1. Introduction E-Shear (BEH-6) direct shearing machine is designed for individual shearing. Compact structure, easy to move, it is particularly suitable for use on the family farm. 1. Uses a patented advanced control module that features high efficiency, wide working voltage,soft-start and overload protection. Shearing power can still remain stable under unstable voltage supply conditions. 2. The use of advanced pressurized and oscillating shearing technology effectively extend the service life for blade, therefore improving efficiency. 3. Runs smoothly, low vibration and noise. 4. Main Technical parameters: 5. Items Parameters Input voltage AC V Power 300W Frequency 50HZ Overcurrent 1.3A Insulation level double insulation Like any agricultural product, the restriction for use of the machine must be complied with as below: This product can only be used for shearing for sheep, goats, horses, cattle and alpacas. 1.1 Caution: Read the manual before use, fully familiarize with the machine and its operational requirements. Observe and follow the instructions in the manual for the safe operation of the machine Observe and follow the local health and safety guidelines. Observe safe practices to prevent accident Do not operate the machine without the comb and cutter in place Do not install or remove comb and cutter with the power cord plugged in Do not use a damaged or wet machine Do not touch any moving parts while the machine is operating Incorrect use of machine may cause serious injury Children or an inexperience person should not use the machine. 3

1.2 Preparation before use: Be familiar with the various parts of the machine and its operation Check that the machine is in good condition. Replace any worn parts and tighten any loose parts Check that all moving parts a well lubricated where needed Check that air flow for cooling is not obstructed. 2. Installation and adjustment 2.1 Install comb:fix the comb on to the bed of the handpiece, ensure that the comb is aligned and symmetrical to bed of the handpiece. Adjust the comb screws until they just hold the comb lightly onto the bed of the handpiece, do not tighten the comb screws yet. 2.2 Install cutter:loosen the tension nut on the handpiece. Please the cutter between the chicken feet and the comb, press the small taper in front of the left and right chicken feet into the small holes near the tip of the cutter. Tighten the tension nut until the chicken feet is lightly pressing the cutter to the comb. 2.3 Adjust comb:adjust the relative position of comb and cutter. Ensure the center teeth of the cutter are at least 1.5 to 2.0mm below the scallop of the comb (Fig 1). Check that at full swing on each side, the edge of the cutter covers the last tooth of the comb on either side. Tighten the comb screws with the screw driver provided once adjustment is done. Fig 1 4

2.4 Selecting the appropriate Combs and Cutters: Shearing combs and cutters play a major part in shearing. It is very important to select the appropriate comb for the job. When selecting the right comb it is important to consider the shape, bevel and width of the comb (Fig 2) Fig 2 Under normal shearing conditions: Short Bevel Comb: This comb is primarily used on crossbred sheep when shearing is at its best and the sheep are in top condition. Medium Bevel Comb: This comb is used for the majority of crossbred shearing and is suitable for most types of wool. Long Bevel Comb: The long bevel comb is particularly suited to fine wool dense cutting sheep and is used when the wool is sticky or for early shearing. Choose comb width according to requirement and proficiency. Wider combs gathers more wool, makes shearing quicker but harder to push through. Combs come in either convex or concave shape. Concave shaped combs are what is usually used in shearing and the convex shape combs in crutching. 2.5 Chicken feet Ensure that each of the chicken feet swivel freely in the fork. Remove and clean the chicken feet at least once a week. Thoroughly clean the front of the fork body. Turn the chicken feet on their side and remove them by hand or with a pair of pliers. Always apply a small amount of grease into the setting holes in the fork body when replacing the chicken feet. When the cone tips on the outer half of the chicken feet are worn they must be replaced as soon as possible. 2.6 Removal and replacement of the fork body assembly and crank roller Method of removal:the fork body assembly can be removed without removing the center post. First unscrew the tension nut, then remove the tension pin and tension sleeve. Remove the safety screw behind the tension nut and remove the fork body with the roller attached Replacing fork body:remove the oil hole cap on the top of the handpiece. Place a small amount of grease onto the roller (ball) and ball race of the fork body. Place the ball onto the crankshaft (pin) using a pen, screwdriver or other suitable method (Make sure that the flat side of the roller is facing the crank spindle). Turn the handpiece switch on and off until the crank is in the bottom position. Insert the 5

