2 Reset Procedure 2018 Technological innovations in education are continuously evolving and keeping up with them is among ISB s main aims. In the past years, we introduced a more advanced WiFi system and of the MDM technology and Classroom. This enables teachers to manage the devices in class in a deeper way and with greater control on the activities at the children are pursuing. Among several new features, Classroom, for example, allows class teachers to see what each student is doing and which app he /she is using. As the previous year, all the ipad will be under the school MDM, a way that allows our ICT department to manage at 360 grades your devices (sending apps, updates, restriction and more) You will need to proceed with the device RESET before bring it to the class teacher, then, our ICT department will be able to put your device under the MDM mode. You will find all the instruction below to do it without losing data. Once all data has been saved (if needed) the following procedure will WIPE the device. *IMPORTANT: if you want to save data in your ipad, you will be unable to do this through the back-up and restore procedure in itunes but will need to SAVE all data of the SINGLE apps (through icloud, Dropbox or other). to save photos, videos, presentations and a few games (e.g. Minecraft) go to p. 4 If you need help, and go to the Apple Store, it is essential to mention that a back-up through itunes will not be supported by the MDM enroll. Should you encounter any problems in understanding the procedure, assistance will be available on Wednesday Sept 5th/Thursday 6th from 9:00 to 11:00 in the lunch room. Please book an appointment with the school secretary. Please note that the technician will not be able to do this on your behalf.

3 Reset Procedure STEP 1: Before starting, make sure ALL THE FOLLOWING POINTS ARE RESPECTED. This points are essentials for the procedure. 1. You are aware the Apple ID and password used to date. 2. The find my ipad option is disabled 3. Restrictions are disabled 4. You are aware of the passcode of your device (6 digit number to access device) STEP 2: Starting (Before doing this, make a backup on icloud, if needed, following the next part of this guide Saving data ) 1) Open Settings 2) Click on General 3) Scroll down to the last topic and click on Erase. 4) Finally click on Erase all content and setting; your passcode (if activated) will be asked in this phase. 5) Click Erase on the pop-up (this will show up twice) STEP 3: PUT YOUR IPAD IN THE ATTACHED A4 ENVELOPE AND FILL IN THE FORM -> BRING YOUR IPAD TO YOUR CLASS TEACHER DEADLINE: BY WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 5TH - Saving data in Keynotes, Pages, Numbers, Photo, Video Several options are available when saving data. The one we suggest is to save data on icloud (be sure to have enough available space on your icloud account. (Any Apple Store will be able to offer support). Your itunes back up cannot be used to restore your data on the ipad.

4 1) Open Settings and go to icloud - Make sure this is switched on and icloud drive is enabled; 2) Make sure icloud is activated on ALL the apps you want to save

5 Saving games connected to Game Center (eg. Clash of Clans) To save a game connected to Game Center, you will need to open the App Game Centre and create a Nick name. You will subsequently be asked for an AppleID. (we suggest a non public profile). You will now just need to open the desired app. Saving Minecraft Worlds Changing or resetting an ipad can be a real nightmare for a Minecraft player. this is why, although not strictly linked to school, we have decided to provide a guide for those who want to save and reinstall they Minecraft PE Worlds. To save Minecraft worlds you will need a Mac or PC, and you will need to do this through itunes. Here is a video of the whole procedure: 1) Create a folder on your desktop and name it My ipad world 2) Connect your ipad to the computer through the cable 3) Open itunes and choose ipad

6 4) Click on App 5) scroll down the page until you reach the section: Condivisione file /File Sharing 6) among the list of apps you will also find Minecraft PE

7 7) on the right hand side you will find all the files relative to Minecraft PE. Click only once on games 8) then click on save in and choose the folder previously created on your desktop My ipad world. You worlds are now saved on your Mac. Once your ipad is enrolled in the school MDM you will be able to download the app Minecraft PE and import the worlds. The rest of the procedure will need to be followed once the ipad is handed back to you from the school. Download the app Minecraft PE. You will then need to create at least one world (ask your child) before importing the worlds previously saved. To import the saved worlds follow steps 1 to 6 and then click on add.

8 You will then need to follow the entire path leading to the folder My ipad world previously saved on your desktop and and then surf through games/com.mojang/minecraftworlds Congratulations, all your worlds have been saved on your ipad
