury or illness. For Vinyl and Aluminum Surfaces Vinyl and aluminum surfaces may be cleaned with mild soap and water. Hard to remove stains and mineral deposits may be removed with mineral spirits. Do NOT clean with gasoline, diesel fuel, solvent based, or petroleum based products. Do NOT use abrasive materials against vinyl, aluminum, or glass surfaces. Do NOT scrape or use tools that might damage the surface. Do NOT paint vinyl or aluminum surfaces. For Bare Wood Surfaces For best results, wood should be sealed immediately upon installation or upon receipt, especially if unit is being stored for ANY length of time. 1. Remove all construction and adhesive label residue with mineral spirits before finishing. 2. Lightly sand surfaces being finished with 180 grit or finer sandpaper. Be careful not to scratch the glass. 3. After sanding, clean-off sanding dust using lacquer thinner applied to a cloth so the cloth is slightly damp. Let surface dry completely. -If a painted surface is desired: If a wood unit is delivered with factory-applied primer paint, it may be painted without repriming, providing the finish paint coat is applied within six (6) months of unit installation. If a factory-primed wood unit requires repriming contact your customer service representative for help in selecting a primer compatible with the factory applied material. Factory-applied Accentials TM color system finishes in standard, designer or custom colors do not require additional painting. For touch up paint specifications contact your customer service representative. 1. An unprimed wood unit requires priming. Use only oil-based primer. Use compatible oil or water-based finish coats. Refer to the primer and paint manufacturers instructions. 2. When priming bare wood or repriming, cover all exposed wood surfaces. Priming all exposed surfaces helps prevent end splitting, warping and/or checking. 3. Once primed, apply two (2) coats of paint (again on all exposed sides) to each item. -If a stained surface is desired: If no sealer is applied over stain, the wood will weather very rapidly and defects will occur. Apply at least two (2) coats of sealer. 1. Use only oil-based stain. A gel stain is easier to apply as it does not easily run or drip. The clear top coats may be oil or water-based. Apply at least two top coats of sealer or varnish. A pre-stain wood conditioner, applied before staining, will help softer woods like pine absorb stain more evenly. Apply both wood conditioner and desired stain according to the manufacturers instructions. 2. Apply one (1) coat of sealer to the stained surface and let dry. Using a spar (marine) varnish as a sealer provides extra protection against sunlight and moisture. Let sealer dry completely. 3. Before applying the next finish coat, make sure the previous coat is completely dry. Then lightly sand previous finish coat with 180 grit or finer sandpaper. Clean off all sanding dust and wipe surfaces with a tack cloth. 4. Apply next coat of desired finish to surface and let dry. Apply only one coat at a time. 5. For any additional coats of finish, repeat steps 3 and 4. -For a clear (natural) finish: Follow Steps 1, 2, and 3 under Bare Wood and Steps 2, 3, 4, and 5 under stained surface. 26

Weather Shield Products With Synthetic Stucco Serious concerns have been raised about excessive moisture problems in homes and other buildings that have Exterior Insulation Finish Systems, commonly referred to as EIFS or Synthetic Stucco. Many experts agree that a certain amount of water or moisture can be expected to enter almost any building exterior system. The building system should allow such water and moisture to escape or weep to the exterior, so no damage occurs. However, some EIFS systems may not allow water or moisture that penetrates the wall system to weep to the exterior. This can cause excessive moisture to accumulate within the wall system, which can cause serious damage to wall and other building components. It has been reported that so-called barrier EIFS systems are particularly prone to this problem. Moisture problems in any type of building structure can be reduced by proper design and construction with appropriate moisture control considerations, taking into account prevailing climate conditions. Examples of moisture control considerations include flashing and/or sealing of all building exterior penetration points, use of appropriate materials and construction techniques, adherence to applicable building codes, and general attention to proper design and workmanship of the entire building system, including allowances for management of moisture within the wall system. Determination of proper building design, components and construction, including moisture management, are the responsibility of the design architect, the contractors, and the manufacturer of the exterior wall finish products. Questions and concerns about moisture management issues should be taken up with these professionals. Weather Shield Mfg., Inc. is not responsible for problems or damages caused by deficiencies in building design, construction or maintenance, failure to install our products properly, or use of our products in systems that do not allow for proper management of moisture within the wall system.