fork body from the front of the handpiece and over the ball. After confirming that the center post cup is sitting onto the center post correctly, replace and tighten the safety screw behind the tension nut Adjusting the center post:the center post has been set in the correct position in the factory and is suitable for any thickness cutter. ( Note: do not adjust the height of the center post). If it needs to be readjusted, use a half worn cutter (approx 3.5mm) and any thickness comb. Rotate the roller on the crank spindle to the uppermost position and adjust the center post using the following method Adjustment of roller to top position 1. From the oil hole, check if the roller is near the top of the fork body crankshaft. If yes, go to step 3 2. Ensure comb and cutter are installed properly and tensioned. Turn the handpiece switch on and off until the crank is near the top position. 3. Unplug the power cord from the main before proceeding to next step. 4. Loosen the tension on the tension nut slightly. Holding the front of the fork body, move it lightly to adjust the roller to the highest position. Do not push the fork body sideways to hard or the roller will move to the lower position hence having to repeat step Adjusting with the post gauge 1. Loosen the center post nut and insert the post gauge (specific for BEH-6 E-shear use) as in Fig Keep the gauge at 90 o to the handpiece, adjust the center post. 3. Adjust the center post until the center bit of the gauge is level with the top of the gauge. Once level, tighten the center post nut. Fig 3 6

2.7 Adjustment for pressure Setting the tension retaining ring:when fitting the tension nut retaining spring onto the threaded bush, make sure the large curve of the spring faces directly in a clockwise direction when looking down on the handpiece. Place the spring over the threaded bush and insert the small curved end into the hole. Ensure the spring is seated properly in the groove of threaded bush. Caution: Absence of the tension retaining spring may contribute to loss of tension and could damage the handpiece Tension pressure:each end of the tension pin is different in size. Ensure the larger end fits into the tension pin cup and the smaller end into the tension pin sleeve. Increase the pressure on the comb and cutter by turning the tension nut clockwise. If the tension nut is tightened excessively, the handpiece body, combs and cutters will overheat very quickly. This will also cause the comb and cutter to not cut correctly. If the handpiece is not cutting as it should, replace the comb and cutter with a freshly ground comb and cutter. CAUTION: Ensure the chicken feet are secured in the appropriate cutter holes otherwise correct tension cannot be applied. 3 Usage, operation 3.1 Preparation and check before use Check that the comb, cutter and tension pin are correctly installed(refer to installation for blades, adjusting pressure) Ensure the gearbox contains the correct amount of oil as required (4ml if using new handpiece for the first time). Do not put too much oil in as that could cause failure to the rubber seal(s). Other parts are to be lubricated if necessary (refer to MAINTAINANCE section) Ensure that the switch on the handpiece is in the off position 3.2 Operation and safety notes Lay out the power cord, ensure there are no tangles. Plug the power cord to the correct power outlet. CAUTION: The electric handpiece must be switched on under no load condition each time Ensure you have a firm grip of the handpiece. Switch the handpiece on to start using Keep the cutting part of the handpiece at a safe distance from your body Ensure the cable does not become entangled on the sheep when shearing Turn off the handpiece when not in use to prolong the service life Ensure the handpiece is well ventilated at all time, clean the wool or dirt from the air intakes regularly Turn off and unplug the handpiece immediately if any malfunction occur. Check the handpiece and have it repaired by authorized personal if needed Ensure the machine is off and unplugged before loosening the tension nut Never turn on the machine without the comb and cutter installed or incorrectly installed. CAUTION: UNPLUG THE MACHINE BEFORE TOUCHING ANY AREA WITH MOVING PARTS! 7
