2 To start a New Project : Click on the guitar on your dock this menu should pop up: click on the Loops option. This window will pop up next: Type the name of your song here Ex: 2011 Stretches Choose where you want to save it: desktop, etc. IGNORE all this stuff! Click Create down at the bottom. Your screen should look like this: Now the fun begins!

3 To add a voice recording: Click the plus sign( because you re adding something to the track) in the bottom left corner This window will pop up: Select Real Instrument and click Create at the bottom and it should now look like this:

4 You can change the name of this from No Effects to your name. (beneficial if more than one person is recording) This red line lets you know where you are at in your track to record or play. Click Vocals to add voice effects to your recording. Click this to record your voice and press space bar to stop Click this to play your track A new instrument should be added for different voices. Example: You can adjust the volume of the recording (in case one is louder than the other)

5 Tips: Click Control at the top for the following adjustments: If you hear a clicking sound while you are recording or playing your track, it means you have the metronome on. To turn it off, uncheck the Metronome. Once you are ready to fine- tune your tracks, check ducking (by clicking it). This will allow you to control the volume of the backing music and make your spoken track easier to hear. Once you ve checked Ducking, two arrows will appear inside the track box. Once you checked ducking, your track should look like this. Click the top arrow to make that track louder. Click the bottom arrow to make that track fade out a little so the one with the top arrow can be heard louder.

6 To add music (Backing track): Click the Media Browser button on the bottom right hand corner (music note) View/Hide Media Browser button The right hand side of your page should now look like this: Select itues to look at the music you can add to the project you are creating You can scroll through your songs to find a track to add to your project. Once you see the track you want to add, click and hold it.then drag it to the empty space to the left. Your Project should now look like this: The orange box is the added music Make sure you click the down ducking arrow so your voice will be heard over the music.

7 Sound Effects/ Fillers: Sound effects and/or filler music can be added to help transitions. Ex: you can add a radio static effect to transition into another song or backing track. Click on the eye at the bottom right corner to show what is called a loop browser (shown below) From here you can select different effects or song segments that have been created by Apple. If you want to add more you can go to preferences to download them. Click on a style you want to browse through and it will pull up a list of available tracks. It should look something like this: Click on the track to preview it. Once you find the sound you are looking for, you click and drag to the open area like you did with the music track.

8 When it s all said and DONE! Go to the top of the page and click on Share to see the window below. Click on Send Song to itunes This page will then pop up: Create a playlist name so you can find your song easily in itunes. You can also create an Album name Once you are done filling in the info, click Share. You can change the information above once your song is Shared with itunes. Just leave these alone. unless you re feeling adventurous! This will pop up after you click on Share. Once your song has finished the sharing process, itunes will open and play the song you have created.
