4 Photosensitive seizure warning Some people may experience photosensitive seizures or a loss of consciousness when they encounter certain kinds of visual stimulation in day-to-day life, such as flickering lights or luminous patterns. Such people also risk experiencing seizures when watching TV or playing video games. This can also happen without any previous history of related health problems or symptoms of epilepsy. The following symptoms are characteristic of photosensitive seizures: blurred vision, twitching eyes or face, trembling arms or legs, a feeling of disorientation, confusion, or a temporary loss of orientation. During a photosensitive seizure, loss of consciousness or convulsions can lead to serious injury, as the symptoms often begin with a fall. Stop playing immediately if you notice any of the symptoms described above. It is strongly advised that parents supervise their children while they play video games, and children and young adults are often more sensitive to photosensitive seizures than adults. If you show any of these symptoms, STOP PLAYING THE GAME IMMEDIA- TELY AND SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. Parents and guardians should supervise children and ask them if they have experienced one or more of the above symptoms. Installation and Start NOTICE: This product requires your acceptance of the Steam Subscriber Agreement (SSA). You have to activate the product online by registering for a Steam account and agreeing to the SSA. Additional Requirements and Help Installation requires an internet connection for authentication, as well as the Steam client (included with the game). 3

5 Installation Windows PC Please make sure your computer is connected to the internet before you begin installing INDUSTRY MANAGER: FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES. Place the INDUSTRY MANAGER: FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES disk in the disk drive. During the installation process, your disk will be verified one time online, and an activation file that asks for a product code will be downloaded. You can find this code on the reverse side of this handbook. Place the game disk in the disk drive. After a few seconds, a window will appear on the screen. Follow the instructions to install the game and choose the location where you would like the game to be installed. If the program does not start automatically, double click on the My Computer icon on your Windows Desktop. Then double click on the symbol for the disk drive to open the disk drive window, and then click on the installation file setup.exe. Starting the Game After installation is complete, start the program by selecting Start/All Programs/Steam/INDUSTRY MANAGER: FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES in the Windows Start Menu, or by clicking on the corresponding desktop icon. If you receive a security alert when starting the autostart menu on Windows Vista/7/8/10, you should confirm the execution of the program setup.exe. Uninstalling the Game Choose Start/Settings/Control Panel/Software and mark the entry <INDUSTRY MANAGER: FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES>. Then click on the add/remove button. The program and the files with the game data will then be removed. Installation Mac In order to play INDUSTRY MANAGER: FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES on your Mac system, you will require a Steam account. If you do not have a Steam account, you can set one up for free. The STEAM client is included with the game. Please follow the steps to install Steam and set up a Steam account. 4

6 In order to activate your game via Steam, do the following: 1. Open Steam and sign in with your account. 2. Click on the Games tab and then on the subheading Activate a product on Steam 3. Follow the product activation steps before entering your product key. INDUSTRY MANAGER: FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES will then automatically be downloaded and installed. Registering INDUSTRY MANAGER: FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES on STEAM Thank you for purchasing INDUSTRY MANAGER: FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES. In order to add the game to your STEAM library, open the program and log in with your account. Setting up an account is free. After you have logged in, the STEAM home page will open. Now click on the Games tab and then on the Activate a product on STEAM... option. 5

7 The Product Activation window will open. Here, click "Next" to continue the process. In the next window, you will have to agree to the STEAM Subscriber Agreement to continue. You will then be able to enter the 12-character STEAM product code. 6

8 You will now be asked to enter your 12-character product code in this window. You will find this product code on the back of this manual. It looks like this: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX Please enter your individual sequence of characters with the hyphens in the designated "Product Code" box. Then click on "Next" to complete the process. After a successful product activation, you will be able to print a receipt. The game will now be in your STEAM library and can be installed and launched. If the entry is not successful, please try the following solution: - Check your product code for any input errors - Zero and/or the letter O can be easily confused Introduction Welcome to INDUSTRY MANAGER: FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES. 9 The Main Menu You can access the main menu via the ESC button at any time. Here you can start a new game, play the tutorial or enter the options menu. New Game: Here you can start a new game. Resume: Continue your last saved game. Credits: Take a closer look at the people who developed the game. Tutorial: We recommend playing the tutorial the first time you start the game. It is important that you know the basics before you start your own career as an entrepreneur. Save/Load: Access all your saved games. Options: Here you can adjust the settings of the graphics and the audio. Quit: Here you can quit the game. 8

10 Your career is about to start At the very beginning of your career, we recommend playing the tutorial. There you will learn everything you need to know about entrepreneurship, the basics of production, stock market trading, trading with resources and products, management of production chains and taking over your competitors' companies. You can start the tutorial by clicking on the Tutorial button in the main menu. Start a new game When you are prepared and ready, you can start your own career by clicking New Game in the main menu. You will need to choose a difficulty level. The level of difficulty is influenced by a lot of different variables, such as the amount of resources, seed capital, the number of cities on the map and the number of opponents. You can choose from presets like Easy, Normal or Hard, or customize the difficulty level by selecting Custom. When you are ready, hit the Continue button. 9

11 In the last step, you will need to adjust the company setup. Here you will choose a specialization, which means you will have already unlocked a certain number of buildings in a production chain from the start of the game. Furthermore, you can customize your firm's logo and color, as well as select a chairman for your company. In order to start the game, hit the Start Game button. Now you are on your own. Every decision you make from now on will influence the success of your company. So get out there and earn some money! 10

12 Tips and Tricks In order to create new products and work with more advanced resources, you should start research as early as possible Buy 51% of stock market shares in your competitors in order to initiate a takeover. Sell a maximum of 49% of your stock market shares in order to avoid a hostile takeover. Go to the sector view for an overview of all the sectors owned by your company and all the buildings it has constructed. You can sell resources and products on the global market, but only products can be sold in the local trade center. The closer a sector is to a town, the more workers you can hire. Your warehouses are the connection to all of your production facilities. You will need them in order to setup production chains, to sell your products on the local market or trade on the global market. The earth in your sector will become less fertile the closer it is to the open sea. Marketing plays a vital role when competing with other companies. Advertising can help you reach more customers and sell more products. The average price of sold items may give you a reference point and help you decide the price tag you will set for your products. Open photo mode with the F2 key in order to keep mementos of your most successful moments. For an overview of all 200 products and resources, click on the Product Tree button in the game. 11
