3 Important information - read this first Before installing or operating the equipment, this manual and the appropriate operating instructions must be read carefully. The equipment must be used only for the application described. Installation of the equipment must be carried out by skilled and authorized technicians only. Proper handling of the equipment is the basis for correct functioning. Never remove any covers or parts off the system before the electrical power is disconnected and isolated. Do not wash the electronic equipment with volume washers or high pressure hoses. It is the responsibility of the farmer to check his animals and the performance of the equipment. If, for any reason, the system is not operational or individual animals refuse to use the system, it is the responsibility of the farmer to make alternative arrangements to feed and milk the animals. To avoid injury to animals and equipment, check there are no projections (pipes or anything similar) protruding in the parlour on which transponder neck bands or leg bands can get caught. Calibration of milk meters/monitors and feed dispensers are of utmost importance in obtaining accurate milking and feeding results. If calibration is incorrect, or the wrong values have been programmed, milking results and feed distribution will remain adversely affected until calibration has been corrected. The manufacturers guarantee does not cover direct or subsequent damage caused by incorrect installation, incorrect usage, improper treatment, inadequate cleaning or servicing, or incorrect software parameter inputs or hardware settings. Incorrect operation of the milking or management system may seriously affect the animals in an adverse way. It is therefore necessary to double check all inputs and outputs of the system. Icons Icons are used in this manual to draw the reader s attention to specific information. These icons have the following meaning: Failure to follow the instructions can result in severe injury to engineers, users, bystanders or livestock. Indicates special precautions that must be taken to avoid damage to equipment. Gives important information to prevent potential problems. Gives advice or suggestions to make procedures easier or clearer Page 3
4 1. Introduction This manual is a guide to the installation of the Fullwood Plastic Augermaster Feeder, please read these instructions carefully. Follow the steps as set out in this manual. 2. Manual Content This manual will provide details for the installation, maintenance and spare parts. 3. Dispense Rates IMPORTANT Dispense rate will vary depending on feed type, feed suppliers production batch and the installation layout All feeders must be calibrated prior to use to ensure animals are fed correctly. The feeders must be routinely checked and calibrated. The average rate is approximately 30 grms per second for cubed diary mix (Cattle Nuts) Page 4

Product Overview Fullwood Ltd supply an option of two plastic feeders, the difference between them is simply that one type is directly fixed onto the parlour wall and the second type is fixed to a rail which is then in turn fixed to the parlour wall. 6 5. Installation Procedure When installing, Fullwood recommends that the feeders should not be mounted on the parlour wall but mounted on the exterior walls. 8 Depending on the size of the installation, either cut fixing rail to suit or use multiple lengths to achieve desired set up Fix rail to the parlour wall at desired height, ensure that the rail sits level Hopper Seal the hopper to the feeder with silicone sealer. Fix two items together with 2x35mm tek screws as shown (Fix screws on opposite sides of feeder) Feeder Page 8
9 5.3 Fixing Feeder to Rail Fixing Rail Rawlbolt FEEDER 1. Hook the feeder with mounting frame over the fixing rail bolted to the wall 2. Insert through mounting frame on feeder 3. Locate as shown 4. 12 7. Maintenance 7.1 General Maintenance Fullwood plastic Auger feeders are virtually maintenance free, keep clean and check for damage periodically. 7.2 Maintenance/Repair Whilst Full of Feed If at any time the motor or Auger needs maintenance whilst the hopper is full of feedstuff, the shut off plate can be used to hold back said feed to enable the motor and Auger to be extracted Step 1 Remove the side cover (item 26) Detach shut off plate by unscrewing item 5 (remove screw and pull out plastic nut) Step 2 Using a suitably sharp knife or jigsaw, cut a slot in the recessed side suitable for the shut off plate to slide into. Fully insert the shut off plate - The motor & Auger can now be removed for maintenance Page 12
13 7.2.3 Step 3 To seal the slot after Maintenance; Using the shut off plate as a template placed over the recessed side of the feeder drill 2 x 8mm diameter holes. Seal slot inside recess with silicone sealer Fix shut off plate over the slot using plastic screws (item 5). Note: To fix screws, push body into hole then push screw into body Page 13
